Exactly, but it is not just one book - 66 of them at least and more if you are Catholic. Some of the problems are that they were never meant to be only one book and that one buybull book came into existence some 300 plus years after Jesus. This fact alone is why it has so many contradictions. I agree with some of the others here if you do still live with your parents. Keep your breaking away as your little secret for now. It's not immediately important that you talk to them about it.

Do you know anything about Deism?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 16, 2020:
In Deism the creator god made everything and set it into motion, then simply went away. You cannot ever know this god personally and he does not talk to or communicate with you. There are no sacred writings or bibles and Deism was popular before we had science to explain things. Many of our Founding Fathers were Deists.

DenoPenno comments on Apr 15, 2020:
I'm not sure what to say and I cannot claim either of you had COVID-19. Obviously you both had something. A man at my workplace came down with flu, recovered, then took off until this pandemic comes into better control because he does not want to give it to his invalid mother. A girl at my workplace thought she had the virus and her doctor sent her for testing. They would not even test her and sent her back. She does seem very fearful to an extreme. Many of us have our own "remedies" for lots of things. I do my own version of cowboy nose blowing and I also us hydrogen peroxide in my ears. I also drink 6 oz. of aloe vera juice a day mixed with other ingredients. A friend of mine says "this will not help you with COVID-19" I never told him that any of it had anything to do with COVID-19. He only assumed so out of his own fear.

The article is too long but yet a true story. It is an example of believers getting something and running with it as far as they can. This type behavior is in their blood, but they made it all up just the same. In my lifetime we first had religious commentary on scripture. Later on this had to evolve into apologists because preachers and ministers needed an active person to back them. The religious continue to make things up.

What was your journey into becoming an Atheist/Agnostic?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 15, 2020:
With the ministry pushed at me from my teen years, I rebelled and got away from that idea but had a lifetime of much guilt and grief because of it. Many years went by with these bad feelings. Somewhere about 2011 or so I discovered Jerry DeWitt on You Tube. He seemed to be telling my story and then for the first time the "scales fell off my eyes" as the Buybull says about Saul of Tarsus. These days I am sort of a preacher in reverse and I operate on logic and evidence.
Is there a meaning to life and if there is, does it even matter?

This is terrible and nothing we can do except shelter in place. The bad thing is that I've found 2 fake claims about the virus. 1. The first fake claim is from the show "It's Supernatural" where Sid Roth has a man on that claims god showed him all about it in great detail in a dream and it's a created virus by the Democrats to get rid of Donald Trump. 2. This second claim of 5G technology causing coronavirus is also to get rid of Trump and claims 5G is a direct virus cause for that purpose or it can weaken your immune system to where you get the infection. I suppose this came about because there are billions to be made in 5G and if America doesn't get the contracts then Huawei in China will. It's a shame in these tragic times that scammers spreading fake news will go this far to confuse everyone about a very serious worldwide infection. I find the too often COVID-19 WH updates to be equally as disturbing. Non-supported claims are made often.

A person can use the cosmos to claim everything was made just right for us and try to claim a creator. These days I use things like my shoes. Animals do not have shoes and I have them, so they must have been made just for me. Once I understand how others all have different shoes with different sizes and all, I might have to change that idea into "many shoes." This would mean to me that a person using the "made for us" idea to explain a god should start believing in "many gods." Survival of the fittest explains it all on our planet. DNA, germs, us, other animals, etc. We cannot explain the universe. Beyond that we have evidence that the bible as we know it came into being some 300 years after Jesus. I put this together with the knowledge that we do not know everything and also cannot know everything. I cannot tell you how it all began.

Good luck to you. It isn't even rational to believe that a crucified man would be given a tomb, and especially when contemporary history of the time says nothing about him. That's right. No mention of poor Jesus from Romans or his own people. No mention of his name by anyone who lived in his timeline. No mention of anyone outside of the bible reference who was tried and crucified in this manner and the bible is not history. If a man was important enough to have an audience with Pilate, history on both sides should have said something. The reality is that Pilate most likely would not have cared and chances are he and Jesus could not speak the same language. Those that want you to believe in Jesus had to fabricate a story about why he died.

Thanks for this posting. You reminded me that all this courthouse posting of the Ten Commandments is really about Moses and not Jesus. DenoPenno comments on Apr 13, 2020:
This virus will change many things forever but the religious will continue to believe their nonsense and think their invisible god got them through it all. As long as we have those who think the earth is only 6000 years old this will all continue. Once we get away from Evangelicals everyone else that believes will continue to think that bible stories tell us all about life even if they are allegories. The story of Passover is just one of these.

