So this is a poll... do atheists believe in capital in capital punishment?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 25, 2019:
Here is what I can tell you about capital punishment. If someone is a killer and you kill them, they will never kill anyone else again.
My journey to becoming an Agnostic.
DenoPenno comments on Oct 25, 2019:
Spiritual can mean so many different things to different people. I try not to use the word. In my area many who are not religious send the kids to church and Sunday School just to have some alone time for themselves, then use a need of religion to defend their actions. God becomes the baby sitter.

Such is the world of Charles Koch and others including Putin.

DenoPenno comments on Oct 23, 2019:
Being a JW is a cult in the same sense that Evangelical Christianity is a cult. There is great similarity. The big difference is that Evangelicals condemn the JW's because of "no soul belief." The idea of this scares them to death and both groups can "dis-fellowship" you for any number of reasons.
SHOULD AGNOSTICS & ATHEISTS CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 22, 2019:
It depends on what you mean by "celebrate." I personally do not believe that on this one night all the souls or demons come out and I do not leave them food to pacify them with in hopes they will leave me alone. As the only one in my household today I do not pass out candy to children who come to my door. It was fun when I was young but today I am an "A-Halloweenist." Those with families and children are free to think differently. I do not want to get together a guidebook on what atheists should or should not do. Once you do that you will end up with rules and having meetings and "we believe" lists hanging on walls somewhere.
Are Atheists racist
DenoPenno comments on Oct 22, 2019:
The two do not go together but not believing in gods does not guarantee that you cannot be a racist. "Atheist" simply means "without god." That's all it is in basic.
One of the posts I read indicated that being an atheist or an agnostic is a choice we make.
DenoPenno comments on Oct 21, 2019:
You can look at it either way. As a one time believer I was tortured mentally for not following what I believed and it was driving me nuts. Logic and reasoning set in after I heard Jerry DeWitt talk of his experiences on You Tube. Jerry was one of the first graduates of the Clergy Project. It was easy for me to identify with him in this and I felt as if my eyes were opened for the first time. My guilt was gone, fear was all gone, and it all made so much sense. There are no gods. Bare in mind that along with belief in gods everything supernatural went right out the window as well. If you believe in anything supernatural it is because you do not understand it. Logic and demonstrable evidence is the only way to go.
Why so many posts about God?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 21, 2019:
I no longer believe in the invisible man in the sky either but I am finding out that everyone has a different story about it. I stopped believing when Jesus didn't bring me a pony one year. It was Christmas and I asked him about that. He knew I was angry but he told me it was his birthday and not mine.

DenoPenno comments on Oct 21, 2019:
I saw a video on this. Very good.
[youtu.be]
DenoPenno comments on Oct 20, 2019:
AOC is exactly correct. When she talks of working without healthcare and less than a living wage and also believing that is just how things are and how they are supposed to be, this is how the powers that be want you to feel. Charles Koch and friends with the top 1 percent want all you can give them and to get it you have to have much less. The big job is done through distraction and disinformation, creating bias and racial discord so the oppressed feel they are missing out on something. Trump and others like him convince you of this when they are the very swamp that needs draining. It now appears that the entire Trump message is to convince you of how everyone before him was corrupt and he alone is restoring government. Trump is a liar and a conman.

Who else has given up dating Christains?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 20, 2019:
I haven't dated in quite some time. I'm shattered. This has as much to do with me as it does with women in general or my ex in particular. I have a lonely existence except for doing the things I always done and enjoyed as a much younger man. I hate no one and have no bad feelings. At the same time I have no delusions. I am so tired of being surrounded with drama, drama, drama. Discussion is medicine for the soul because it is sharing. The pace today for relationships is media driven and too much like Reality TV.
So yesterday my sons mom asked me If I became an atheist so I can do bad things (lol!).
DenoPenno comments on Oct 20, 2019:
Religious people do not think. I've heard them say that we non-believers are probably off somewhere taking logic and reasoning classes. Then they laugh. They think they have the answers because we admit that we do not have, and their book told them that they do.

In my lifetime it has always been to modify the story. As much as I hate that idea when it comes to religion we do that ourselves as we review our lives and what meaning they have. Humans are always modifying their story but if you are religious you simply make things up. I can look back on things I used to believe even just a short time ago that I do not believe today. How do I justify? Ignorance and stupidity because we are always learning whether we like it or not. If you are religious you just put that in god's plan.

