Incredible, but let's explore another possibility. By doing this and not admitting he was dead could they draw or continue to draw certain money? Then, later to get out of the fraud they might claim a religious belief.

DenoPenno comments on Dec 3, 2019:
I remember times in my life that my religious failings had me crying like a baby. Gradually I got stronger and saw that this was all a cruel joke played upon human kind. All the gods were false. No gods are trying to talk to you or tell you anything. Mankind is being played. My key to understanding it all is to study the bible. Learn when, where, and how it all came into being as we know it. Understand that others before that time knew nothing of it, - only parts. Infallible words of a creator god become a flawed mess put into a supposed story line of existence that never happened. Other religions upon examination follow a similar line. It is all myth.
Anyone here experience this internal conflict?
DenoPenno comments on Dec 3, 2019:
I don't worry about it much. If any of them are too concerned with saving me I will stop talking to them so much. Also, keep in mind that couples have been broken up because the believer is almost in tears knowing that the loved one might die and be taken to an unknown place and punished forever for not following an invisible man who lives in the sky. This is what extreme religion does when we all should just be living our lives.
Atheist/Agnostic

It isn’t just about Santa. People hold onto childish beliefs for way too long I think.

Funny, but I agree. I'm also seeing post on Facebook right now by grown relatives in their 50's who say Jesus is the reason for Christmas. Apparently they have never examined any facts.

DenoPenno comments on Dec 3, 2019:
I like Silverman's mind take on atheism but he sure went wrong on the sexuality part with his exposure and job loss do to some totally stupid sexual activity that came out of hiding. The best I can say is that he wasn't thinking. Of course, neither were the women involved. Exact details can be looked up. As for certain take aways that I got from this venture here they are with my answers: I'm going to spit in your mouth - like hell you are. You can't say "no" to me - the hell I can't. Think of a good safe word - how about "stop" we are not going to do this. I'm aware that playing doctor and nurse as a kid evolved into lots of silly sexual games as seemingly adults, but not much of this bullshit interests me. Some people have needs that go a bit too far.
Atheist/Agnostic
DenoPenno comments on Dec 3, 2019:
Not very much. Everyone wants to get technical and start this up again, but I am an Agnostic Atheist. Why do I tell you this? It is because neither side of the god argument can produce proof and the ones making the claims have the burden of proof.

DenoPenno comments on Dec 2, 2019:
Religion was a big waste of my time but without it I would not be where I am today as a logical freethinker. You might say I hate religion and I find very little to discuss really. The bible proves nothing and it finally came together as we know it today some 300 years after the time of Jesus. Manipulated by Paul and Constantine, what sort of "authority" does this book have? In my mind, none! This does not stop people from saying "there still could be a god." OK, which god and what exactly do you mean? Why are you needing and wanting a god? There could be a teapot orbiting around Venus or pixies living in my shoes but I highly doubt it.

DenoPenno comments on Dec 2, 2019:
Be calm but watchful. My step-dad used to smoke like a chimney and say all the "praise gods" he could while watching Jimmy Swaggart all the time. He also thought that god would heal mom of cancer of the pancreas. Common sense goes out the window when you get older. I'm 73 and cannot imagine myself like this in another 10 years or so. I don't think mine will come that way. According to my insurance lady her mother was sending money to every politician or religious group that asked for it. The woman took it all upon herself as her duty. It's no wonder that she had to be stopped by getting a durable power of attorney over her. Otherwise there would have been no money left for the bills. If your situation gets to that point make sure the POA is "durable." A good attorney will know what you mean, and this is what we did with my step-dad in the end also. He's now in the nursing home.

Do you think it is about ABB?
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
Bloomberg is supposed to be the distraction to draw away from Trump and is spending millions on it but will it work out that way? It could backfire. Most of the Dem candidates have already shot themselves in the foot or the head. Why would I vote for you if you are going to take things away? Then we have news of Obama saying he will be against anything too radical from the DNC but this supposedly goes back to 2015. It meant that Obama was not for Bernie but was really for Hillary. That was then, this is now, but Hillary even says she is thinking of running again as an Independent. Good luck with that. I'm not happy with any of it but I see this as driving Trump right back for 4 more years. At the end of that time I see that he may not want to leave.

