Georgia Makes Abortion A Crime Punishable By Life In Prison Or Death Penalty | Michael Stone
DenoPenno comments on May 10, 2019:
So, who gets life in prison? The woman, the doctor, or both. What business is any of this to government? When do we go into Christian sharia law?

This is normal but try not to make it excessive. My next stage (whenever it comes) is to move into an apartment for older folks. You drop a lot of possessions to do that but all the bills are paid. You have 3 rooms and limited things, free TV, but have to buy your own food. Some people in these places still have cars and some do not. It is after this that you go into assisted living at another place entirely.

We do not know everything. This first applies to religions. Next we get into science with ideas of a multiverse, Schroeder's cat, and various other improbabilities that they want to make probable. I like to stick with the science we know and have working models of. Let's not just make things up. I was once told that the idea of a "brain in a vat" was around in Plato's day. Really? Were they reading books with that idea or watching weird movies? I doubt. Knowledge evolves along with ideas.

15 Questions Robert Mueller Must Answer | The American Conservative
DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
This may never happen. Trump has now invoked executive privilege over the Mueller Report because he wants to keep it all secret as he crows about being vindicated at the same time. He thinks this report should just be filed away and it is all over now. His supporters seem perfectly happy with this as Donald Trump remains our biggest national emergency!

Do you ever have recurring fears that you have a hard time shaking?
DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
We have fear because of uncertainty and the unknown. Religion capitalizes on this and so did your parents. So do kids at school and many others that you know today. I'm able to look back at my fears and see them differently today. I can do this even if my fear was a short time ago. I can see how the fears change, and I hate change. Most people I know are not honest enough to admit this. They act as if they have always been exactly as they are now and have always believed the same. It simply is not so.

DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
There are a lot of angry people. This much is a fact. I'm not so sure they are all "wanting to go see god." Deep down inside of me I am beginning to feel that the anger is because they want everything to be about them and they find out it is not. Then they see from within that the world is all about money and there might not be a god.

As a Christian, I can remember mocking Islam and thinking how stupid the religion was.
DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
Your religion is always the best one and only one. All the others are fake. I once told this to a believer and she looked at me and says "So?" It's proof positive that they don't get it.
How do you de-stress?
DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
I used to do it through drink and music. The drink part doesn't work so well any longer. These days my time is spent between 2 of my computers (I have 3) and keeping them in top shape for music, movies, TV, etc. all around the world. They are my "projects." These days I'm greatly into IPTV and also using my router to block ads and totally change my DNS. If a woman was around we might try sex. That needs a lot of experimentation and practice also. :)
Seeing that we are all atheists agnostics what makes a person choose good over evil?
DenoPenno comments on May 9, 2019:
I have no desire to do bad things to others. "Bad things" are those that do harm in some way. This does not stop me from wanting harm to come to the man that killed my grandson. I have told my family that if one of us do that harm we will be dealt with by law enforcement. I stress this to an extreme and the killer is still alive. I have no doubt that someday he will be killed also, but I do not want to lose any other family members to get that job done. What you do can be traced even if you have others do the deed. We have watched him for close to 3 years now. Invisible men and a heavenly justice system have nothing at all to do with this. They never did and never will.

Weather got good enough here for me to cut half my grass in between rains, and I'll get the rest before the weekend. I'm diabetic and take meds but eat and drink what I want to. My feet tingle and I walk in New Balance shoes with special inserts. My daughter just gave me a prescription cream for a rash and it is working. I'm a dinosaur but only see my doctor every 6 months. I get my 4 prescriptions in 90 day supplies most of the time. I'm getting older and find my free time is all computer and how to do music and TV with one, watching damned near anything that I want to. I'm now blocking ads with my router, alternate DNS, and programs installed on my machines. Life is good and mostly planned. What is missing these days is a female of like mind.
Praying for the victims and working for the merchants of death.
DenoPenno comments on May 8, 2019:
Why do we keep believing this nonsense? We always hear or read "my prayers are with" or "I am praying," etc. IT IS A LIE! We have no evidence that any of these people are praying. They claim to be god believers and they "pray" to pass responsibility of something onto another area and away from themselves. It means that they have no responsibility and they take no personal responsibility. Wake up and join the real world. These people are not praying to anything but often when the time is right for it they bow their heads and pretend.