The desires of the current regime and those behind it are to get us all in control and have us all working for them. The current trend does not favor full-time employment as we had in the past. Instead there is some security in computer tech regions and almost zero security in other job markets that are mostly going part-time. This is because "we the people" have become the product. We will continue to produce for them if they give us all sorts of 5G gadgets and more. I've met people who claim they can have it all if they work 3 jobs. Some are trying it. This is Koch and Mercer insanity as currently administered through the Trump Administration. It cannot last and will not last but nobody knows how and when it will end.
Part of my indoctrination as a believer was that humans have souls and other creatures do not.
DenoPenno comments on Apr 12, 2020:
I do not think humans have souls, but rather I believe the bible saying that you became a living soul. All of us are living souls and we therefore can also become a dead soul. A "soul" is not something you have or possess, or was created or born with. It is not some magic invisible butterfly that instantly flies off to god when your body dies. You are the soul alive or dead. Thanks to Saul of Tarsus and a fear of dying this all got turned around and changed into utter nonsense. When you are dead you are dead. Now into modern believers claiming they have a soul and animals do not. This must be some statement against evolution because the believers think they are so much higher than the animals. They think they have souls and the animals do not, but spirit animals are all over the bible. In trying to answer your questions we have fear and cherry picking at their best and nobody facing reality. To go a step farther there are no gods and no heavens or Valhala.

DenoPenno comments on Apr 10, 2020:
First to understand is that anyone can sue for any reason. It happens all the time. Can a family sue a church if a person went to a service and got covid? The person who got covid went voluntarily I suppose. Proving just when and where they got this infection would be hard to do. Maybe impossible. Can they sue the pastor? You can always sue somebody but the real issue here is does the church actually own the building. If not and they pay a landlord it would be in his best interest to lock and bar the doors in these bad times of covid so that he, the landlord, could not be sued later.

DenoPenno comments on Apr 10, 2020:
I think the Evangeloons ignore the real facts and cherry pick the bible and world events. Very often they are trying to line them up together and view world events as current history. Is a pink moon a blood moon, and is there really going to be a "falling away" caused by some world political leader who has supernatural powers? If you have to have "a mark" in order to buy and sell is that mark your social security number? Is the Devil really Jesus' brother like a Mormon told me? Did we all come from planet Kolob? In my mind the "falling away" came from critical thinking skills and not someone who deceived us. Deceit came through religion.
I was raised as a Christian and only recently became an atheist.
DenoPenno comments on Apr 10, 2020:
Instead of this approach try teaching your young children critical thinking. Do this through biblical talk as well as other ways. Trying to turn them is going to come back and bite you in the ass. Critical thinking religiously might involve asking them if certain things in the bible have ever happened before, and if they think it might happen again. Examples would be talking snakes, talking donkeys, bones of a prophet bringing the dead back to life, people unharmed inside a fiery furnace, etc. this approach can be a sort of bible study. In the end your children will have to make up their own minds. When I look back it was really my parents who decided I was going to be the greatest evangelist who ever lived. They did this after I showed an interest in god and religion. I'm sure this is a factor in my becoming atheist later on. It was a belief in nonsense that finally got me into real critical thinking. This happened because I investigated. Teach young children how to investigate.

My stepdad once told me I was going to split hell wide open. I wonder if people could then escape? Wasn't it jesus who reportedly did that?
Louisiana Pastor: 'True Christians Do Not Mind Dying' Of Coronavirus If Infected At Church | ...
DenoPenno comments on Apr 9, 2020:
These true Christians might be like true Scotsmen. It is the logic of this pastor that "proves" true Christians died for their faith close to 2000 years ago. The big problem at that time is Jesus and his followers were mostly Jewish. True believers had not invented the Christian yet. LOL
It really is all Trump's fault, an interesting read from the Atlantic [theatlantic.com]
DenoPenno comments on Apr 9, 2020:
Many of us knew it was Trump's fault even before the election.
Weeks and weeks!!!!
DenoPenno comments on Apr 9, 2020:
Funny. I can already imagine most of them inventing new bullshit.

A doctor took a friend of mine off all medications and he killed himself. He had been on many of those meds for most of his life. True story.

