I suppose it depends on what your delusions are. Are they delusions or hope, and where does one end and the other begin.
Cyklone replies on Mar 8, 2020:
@Cutiebeauty does that mean they are delusions though, or just assumptions that we adopt in order to continue until evidence allows us to replace that assumption with a more accurate one? Like a game of sudoku where you assume a number in order to continue and if it's incorrect you come back and change it. The definition of a delusion is that you maintain that belief in the face of evidence to the contrary and you are not doing that.

Cyklone comments on Mar 5, 2020:
What's true love? I asked a couple that once and was told, true love lasts forever. So what if it doesn't last forever I asked. The answer was that then it's not true love. That's when I gave up, so if you're going to ask the question we need an operational definition of true love

@SpikeTalon firearm related deaths in aussie in 2017 = less than 1 per 100,000. Firearm related deaths in usa in 2017 12.2 per 100,000. So much for your black market theory. Those figures include suicides and if you just look at homicides the firearm related deaths in aussie are 0.1 per 100,000. If you look at a graph of firearm deaths in aussie since 1980 it shows a decreasing curve that you would expect as the firearms are slowly removed from the population. The effect of the black market economy is negligible, probably because of their great expense on the black market putting them out of the reach of petty criminals.

@LiterateHiker then I hope you'd be pleasantly surprised by my photo; I took it for this site. The last time I we t hiking was in Sept last year when I started on a 10 day hike and had to turn back on the second day because I tore a muscle in my calf. Getting older can be a bitch sometimes. I like long distance hiking where I am completely self reliant. And I wholeheartedly agree that it takes time to evaluate a person's character but it can be a bit easier and faster to eliminate the non-starters if we do that in a structured way

@1of5 I'm a mental health professional regularly working with survivors of bad relationships. Teaching people to be more discerning in their relationships is a part of helping them break the cycle, so yes I can show that what I say works. Again though you are making the error of thinking that what is true for you is true for all. Congratulations on having a successful relationship but it was using this technique which allowed me to break away from destructive relationships and form more rewarding ones. Interesting that you ask if I'm single. I'm not into ad hominem argument, but it is a non sequitor to conclude that my current relationship status, which you can see from my profile, reflects my knowledge of relationships, especially when you don't know the circumstances of that occuring. Circumstances that I have no interest in sharing on an open forum.

@BitFlipper bugger! There are sites around which give instruction on how to write a good profile. Or you could do like me and write what I feel and then don't give a flying f##k about likes and responses.

Netflix "low hanging" anti-christian shows... "Sabrina" & "Lucifer" entertaining, easy watches... unless you don't like cannibalism in church, but hey, that's what Christians in real life do (at least symbolically).

I enjoy both of those but when it comes to the religious stuff I figure it's a bit like watching shows with vampires and werewolves. I don't believe in them either but I can still enjoy them. It does annoy me as well though when a previously secular show starts to proselytize or get too religious.

Why don't you ask your friends for this feedback instead? They know you more intimately than you can describe and your description is limited by your insight into yourself and we are all limited in that area.

I didn't list the exclusion criteria which would be things like a history of violence or drug abuse, but I find it interesting when people judge others by their own limitations. So revealing. I avoid making the assumption that because I can't then other's can't but I do assume that if I can then others are capable. We all make more complex assessments than these on a daily basis: the pragmatics of speech, the intracacies of movement, even the change in pupil size and who hasn't stopped and thought about what makes another person attractive to us? This is just nothing more than organising our assessment in order to gain some control over our feelings. Otherwise we become victim to our emotions, always attracted to the violent male or the shallow woman etc.

And I think that's a great start but I'm more specific, looking for things like:honesty integrity, loving, caring, loyalty, openness, intelligent, sensuality, sensitivity positiveness and strength. And although you might say that those things go without saying, I've found that if you don't look you can easily overlook. And then ask, how do I know if those things are there? What will I see in this person which will tell me they exist because many people are capable are putting up a front for months? One useful characteristic of people is that they normally mix with people of similar character, so if you don't like his/her friends you are probably missing something.

@JeffMesser Perhaps, but if you read my initial post you'll notice that I said that I only believe in things which can ve measured or examined in repeatable experiments. I suggested we agree to disagree. Do you think we can do that without accusations of foolhardiness or myopia?

So, you are laying claim to the existence of something despite the fact that we can't measure or detect it's existence in any way and you justify that by saying they are not measureable phenomena. Sounds a lot like the idea of god. I assume we're talking about your idea of "universal consciousness" which you substituted for soul, not individual consciousness, which is measureable.

www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/sacrilege Sacrilegious is often used in reference to religion, or to religious things, so it is easy to see why people might be confused by its spelling. However, sacrilegious and religious are not from the same roots.

Soul is not a religion. It is the inner most part of your being and existence. Everyone has one and everyone also has a different religion. So learn to speak soul.
Cyklone replies on Jan 16, 2020:
Assuming you accept the existence of a soul and I think that belief in a soul is the bedrock of any religion. If there is no soul (my belief and that of many atheists) then there is no "soul talk".
