The Vatican never apologized for the Inquisition.
p-nullifidian comments on Sep 27, 2018:
These are two entirely separate questions, each of which deserves its own poll. That the Vatican, over the centuries, has balked in admitting wrongdoing--even in the case of molesting priests--has become a standard operating procedure for the 'Holy See.' Thus, one should never expect an apology for ...

Being Jewish is a ball game that most Christians do not understand. Christians can wake up Buddist one dayand the response is "you'll come back to Jesus." In the Jewish community you are always Jewish no matter what. Your Children will be Jewish even if they were raised Buddist and have never heard of Judaiam. Best of luck!

Power of prayer?
DavidLaDeau comments on Sep 25, 2018:
If prayer worked we would not need hospitals.
DavidLaDeau replies on Sep 25, 2018:
@genessa Very, Very good! Very few people are aware that there are at least 7 Bible Canons in use today. These Bibles have different books inside. One of my first videos on youtube was on that subject. It was too long and I did not get to the point at the end. Live and learn, perhaps I will make a much better version in the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNMZdSUVgUg

If prayer worked we would not need hospitals.
DavidLaDeau replies on Sep 25, 2018:
@genessa Maybe, according to Christianities take on free will God would not be able to impose his will on man at all making him completely useless. However if we actually look at the Bible God used mind control without any reguard for free will. BTW free will is not addressed in the Bible. It like most religious dogma is attributed to the Bible but not in the Bible.

Who do priest confess to about their sexual abuse?
DavidLaDeau comments on Sep 24, 2018:
Many confide to each other, others to those in higher positions, some "to God" and others never confess. Priest are humans, and this must not be forgotten.
DavidLaDeau replies on Sep 25, 2018:
@pnfullifidian I agree, I did not wish to point fingers or infer anything towards Green heart. I have noticed lately that many see priest as a different or higher class of human beings. Even if they should or are held to higher standards they are not actualy any better than anyone else. They are simply thought to be. Thank you for calling attention to my post if I was not clear.

DavidLaDeau replies on Sep 20, 2018:
@hankster the world would be a lot better off if people could practice love instead of hate and resentment and fear. with this I agree. Preachers alos can be very harmful when teaching hate. There are too many scriptures in th Bible to cover that are harmful here is one put on the lips of Jesus. Luke 14:26 “If any man come to Me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.
What is the deal about having an "emotional support animal" and taking it on planes and so?
DavidLaDeau comments on Sep 16, 2018:
It may sound hokey but as we are social animals, pets do provide comfort for many. We had a dog that helps two autistic kids at school when they get worked up. It is also now very much abused by those who simply want to buck he system which causes more problems for those that have valid needs.

@David1955 In the cases of the autistic it is a matter of brain function not emotional or psychological issues. My dog used to wake us up in the night when my son was having seizures. Our friend was blind and had a seeing eye miniture horse, no kidding this is Colorado. There are valid applications of animal helpers and there is also those who ruin it for those that do need the help. Sometimes service animals in the case of mental problems help people get through times of crisis until they can get the help or management they need. Mental issues should not be viewed on the same level as other issues what are crutches on other subjects are necessities in the realm of mental health in many cases.

Very true, It is funny that Jesus was supposed to rise in three days according to Prophecy. If one looks at the Bible passages closely it was at best 2 1/2 days. He did not according to the gospels fufill the prophecy. This oversight is due to later christian writers that were unaware of the Jewish calendar using the Roman system we still use today. Can you be an Atheist/Agnostic and have a Conservative stance?
DavidLaDeau comments on Jun 27, 2018:
Agnostic/Atheism concerns belief in or knowledge of God. That is all people can have conservative political values without agreeing with the religious aspects of it. I am not saying that it is easy or common, only that it is possible.
DavidLaDeau replies on Jun 27, 2018:
@David1955 It is much simpler than, one does not have to seperate two conflicting ideas at all. One can have conflicting ideas and simply use the most convient at a given time with out thought of them conflicting at all.

DavidLaDeau replies on Jun 21, 2018:
I am completely with you and also disagree. The Bible is a mess and Christians are very skilled at defending thier interpretations of the Bible so you are correct it is usually hopeless to try to talk since into them. This said it is often a great tool! Few christians know the Bible at all. I take this approach. "You know when I was a Christian I just could not get ove how Jesus said that Blasphemy is an unforgivable sin in one book and that all sins are forgiven in another. They both can't be true, It makes me think the Bible was writen by men" In this case I am not making any accusation or attcking he Bible, thier faith, or them.I am simply sharing MY congnative dissience. They may think and wonder about that later. In most cases if we say that God sent bears to kill children for making fun of a bald man, Christians will siply say that is old testiment with out considering how horrable that actually is. If we mention that donkeys do not talk they will simple say God can do whatever he wants, so we must be very careful how and when we use the Bible. The important thing here to remembe is that most Fundamentalist will not listen at all if we talk about reason, facts, or science. They are trained to stop listening "to SATAN' if those subjects are brought up(as I was). They live by the Bible so it can be a good tool to use in convversations. You are correct! In personal situations and in general street epistemology or evaluationg truth claims is often our best tool. Thank you for inspiring this rant!

The thing is, to me christians are in my face all the time. When someone at the stroe mentions God they are trying to spread their beliefs even if they don't realize it. Do athiest say thank goodness my aunt trusted science instead of gGod to cure her cancer, off handedly at the grocery store? Christians WILL let you know GOD cured aunt betty at the store. DavidLaDeau comments on May 14, 2018:
Not at all. If God is described as unknowable and undetectable, Then I can not claim to "know" what I by definition can not know. Theist often do claim to know in this case what they can not know. By this definition agnosticism is simply honest.

DavidLaDeau replies on May 15, 2018:
@Coldo Sort of, There really wasn't as much done at the counsel as it is given credit for. The main thing they did was set the stage to centralize the religion. The Biblical canon as we know it today already existed they only reviewed other text and simply threw them out which was of no consiquence anyway. They did "authorize" a canon popular still today.