He's a fool. Whoever owns the building should put a lock on the doors to keep them out. To be absent from the body either means you are dreaming or you are dead.
Hello, I've been MIA for some time but today i needed to be on here.
DenoPenno comments on Apr 8, 2020:
I understand your vent but your friend most likely feels that her religion calls for her to "save and convert you" because that's what religions do. It means she doesn't want you to die and we have to admit the religious think they have all the answers. They are also the most fearful. Let's take another look where the lord worshiper and singer wants to "sing hymns to the lord to save us." Now suppose that this idea could work and here you all are in heaven later singing praises to this lord forever and ever. I would not be happy and the lord must be a narcissistic bastard. Maybe he would even call CNN "fake news."

Expert: Trump’s ‘deadly’ coronavirus briefings display ‘anti-human’ psychology ...
DenoPenno comments on Apr 8, 2020:
I can expect this from an idiot like Trump. What i did not expect is that some of his supporters now claim COVID-19 is fake and caused by worldwide 5G technology in order to get Trump out of office. As usual, the Democrats and "Deep State" are behind it. How gullible and ate up can you get?
Who avoids discussing religion and spirituality?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 8, 2020:
I can agree with your every word. One of my long time friends that I met around age 12 or 13 remains religious and recently he was talking to me on how he is so comforted by reading in Daniel about the fiery furnace and those inside unhurt and untouched. I'm thinking it is time for that eye roll again. My mind asks how would anyone ever take this as being real in any way. I suppose it represents his belief that Jesus protects him. Again, my mind asks "in what way, and protection from what?" (Yes, friends. I attribute my well being to a doodilly do, or you can call it whatever you want to.) Meanwhile in FB again I find that Jesus and the Devil are arm wrestling and the ones that post it claim only true believers will re-post this on their page. Many of us forget that Jesus will do something for you but only after he gets enough likes and thumbs up. I think I was born into the wrong world but I do remember being one of these years ago.
Well sure.

I never understood it. They once tried to scam me into it many years ago, but L. Ron Hubbard was an alcoholic science fiction writer. He always wanted to start a religion. I'm not sure how you get around those facts and crazy beliefs as well.
Here’s my conundrum about Easter and Passover.
DenoPenno comments on Apr 7, 2020:
Jesus claimed that he would not change "one jot or tittle" of the law. Modern believers claim that he abolished or "fulfilled" the law by his death and resurrection. Maybe they forgot that he was Jewish and not Baptist or Pentecostal. This is what now sets us free. His glorious sacrifice of himself. Let's try a new look. They wanted to explain why Jesus died. As for Easter and Passover keep in mind that these are religious holidays and they change from year to year on any known calender. This is a solid fact. Now tell me when Jesus died. What year was it? We have no idea when Jesus was born or when he died but believers will fight you tooth and nail and claim you are lying. In this time of COVID-19 it might be wise to put a little lamb's blood on your door post anyway.

Bible stories may not be factual - but they are nonetheless true
DenoPenno comments on Apr 7, 2020:
**Bible stories may not be factual - but they are nonetheless**-- an alternative fact and we all know that alternative facts are not facts at all. They are lies. I mean, let's face facts. Is it true that the bones of Elijah the prophet brought a dead man back to life? There is only one answer to that question. Now get productive and search bible verses for some other non-truths. There are plenty of them in there.
CNN Host To Pastor: How Is It 'Pro-Life' To Pack People Into Church Amid Pandemic?
DenoPenno comments on Apr 6, 2020:
Christians are stubborn to the end. The way they approach this pandemic is like they approach their persecution. They believe they are persecuted because their book says they will be. They remain stubborn in ways that brings on the persecution, especially in other countries. In this time of COVID-19 they claim the right to worship freely because if you limit their worship it is persecution to them. Let's go a step further and also call it stupidity.

This SOB didn't see anything and no god showed him anything. He had a politically motivated dream that is in reality all pro-Donald Trump. I would imagine it all came from a script to keep this nonsense going. If you want to believe him you will continue to go along with Cult 45 baloney. The other man here died and went to heaven. Yada, yada, yada. No he didn't. Make you a bet his body stayed right here all the time and he never went anywhere. So much for Evangelicals and supernatural scammers in a world turned upside down today.

DenoPenno comments on Apr 6, 2020:
I wish they could also charge the teens with assault, ignorance, and stupidity. Were the teens wearing a mask? Probably they were just bullying. Trump is causing this by what he says and allows in this hard time. People need to stop taking what he says as normal and call him out on it for every single incident of this kind. Why? Because it is not normal. He is promoting hatred and fear.
