Highlight is definitely hearing that a friend who had been stranded in Bogota, Columbia since mid March made it home to Ecuador by bus yesterday. She's now quarantined for 2 weeks in a hotel in Quito.. but at least she's home . :)

Tough choices.. to estrange one's family over political views.. but I understand the impulse. We are told that if something is unhealthy for us the number one priority is to remove ourselves from the source because the source isn't going to remove itself. I have no suggestion as to what you should do but your story reminded me of discussions I had in group therapy at the rehabilitation center I attended for my alcohol addiction. Basically the notion is that in my recovery I will undoubtedly find that there are people in my life that I will have to cut away from . Some because they engage in the behaviour I am trying to change in myself and some because their attitude to me trying to heal myself will be, for whatever reason, a thorn in their side that will reveal the mean and toxic nature of who they are.. sort of like the crabs in the bucket analogy. As one crab tries to attain freedom by climbing on its compadres below to leave the bucket the others hold on and drag it back down. This Administration has given permission for a great deal of ugliness in American society to come out of the shadows. Ugliness that any loving, thoughtful, progressive person would rather not deal with. At any rate.. the point of the discussions were to get me thinking ahead of time about a life without familiar faces and friendship routines... and in a sense that is what addiction treatment is.. abandoning the familiar. it's painful but self preservation is a powerful motivator. Walking away from toxic people IS an option. Just something to think about I guess. Good luck with your decisions.

Yes.. definitely an "out there: kind of thing. Not your regular person goes homicidal story. The house fires really put this event at a unique level of atrocity. With the large number of casualties I dare say there aren't many established households in the province that don't have a connection, in some way, with a victim or the locations, etc. Truly an above and beyond impact. My thoughts and condolences.

A couple of things I dislike paying for.. Insurance ( nothing personal 😘😘) ... car, house, health, bank loan, life (my choice $35/month)... It’s $300+ a month that floats out the window simply to appease fear of things “happening”.. I’ve been driving accident free for 33 years. It would probably keep me up at night knowing the total I’ve paid out for driving. And.. Interest.. there is a reason Christ threw the money lenders out of the temple. When I worked in Malaysia I had the opportunity to apply for a MasterCard.. because usury is forbidden in Islam the Interest rate was 1%.. the cost of administering the card... but back in North America the rate hovers at roughly 20%.. IMO.. there aren’t enough jail cells reserved for bankers. ** the photo... I collect pieces of silver waiting for the day when the illegal suppression of the value of this metal is called out and the price rockets to the stratosphere. 🤪🤪 This 10oz bar is one of my faves.. “Jesus and the $ lenders.”

Hi.. thanks for your interest. For my part.. I feel things are going as well as can be expected. I mean.. we are Canadians.. we are the polite ones.lol We are good at attempting to "get along" with each other. I am incredibly impressed with the response of our Prime Minister Trudeau and the government in general. I can only imagine what a horror show we would be in if this had happened during the previous administration led by the Conservative's flaming sociopath Harper. At times like this it's important to have a leader who actually "likes" people. And we have one !! Timing is everything. :)

For sure the idea of "contracts" of a certain nature became more in vogue when the notions in "50 Shades of Grey" were introduced to popular fiction. If you know what you are looking for, the number of visible submissive Day Collars are quite common in urban areas where counter cultures thrive.