Would you as an agnostic or atheist marry a Christian?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 18, 2019:
My ex was such a woman and I was a borderline believer when we married. During the marriage and during our "church going days" counciling helped us sometimes. By the time we split up I was a non-believer and she admitted she could see what I was talking about but remained a believer herself. Counciling does not always go in favor of your marriage however. It did in our case. Marrying a believer is not a problem** IF** they do not go to an Evangelical group. If they do, this can turn on you as the other one cries and pleads for you to accept an invisible man who can prevent an invisible part of you from burning in an imaginary place forever, and this happening after you die. In this last senario you will have no peace and be hounded forever until you give in or both of you are driven apart. Good luck.

Why an increase in the youth suicide rate? Is it because life is all about selling you something and this is how we determine your worth and value. Maybe we should throw in the ridiculous beliefs of religion that really do not help you in any way. Is it a mystery as to why people do not attend church? Years ago Charles Fort came up with ideas like"the earth is a farm and we are the crop." It implied an extraterrestrial origin but imagine that you have figured this out today and such activity comes from right here on earth. We are now the product.

DenoPenno comments on Oct 17, 2019:
My grandfather was Southern Baptist turned Jehovah Witness but he never went to meetings. I lived with my grandparents in my early formative years but have no memories of church of any kind. My aunt and uncle along with my cousins went to the JW hall weekly but country living and good food are the most of my memories from those days. Church and religion came later once my mom and stepfather came into the picture. By age 13 it was a very big thing.

In the case of your large animal above coming towards you, it has likely already smelled you, and whether or not it is a meat eater may not apply. I do not see anything about "faith" in this at all. You must avoid that large animal for reasons of your own safety unless it is domesticated in some way.

As usual their attacks change the subject and they have no facts to support what they claim. They wanted me to list a source when I had posted it right before them and they pick and choose which source is credible. Apparently Trump got elected and his "great wisdom" told which was "fake news." The reality of that phrase comes from media that was not friendly to him. What is Trump doing as POTUS? He is setting out to investigate everyone before him. He will get rid of that corruption. This is why he will claim he needs to stay and his supporters will believe him. What he is doing is not a new plan. Others have used it before but Americans are blind and they say "it could not happen here." It is in the works right now. Power corrupts!
Another arguement for universal health care in the US [jamanetwork.com]
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
The people of the United States deserve the same healthcare as our members of Congress and Senate. You may call this by any name that you want to. It is still a fact and would actually be a bit cheaper in the long run.
Anyone have an adult child who is struggling to figure out what they believe?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
I agree with you and I sympathize. My grown daughters tell me they "believe in their own way" even though they can see where I'm coming from. The youngest must feel that she has to believe because her oldest son was murdered. Only by believing will she get to see him again. It's things like this that sets a course for others to follow. Some of us wake up and some do not. The important thing to remember for all of us is that when you are dead it doesn't matter. Nobody is in heaven.
What activity has most consistently given you a feeling of inner peace?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
Lifelong pursuit of TV, movies, and music with a few drinks on the side and some sleeping. What I mean here is being able to bring the TV, movies, and music into my home for free.
In the city where you live, how an atheist person is looked upon or considered in general?
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
Don't advertize it. I'm in the middle of Missouri.
This beggars belief.

DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
This is exactly what Trump supporters try to do to the rest of us and especially in social media. Why? It's because they have no facts and the ones they claim as facts do a backwards time travel until you forget the original subject matter.
Trump vows to put a man on the moon. Someone should introduce him to Buzz Aldrin.
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
If Trump puts a man on the moon he would likely be sent the wrong way.

Perhaps I’m just noticing this more now that I’ll be turning 65 in March, but I’ve seen so ...
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
I have Coventry under the Aetna umbrella. It appears that some of my benefits with change and cost more this year like total out of pocket amounts and covered hospital stays, etc. but my co-pay to see a doctor or specialist is down. My current meds are generic and no cost to me, so I will keep what I have for now. If I lived in a county close by to me then United Healthcare would be the one. I like not paying for things when you also consider that I am paying for my Medicare monthly. (That's right. This is not a handout.) In case I have medical costs that go outrageous then I will start using my VA card. Right now perscriptions are $15 a pop.
Tulsi Says DNC, Corporate Media Are "Trying to Hijack Entire Election Process" [ivn.
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
Now that Zuckerberg has met Trump and agreed to run some political ads with known falsehoods we can look for lots of fun before election time. I've also heard that Trump has the info and certain people from the now defunct Cambridge Analytica working for him.
Anyone notice trumps increased use of profanity in the media since the start of the impeachment ...
DenoPenno comments on Oct 12, 2019:
I think the increased profanity is to cause his base to take him more seriously. He has to do something coz it appears that rats are abandoning the ship.
Does Poor Understanding of Physical World Predict Religious and Paranormal Beliefs?

YES, because when you do not know something just start making something up!

Again at my daughter's place. The Sangria drink is a non-alcohol beverage from Mexico. I get them at Save A lot or Dollar Tree.
