Has anyone else noticed the serious bias of the Facebook administrators in issuing punishments? ...
DangerDave comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I've noticed a far right movement of Fakebook too. Why am I getting GOP and NRA ads...even after I repeatedly tell them I'm not interested?!? Perhaps some changes will be REQUIRED after Mark has his hearing but yes, FB is getting seriously right wing.
Are you superstitious?
DangerDave comments on Mar 27, 2018:
Sad there wasn't a "depends" option. I've turned over some lemons but it was because they were lemons...bad engineering (or repair record), not bad juju. Still, I have my moments. All other options being equal, I'll bet on the queen. It works for me...about 25% of the time.
Care to share any creative date ideas?
DangerDave comments on Mar 27, 2018:
I came to Vegas for the arts and entertainment but there are still plenty of museums and intellectual activities abound. I'd avoid lectures on a first date for the same reason I would a concert: it's just not the best environment to get to know someone. A definite plan would be NerdgaZms, a comic shop filled with a museum of memorabilia of almost every imaginable superhero from almost every era. The staff there may as well be curators...they know their comics...movies, toys, games... Assuming she wasn't a comic buff we still might hit it off...after all, I'm looking for models and potential act leads before "dates" and companions.
Which is the more disturbing, Russian politics or Islamic fundamentalism

Scientific socialism
DangerDave comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Scientific socialism (as previously described in Wiki) sought to apply scientific principles to the understanding of this system of government but, as any first year political science major will tell you, there are far too many variables to make viable predictions in any system of governing large numbers of individuals. Generally speaking, the success of any method of government is far more dependent on the character of those governing...but those qualities alone largey defy objective analysis. And that tells us nothing of current social trends or the price of pig bellies.

Hi "New Here"! It is a pleasure meeting you. You are absolutely gorgeous...and in a good place! Besides nonbelievers you are in the midst of many other creatives here as well. See my profile for details but, if you're ever in Las Vegas I'd love to meet you, do a theatrical photoshoot with you and...though it's probably far too large a project to take on with all you're doing already...be my act lead! However any of that might transpire I'm glad you're here! I'm looking forward to learning more about you so post and comment often! DangerDave comments on Mar 25, 2018:
Why do I have a sudden desire to be a pre-k student in a Okie public school...anyway... You're in a tough position because there is very likely a strong evangelical, fundamentalist xian influence among your peers. You'd know better than me how you'll have to "front" for your social survival, which is likely directly tied to your professional position. Still, having put myself in a worse situation (as a K-12 music teacher in a fundie southern baptist school) I learned all too well when to play along and when there was no need to do so. As well as it payed I could only keep up the charade a year. Your mileage may vary.

DangerDave comments on Mar 25, 2018:
I have. I'm an apathetic agnostic and spiritual humanist so it was much easier for me...not in what I believe but what I can accept the possibilities of...even if that is not inclusive of any typical beliefs in abrahamic gods. When I finally got sober I did three consecutive "90 in 90s" and found my sobriety was more important than any definitive description of my HP. That was immaterial as I got to the work of making amends and clearing the wreckage of my past. I just celebrated 17 years of sobriety and I've not been to a meeting in 2 years. The last several years I've gone were single annual visits to pick up a chip. Why do we simply group emotions as positive or negative?
DangerDave comments on Mar 25, 2018:
I seek balance in everything and, as such, see a wide range in emotions as opposed to the "fringes". Looking at the practical over the philosophical, here is the "emote wheel" I was introduced to in acting class. Robert Plutchik's approach didn't give a positive or negative value to emotions here, but instead focused on their intensities. Practicing each in a mirror is entirely optional.

DangerDave comments on Mar 21, 2018:
Our most recent (pre Trump) government research shows the benefits and detriments of the use of marijuana for many physical and mental health issues. Read it yourself but the major consensus is there is not enough data to come to a conclusion. Still, in more politically liberal areas of the US the positive reports continue as more areas vote to legalize marijuana. Marijuana seems to be flying below Trump Dynasty radar as our desteemed dictator goes after the death penalty for opioid dealers, except of course the real ones who are his friends and personal profits in big pharma. link: Committee on the Health Effects of Marijuana: An Evidence Review and Research Agenda Board on Population Health and Public Health Practice https://www.nap.edu/read/24625/chapter/1

DangerDave comments on Mar 19, 2018:
Frivolity is useless. There is no profit to be made from it. You can get in trouble, including trouble with the family for possibily learning or experiencing something outside the dogmatic confines of the family's way of thinking. Besides, you might appear "odd" to others and that could affect the family's social standing. And profits. I'm sure there are many other reasons (espeially if we toss in theism!) but this is the current "American way" for far too many.
AtheIst vs agnostIc
DangerDave comments on Mar 19, 2018:
@Ersomething to avoid confusion, let's break this up. Being that we're on the same page on definitions what are you doing about dogmatic atheists? Do you ever speak against them? Do you ever try to counsel them? I've yet to see one atheist on this site do so. Sadly, *most* dogmatic atheists avoid replying to or even reading posts such as these. Like the theist, discussing it would undermine their sense of superiority, their core beliefs...their dogma. Like it or not, atheism has an idiot fringe and, claim them or not, they claim you.

@MustardSeed nailed it. The difference described to me was "ice is cold". This is "truth" to most people and they can "test" it. If they touch it they feel what they know as "cold". This truth is "self evident", so to speak, but still a subjective observation. Still, this truth is relative. In fact, any ice on earth would be far "warmer" than the cosmic background temperature, which is -455F.

What do you think about California?
DangerDave comments on Mar 18, 2018:
I've never heard one bad thing about Cali. After a lot of research I'd first planned to move to San Francisco before getting a "too good to be true" offer in Vegas...which it was. Unless you're far right I couldn't see anyone saying anything bad about it and that'd just be the politics. Cali is just one of those places that is so diverse if you didn't like where you were move a few miles, if not a few blocks.
Do you feel that our society is getting far to used to the violence we see in today's media?
DangerDave comments on Mar 18, 2018:
Desensitized is the word I think you're looking for and yes, we are. But instead of blaming comic books and movies the "media" you should be looking at is our current events, our news: the daily atrocities we may as well be desensitized to because we (and not only those of us in war zones) could experience such on any given day. Your approach of the problem seems the same as the NRA. If that's the case you won't find many supporters here.

Lyrically I still see them as more humanistic than theist.

Today I might do the same but only as a last resort, a dire necessity...MAYBE for a job I really needed. I just don't think I could do it for a job I liked if there were any other options available. If I were to do so I could go back into that mode...the same mode I'd be in if I were somehow in any other theist controlled environment. I'd do so without a second thought and absolutely no remorse.

You're almost certain to face her wrath when you "cut her off" as well. You have to let her hit her bottom THEN suggest GA again. It is entirely unintentional but addicts will take full advantage of anyone trying to help them, even convincing themselves they'll try to get better after "this one more time". Be strong.
