No, it was never banned. It was simply going in a wrong direction. People say that Madalyn Murray O'Hair had prayer banned in schools but what was banned was Bible reading. This was in 1963. A year before that the Supreme Court banned officially sponsored prayer in public schools. Now here is where it gets strange. Most of my school mates are theists. They remember when prayer in public schools was allowed and they remember it as Baptists and Pentecostals. What I remember is teachers saying "those that want to can now have one minute of silent prayer." In my area of mid Missouri it was nothing more and nothing less.

The best thing is to ignore it if possible. If that cannot be done explain it in your words without damning the other parent. I have found many times that my real name comes through with Google, especially if I have signed in using said name and then posted. This is not always true. I Googled myself recently and found that Google says I am Michael Penn, Sean Penn's brother. They even have my picture there too. On one site I am known as Michael Penn but it is a shortening down of my own name. I do not know Sean Penn of his brother and I'm not trying to pose as either one of them. I set the stage in telling the story to my insurance lady because I knew deep down that she would think I was going to go crazy on this lady over the language issue just like others on TV or the Internet have done. It also shows the position my insurance lady holds. This is why she started laughing. *There could be a thousand reasons this lady I talked with does not speak English. The obvious one is that she has not learned the language. I'm not the ICE informer or the language police. These are the tactics of Nazi Germany. I do not know anything about the lady I talked to in the store that day and it's not my job to assume anything. She might be a communist. For all I know she is atheist. Maybe secretly. Maybe if we can get a crowd gathered around her we could water board her and find out. * I brought my own (now ex) wife here from Kenya and I did all her paperwork. Today she is a US citizen. There was never a "set of papers" that she was supposed to carry with her at all times. As far as I know this has not changed over 12 years later. Such ideas make good movie fodder and also play right along with the extreme right. Some of this is turning average Americans into idiots today.

You can do this. I haven't smoked now in 18 years. I tried twice before and didn't make it. You have to really want to quit. A non smoking buddy is good but know this also -- you cannot hang around with all your old smoking friends and become a non smoker. That doesn't work and they will not want you to succeed even if they say they are all for you. They would not want you to succeed at something they cannot do. I was a 2 pack a day smoker.

My grandparents were Jehovah Witness but my mom got out of that early on. My stepdad was Southern Baptist and he and mom ended up Pentecostal, so my first church experiences were "full gospel." I lived with my grandparents before that but they never attended meetings.
