@Davidthinks I don't think immigration destroys the spirit of a nation's culture...IMHO immigration enriches the culture of the host country.....BUT solely when said event is a positive one...when what is added leads to a better life for everybody. I am an immigrant...and I was born in a country made big by the contributions of the Italian, French, Deutsche, Irish, British, Japanese........and many others...and at the same time many immigrated to USA. The difference between my other country and USA is that the first one SELECTED and CONTROLLED WHO WAS ALLOWED TO ENTER THE LAND....and said way had nothing to do with race / religion but with the needs -at that time- of the country. Trump wanted to ban people from Muslims countries and he was perfectly correct; there is no way to know who is good and who is bad... With the people who arrived to the USA-Mexico border last week we have another problem as well...their health. How much will cost us to find out if they are not a health hazard for the land? As I said, I am sorry for them but shouldn't their respective governments take care of them?

@Marine Don't take to much of what you hear on the news since a person...AS LONG AS HE/SHE IS A LEGAL RESIDENT (Green Card holder) can live in USA until he/she dies or decides to move out of the land. No person who is legal in the country can be asked if he/she is a citizen. IAW, he/she can be asked to show his/her GREEN CARD. If an ICE agent ask my neighbor if he is legal in USA...he will show his Green Card....and the questioning stops right then and there. TO BECOME A USA CITIZEN IS NOT MANDATORY AND A PERSON CAN APPLY FOR THIS STATUS ANYTIME AFTER FIVE YEARS HOLDING THE LEGAL RESIDENCE PAPERS. I became a citizen after eight years of being a legal resident....my sister -because she can't live w/o imitating me- did the same after 25 years with a Green Card. IAW, there is no reason to "touch" a USA (naturalized) Citizen. BTW, to apply for USA Citizenship is not mandatory.... BTW II, those with Legal Residenship (Green card) are also w/o worries.