DenoPenno comments on May 8, 2019:

Is it possible to be an atheist and a Buddhist ?
DenoPenno comments on May 8, 2019:
Yes, it is possible but why would you want to? When I first became a Christian as a teen it was not because I was looking for some guidance or looking for anything to worship. It was because I was taught about god and they knew there is only "one true god." I wanted to carry this idea into the ministry and "save the lost" but in time that idea became redundant. Along with it was the very idea of a spiritual life because that term goes back into concepts of religion. BUT if what you are doing gives you solace without the ill fated promise of being with a creator forever and ever if you are a good boy, then more power to you. Being firmly planted in the here and now with peace of mind is a great gift.
Sam Harris’s argument is that the real villains are the religious moderates.
DenoPenno comments on May 7, 2019:
Certainly there is a clash between right and right. This is exactly why Christian believers have over 4000 denominations. If you do not agree with your neighbor just start another group. This is how the nonsense works, then believers have the gall to get angry with you for not believing.

Evangelist Declares White House To Be "Holy Ground" And Commands "Demonic Networks To Be Scattered" ...
DenoPenno comments on May 6, 2019:
The "holy ground" of the White House has been severely desecrated in recent times. This is why the "demonic networks" should be scattered. In actuality if you believe this "holy ground" nonsense then you are another one that believes we were founded on god, Jesus, and the bible. It never was true or even close to being true.

Just last week a non-religious person at my work said that America was founded on Christian beliefs. I gave him a funny look and said that most of the Founding Fathers were Deists. Then I added that he needed to back up and do a little more studying here. It's strange that most people today take a Deist as a god believing Christian when that simply was not the case.

DenoPenno comments on May 6, 2019:
I have trouble respecting beliefs of others. As for them having a right to believe as they want to, only a fool would try to stop that idea. The world is full of religious fools. I can respect people if they respect me.

DenoPenno comments on May 3, 2019:
Christian public presence is reinforced by lies. It always has been. Constantine's mother gave him nails from the true cross of Christ. He was told to wear them in his crown or have them on his horse if he was in battle. (Jesus Christ! How many nails were there?) Later in the 1970's hitchhiker's that were picked up on the highways were know to suddenly blurt out "Jesus is returning soon" and they would simply vanish from the vehicle. This is the nature of Evangelical religion.
Just random thoughts.
DenoPenno comments on May 3, 2019:
I hear you. Just this morning on local news they report a situation of 2 people in a life threatening situation and how they were praying to be rescued at sea. Finally a ship named "Amen" picked them up and they were saved. Someone fabricated this story to fit a religious belief. I have no problem with the ship's name. My problem is that the 2 people were "praying to be rescued." I'm sure that prayer must have been high in their survivalist agenda.

St. Louis-area cop indicted for shooting shoplifting suspect
DenoPenno comments on May 2, 2019:
I have wondered about this since it happened, and yes the training does need to be changed. There is never a reason to shoot a shoplifting suspect unless they have a visible weapon and appear to reach for it. Reasons to taser such a person should also exist before that is done as well. Did she provide open resistance to the officer? As for that case in Texas I'm finding media shots at trying to get the cop a fair trial that rile me a bit. They keep saying that Amber Guyger mistakenly shot and killed her neighbor. That bothers me. Neighbor my ass! She was on the wrong floor of the apartment building and claims she thought this was her apartment. Working a full shift beforehand does not excuse this sort of behavior and poor judgement and her trial will have to be a complete circus.
Do scientific and religious explanations necessarily contradict each other?
DenoPenno comments on May 2, 2019:
Of course they contradict each other. There is absolutely nothing scientific about religion. I find that religions just make shit up. Science actually tests things and if it no longer fits the model they find evidence that does fit.

Given that life in itself is meaningless, what do we have in mind when we talk about the "meaning ...
DenoPenno comments on May 2, 2019:
I can agree with this. Facing it differently, too many people want to turn over their meaning in life to an imaginary being. This is because they have no meaning in life or have not realized that they themselves give their life meaning. Life is what you make it. Life itself has no meaning. When you bestow meaning upon life that is when you start making things up.

Many years ago I found out that relatives can be toxic to you. They lie and they often want to move in on you and mooch off you. I've had it happen. Today is different. I forbid it at all costs and I do not loan money. I do not take anybody in even for short times. Not so long ago local relatives were coming to see me and one said it took them a while to find my place. I'm in plain sight but jokingly told them I try to keep it hidden. There is no law that says you must like or be around your relatives. The more you are around them the more likely one of them will want to impose themselves upon you. Loaned money never gets paid back and I've had a 2 week stay turn into 7 months before. That was years ago. Today I live alone.