Why god created Atheists?
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
I don't believe that gods created anything. People want to use creation to explain the "chicken or egg" mystery. What I want to know is the name of the first disease germ.
freshly minted ex-facebooger: I just deactivated my Facebook account.
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
Sorry you had such a bad Facebook experience. I'm still there as an activist and have had bad algorithm experiences but I learned how to deal with them. I have programs to beat most all pop-ups and had to turn off "following" for some I know who support the guy with the fake orange tan and fake hair. The fact that you recognize someone should not mean you are following them. FB wants as much reaction as they can get. I only post likes to memes that support my political beliefs and add words often to cause others to think. This does work because I have seen many of my words and phrases come back to me later through others. This tells me I am doing a good job without doing any town hall type public speaking. Please post and discuss here. Say anything you like. Understand that I will not start hating you unless you have fake hair and a fake tan. Hate is a strong word. :)
What do you think about 'intuition?
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
Intuition is a feeling based mostly on past experiences in which you have added your logical views. It varies in many of us because our logic also varies, but a lot of intuition is based also upon repetition. I make jokes on how the phone rang and I immediately thought "this has happened before" but similar things have a lot to do with how we think. Sometimes the inner mechanism is hidden from us. As a teenager I had a girlfriend that I felt so close to and I could tell through intuition if she was in town that day. I would go to town and there she was babysitting for family. Since I wanted this to happen I saw my intuition as something supernatural or a "power" that I had. Needless to say I only remember the times she was there in town. I do not recall making the trip to find she was not there that day. In similar fashion if intuition was truly real I would have won the lottery by now. True believers say this has not happened because you cannot "use your power" for gain. WTF? This worked with my girlfriend visits. Well, most of the time. :)
Or the fact that Adam and Eve were the first but Cain and Able had wives.
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
It is based on incest and is all a part of god's plan. God was once so upset with sinful mankind that he decided to destroy them all and drown everyone except for 8 people. In his great wisdom this left it all open to once again populating the earth by incest. Just leave it to god.
A FRAGMENT OF CHRIST’s MANGER IS BACK IN THE HOLY LAND! HOW DESPERATE ARE CHRISTIANS FOR ...
DenoPenno comments on Dec 1, 2019:
You are totally correct. In fact, the crucifixion and resurrection is an attempt to explain why Jesus died. Either they had to give it all up at his death or change directions. If Jesus had lineage trough Joseph to David and other patriarchs he could only have become supernatural and a son of god at his death. We can thank Saul of Tarsus for a lot of this. Keep in mind that the faithful have always had relics. Constantine's mother had several original nails from the cross. She wanted her son to use them for his protection. (There must have been a lot of nails. LOL) Then we have the bones of Elisha in the OT that actually brought a man back to life. (It is not clear if he had to die again later or not.) We should find those bones and they could be used by modern hospitals. The ever ongoing search for Noah's Ark seems to always crop up into this insanity as if wooden boat relics on a mountain would prove anything. We have no relic of the Jesus manger or tomb but these and others keep popping up to reinforce that it might be true, or could be true. I view the produced evidence as just the opposite.
Christian Zealot Beheads Girlfriend Because She Refused To Repent | Michael Stone
DenoPenno comments on Nov 30, 2019:
Repent from what? That is always the big question.
Ah, we're all just a bunch of fuck ups.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 30, 2019:
One reason that we all fuck up is the fact that we are always doing the same things all the time. If I eat and drink coffee I can know that I did the same thing yesterday. It's true. Then if my phone rings I say "this has happened before." Repeated wrong info fucks you up. :)

A path to whittling away religious power.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 29, 2019:
I agree with your every word, but the greater question is how do we stop them? How could anyone ever make this stop? IDK. Possibly prison terms if it is ever found out that you indoctrinated a child this way. This would also be tricky and could backfire and be used a wrong way.

DenoPenno comments on Nov 28, 2019:
Trump supporters need to understand that everyone is lying. Trump is doing a good job and he is draining the swamp. He is busy constantly to prove that everyone before him was a crook and they all should be removed or sent to prison in many cases. We should not be surprised if Trump declares a "fake election" or even after 8 years refuses to leave. What is going on is that he is continuing his draining of the swamp and will continue to have great numbers and a good report for us all. Many do not believe the above. I say if we do not wake up it is a real possibility.

