When I lived in Texas and was an in-home repairman I had calls in the 1970's style mansions built there in the booming hey days of Texas oil. Many times I found frozen water pipes under a sink and the cure was simply to open up the cabinet doors to let in the main room air. Everything was poorly insulated. On top of that the houses are built on concrete slabs. If it gets cold enough for the ground to freeze and crack one of those, there is no fix for that house. If would no longer have any value.

I have relatives in the Houston area that say they have had no electric since 2 AM on 2-15-21. Social media friends in Austin have said the power is being cycled on and off, back and forth just so they can have electricity. It might go 2 or 3 hours and be turned off a while. Lots of things come into play here but it is cold everywhere and that part was not figured into the power structures in some Texas areas. Houston is 14 degrees and Dallas is 6 degrees. I lived in Texas 20 years and only remember cold once, but it was not like this. I'm in mid Missouri where it is zero right now and is said to be in the minus numbers over night. So far I have had no electric problems but the storm door did freeze shut once.

Thank you so much for the advice. Let me tell you how this goes with me. I'm an alcoholic. For years I had a stressful job where I drank whiskey and beer at night to relax. My music went right along with that. I was a functioning alcoholic who went right on to work the next day with no problems. That has all changed now. I might manage 2 or 3 whiskey drinks or even that much in beer. That's when my body shuts me down. There is no "buzz" or fun in drinking any more and I have to stop. I don't get sick. I just can't go on. Whatever this is has saved my health but try and imagine an alcoholic who cannot drink. It really pisses me off. I cannot get buzzed but also really do not want to be buzzed any longer. My frige probably has about 30 beers in there. They go back at least 6 months when I thought I was going to drink that night but could not. Every now and then I give some beer away. This pisses me off mentally but never enough to punch anything or treat people badly. It's all just an unexpected change in my life even though it is for the better.

I often get really sad and disgusted when I read some of the political posts from Shawnee locals.

I was once a member of Atheist Nexus but it shut down. Someone told me where those people went and I went to the website but did not like it's layout. I've also forgotten it's name. I might visit it to keep up with postings of those I remember from before but I could not be a member of that site. It is not laid out right and like I said, now I have forgotten it's name. LOL

People everywhere always tend to claim their family does it's own sex education and that things like this are so personal and private. From my own experience I can say that sex education is so private that it never does get taught. Conservatives are too embarrassed. I got lucky. There used to be a monthly mag called "Sexology." I'm pro life and I can't take in a baby. I live alone and must admit if I was forced to take in a baby that nobody wanted I would do all I could legally to get that baby a home.