Glad you got some relief as that buildup isn't good. I never blow off steam about my ex because I know that people can end up going in different directions. My views used to be important to me in that I wanted to tell others so badly how I feel. With time I have found out that others do not understand anyway because they are not sure of what you said even as you just said it! Then I look at my own views and see instantly how they are different now than just a few years ago, and often in a short time. Even so, the discourse between yourself and others is healthy and promotes well being.

My time in the Army and in Europe taught me a lot and I changed over the years, hence the 12 year marriage to my ex. I'm now 72. In conversations with a neighbor we are talking and black people come up. This guy tells me "we sent them all to college and then they do this or do that." Wait! Who are the "we" that sent them to college? Who are "they" that did this or that? Most black people are more educated than many whites are, and you can see this man's racism a mile away. Many blacks work hard to go to college. I'm learning to avoid people like that certain neighbor and I meet many like him every day in mid Missouri.

Writings we have about the man were written long after his time and not written by those whose names are on the books. The names are just to give the writing some authority.

Vaccinations should never be mandatory but everyone should know the consequences of not being vaccinated. In some cases you might not be able to travel or attend meetings or classes if you had a certain disease and that just makes common sense. Children should not be given vaccinations at too young of an age, but I have had all of mine as recommended for the last 72 years.
I’m new to this .

Welcome. I'm in Missouri.
Another cartoon about the Notre Dame Cathedral and the American Constitution under Trump.
DenoPenno comments on Apr 25, 2019:
Certainly Trump has wrecked the office. A man I know says the way to handle illegals crossing our borders is to shoot them dead as they cross and let the bodies lay where they fall. He is OK with it because he thinks Trump would be OK with it. Then in Arizona we had a self appointed vigilante group rounding up illegals. It recently came out that the leader had plans of killing Hillary and Obama. The Orange Turd endorses this sort of crap by not addressing it at all so he will appeal to his base. Then his supporters in government want to surround him and protect him at all costs because they enjoy being in power. Donald Trump should have been removed way before anything went this far. It's appalling how so many claim you cannot remove a sitting president. This is all a mockery of law and our Constitution.
Explainer: Congress no longer runs a jail, so just how powerful are its subpoenas? [reuters.com]
DenoPenno comments on Apr 25, 2019:
Just this morning Trump was ranting a raving again as usual. He said he is probably the most transparent president. I agree because I can see right through him.
A meme that says what i said in 2016 and it's true NOW
DenoPenno comments on Apr 23, 2019:
I certainly agree. Democrats manufacture ideas. Conservatives manufacture their own facts. That is more true today than it ever was.
what is an atheist? what do they believe?

What type of lover do you want?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 23, 2019:
It all sounds great except for the politics. I could have a theist wife or girlfriend but never an opposite political one. Why? It's because the political lies are worse and the GOP also covers politics and religion.
How many of you feel discriminated against for been Atheist?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 23, 2019:
Current laws are enough if we enforce them. Discrimination is the bad thing.

Missouri Bill Banning Anonymity of Atheist Plaintiffs in Lawsuits Passes House ...
DenoPenno comments on Apr 23, 2019:
Another douchebag believer who thinks that we get our laws and morals from the Ten Commandments and that such nonsense as this should be put in court houses. Wake up, folks. Gods have nothing to do with it.

DenoPenno comments on Apr 23, 2019:
Planned Parenthood I believe in. "Abortion clinics" not so much. These 2 are not the same and the right of a woman to have control over her own body is a must. When you make statements that women are using abortion as birth control you go down the rabbit hole of religion. It's plain and simple and yet, the bible said nothing about it.

Welcome, and remember that life itself is a rollercoaster ride. I've never had a therapist but a non-religious one would be the only way to go.

What's your opinion on the burning of the Notre Dame?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 22, 2019:
As to why it burned it must have been the old debil. I am so glad that they managed to save that piece of the original cross along with an original nail. These are so important to believers. When Elvis died in the toilet I'm surprised that they didn't save his crap. :) BTW, what happened to the Shroud of Turin? Was it housed there too?

This is typical of the Christianity today. That's what makes it so sad.