Would you rather be in love or have someone be in love with you?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 27, 2019:
Sometimes people drift in different directions. If it happens to you and you see no way out just let it go. Otherwise someone is going to become a statistic. You cannot force love or togetherness.
My wonderful and sweet dad drove me to work because my car battery died.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 27, 2019:
I understand you on this. Your parents likely never will so just find ways around this type of indoctrinal talk without making everyone upset. A woman I know once asked me "how I thought it would all play out." She is talking "end times" and about writings in the book of Revelation. What she may not know is that the book barely made it into the bible and it was also not the only book of its type that was considered. So much for bible accuracy.
What if the Devil invented Jesus?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
Gods are not logical. I have found most of the major flaws of the book and Jesus and the Devil come out of the same book. It means I cannot use this argument. It is Peter Pan or Captain Hook.

Why oh Why, in the name of all things Sci-Fi & Geeky, are there not more episodes of Firefly!!! Damn...
DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
Firefly looked good to me. I'm about ready to stop watching a lot of shows because of the "Reality TV type" drama they are using. I do not need this or stress of any kind. Good Sci-Fi and thrillers do not need this.
So.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
If it was real something about it would have been done differently. Maybe a PCH van at your door for publicity. I keep getting phone calls that my social security number has been revoked due to suspicious activity. They wold love to confirm my info and give me a new number. Then there are those callers who want to reward me for using my credit cards. I'm sure that before that one is over they will be using your credit cards.
Most common/ridicuous argumento pro religion?

DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
I've done a little research on this issue myself since I originally posted. It seems that originally there was 2 sites posting this information. They have went away to be replaced by 2 media posts repeating almost the same thing. Keep in mind that we are targeting the most fearful with fear-based messages and lies. The Trump Administration will continue to do this in many other issues but Trump does not like Muslims and Omar is a Muslim. With names not repeated in this post, Omar married 2 separate men at different times and married them religiously and sometimes legally with a back and forth between them situation and has children by them. At one time they all lived in the same house. This is common to many Somalians and Africans in general. They all lived in Somalia at the time. There is no proof that one of the men was actually her brother but it is a claim Trump has made. Omar refuses to discuss the issue probably because it would only make it all sound worse. There is no investigation into this matter that can produce anything differently. The bottom line here remains that marriage does not grant citizenship. Marriage and citizenship are separate issues.
One thing that puzzles me about believers in any religion is the conviction that it’s their God ...
DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
"Let go and let god." Does it mean to give in and give up? IDK. Of course your god belief is right. God has so many names and in the end it will be shown that other god beliefs were actually a misguided belief based on your belief. There, your faith is strengthened.
My little girl made it three years without religious ideas being taught to her.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 26, 2019:
I see your concern but the only thing I see that you can do to counter this is continue to have conversations with her about what is real and what is make believe. I say it this way because a more aggressive approach might drive her right into the open arms of religion. Back to your talks with her, make those conversations clever without direct denial and do it in a way where she can figure it out.
What I have gathered to date (11-24-19) regarding Trump's Ukraine escapades: 1.
DenoPenno comments on Nov 25, 2019:
This is exactly how I understand it but Trump supporters can only talk of "what Joe Biden did" when you present it to them. Last Saturday a young man of about 23 told me he understands it all fully but he feels we are over-reacting on it because of outdated laws and principals. This is insane! Back to the old line of "you just cannot fix stupid." One problem again is that Trump supporters simply do not care. Too much anger here.

DenoPenno comments on Nov 25, 2019:
I hope you have fun. My holiday was going to be dinner with both my daughters at one of their places, but the one daughter has to work and I'm not hearing positive dinner plans. This means I will stay home and binge on Netflix while consuming 2 pizzas. The movie of choice is over 3 hours long and is called "The Irishman." Joe Peshi and DeNiro are in that one and it premiers the 28th. I actually have a 4 day weekend as my boss told me just today he is cutting my hours again and I am also off Friday.

