I'm not sure I agree with the assessment that other countries are all that sexually progressive compared to North Amer.. Apart from the laissez-faire myths of Sweden and The Netherlands and maybe Germany every country I've had the pleasure of spending more than a couple of weeks in has turned out to be as tightly wound as we are.For sure urban centers are always more tantalizing in a liberal fashion even in what we assume to be conservative societies ( took 8 months but eventually found a strip bar in Muslim Kuala Lumpur) but it is our belief in the myths of other places that informs us of our own. I found Thailand to be a perfect example of this. Thailand is sold to us as a pinnacle of Hedonism to a large extent. And certainly there are pockets of significant sex trade activity for the tourists. But after 6 weeks in various locations around the country I found that the people in general are no more or less promiscuous than anywhere else. And I in fact witnessed obvious promiscuity being treated negatively by the community as a whole when carried on outside of designated business zones.. no one wanted the prostitute working in their neighborhood! So when we judge our own freedoms against what we think of as freedoms in other societies we are looking, in my opinion, at a benchmark standard that doesn't really exist. It is the fantasy of Thailand, not the reality, that our liberal sensitivities are striving for. Bottom line for me.. my sexual fun is where, how and with who I make it. My upbringing be damned!! :)

You are right Laura it is a hard question. In my experience it takes a good deal of self reflection to identify an answer I can truthfully face. The holes are usually related to personality and character traits that find me lacking in the ability to be individually strong. Things I rely on partners to fulfill when I should be relying on myself. When I find and name these holes I have an opportunity to grow as an individual. Every time a hole fills in I feel a little more confidant, a little stronger. Thank you for your honesty.
