Most of us do follow our ancestors in a much closer link than you are listing. This is exactly why we have so many religious people. They conclude that their religion was good enough for the parents, grandparents, and great great grandparents so it has to be good enough for them also. To deviate from this in any way is to disrespect the ancestors and nobody wants to believe they lived "holy lives" when there was never any reward for doing so. IMHO this is why people stay in church. It's a club with a sense of belonging.

According to the gospels the genealogy of Jesus is traced through Joseph. Some misguided people even claim at one point they use a genealogy of Mary, but this would never have been allowed. The person doing the recording simply got confused. If we are to assume a lineage through Joseph this would also solve parentage and DNA questions. There is no way to get DNA from the Invisible Man and we must conclude that the original kingdom of the person we call Jesus was meant to be an earthly kingdom. This is what the genealogy proves. Death and confusion kind of mess up that plan, so the bible took another direction. It is my full belief that the Internet will prove to be the death of god. Modern apologists just keep making it all up and religious viewpoints change, but this will not stop real facts from being known quickly as they emerge. Archaeology has already proven most of the bible to be false and only the religious will disagree with that. This is why they keep setting up new "institutes" to spread their beliefs. Archaeology does not come from any new institute at all. It is entirely scientific and does not involve faith.

Most of us do not even know what vitamins are but we take them. My older daughter is a nurse and her view is much like that of your friends. My job is a needed service and my corporation is split on mask wearing. My mask is around my neck constantly and pulled up over half the time. It is a needed move that helps all, but big problems are present in not knowing which way the labor force is going. Bo Pilgrim, Tyson, and many others seem to have no ethics or morals and this spills over into Amazon and others. Practices of the food industry alone may be connected to the pandemic. Greed prevails. Then we have the working from home move which may become permanent. Many people have no ideas of unions today or what they do.