There must be a designer if we are talking about clothes, houses, or cars. The truth is that we humans are the designer.
A question you see pop up on here is, when did you become an atheist, which to me sounds like when ...
DenoPenno comments on Nov 25, 2019:
I knew fully by 2012 because it was the only thing that fit. The more I learned the more religion became a myth. Imagine that you believe in a magic man in the sky and his "book" that explained everything became a reality over 300 years after his death. This is why contemporary writers of his time never mention him at all. It is all made up.

Ever consider that your best friend could be bragging to you? What he said could be true but he also could be bragging. I'm in love with a woman I have not actually met in person and friends who hear me talk about her say they know I am soon going to meet her. Why? I'm too poor to live in her world and she admits she cannot live in my state. Obviously that would never work out. I need someone I can kiss and hold and do so without the great strain I see in others daily.
What do you agnostics think about "co-parenting", two people interested in parenthood but not ...
DenoPenno comments on Nov 25, 2019:
What do you agnostics think? I'm not a judge. People have kids and then no longer live together the children still need to spend time with both parents. When this is not allowed their minds are poisoned. The many aspects of people's lives has to be taken into view as well as the best interests of the children.
What made you change from believer to non-believer?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 24, 2019:
I studied the bible and wanted to be a minster at an early age. My study produced evidence that the bible we have today came about some 300 years after the death of Jesus. That answers a lot of questions. What do you know today about someone who lived 300 years ago? Probably not very much.

DenoPenno comments on Nov 22, 2019:
If I had kids in that school I would do a phone call, then make a personal trip to the school to tell them to drop it all, and if that did not work let the FFRF do a lawsuit. Be loud and very vocal about this lawsuit so they can understand. Kids have enough going on without being told they are sinners and will burn in hell. This is illegal in public schools but still they try and find ways to get around it.

Great question from another site, Jesus was a carpenter what did he build ?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 22, 2019:
A strange paradox here. We have a man who is said to be a carpenter. Apparently this is the business of the father, Joseph, and it is passed on to the son. My first thoughts are how much wood was in Israel and how many things there were built out of wood 2000 years ago. Did people have wooden houses there at the time? Perhaps this word "carpenter" really means something else. Let us suppose that the translated word means "builder" or "laborer." This seems to fit as little better. The next thing is that he was a fisherman and his followers were mostly fishermen, and we have those gospel-verse times where they are all on fishing boats in the sea complete with scary storms and men afraid enough to where Jesus calmed the waters. (That sea of Galilee was a bitch that way.) Was this is the book just so Jesus could make his followers "fishers of men" and later walk on water? Who knows. As usual, we have contradictory stories. Beware! Storms on the sea of Galilee are coming in tonight so strongly that nighttime fishermen will be scared and also people on land in close proximity. The good news is that it is not a hurricane.

DenoPenno comments on Nov 21, 2019:
You are correct. It is a cop-out. If we cannot understand the mind of this wonderous god how would we ever know anything about his offer of salvation? Salvation from what, and why? The cop-out is designed so you will still believe when god allowed your mother to die. It was in his plan. It's also there to explain why god doesn't heal all the cancer stricken children at St. Jude. Only god knows these things and we poor humans have no idea of the mind of god. Does that make any sense? It certainly does not to me.There is no logic in god and no answers in Genesis.

Great. Now all that needs to be done is get Alex Jones and a few others who started and pushed this fallacy all for monetary gain, and possibly we can shut the mouths of few political liars. It is doubtful however because I saw Jones on a program where he claimed he has learned his lesson, then Jones and the other man both went off the deep end talking about germ-like creatures that enter your mind and take you over. I think they were supposed to be from outer space. As for the so-called "crisis actors" the biggest one is in the White House now. I'm sure he and Jones are friends, at least privately.
Sondland has thrown ALL of them right under the bus.

The problem with all of this is the constant double speak. Let me give and example from my work as those that I work with know I am anti-Trump. They will start talking gun nonsense or something because they seem to want you to believe we have a right to own any type of gun. When they do that I talk a different type of gun nonsense, but it is nonsense just like they are talking. They see this and smile. They know and they smile. This is the same thing that is going on with impeachment hearings. There is too much nonsense and people smile and say all of the illegal is actually legal and there was a perfectly good reason for doing it, if it was done, but I didn't see it done, hear it done, but I found out second hand, etc., etc. and they are only bringing these charges because they hate Trump and none of us should be here in the first place. The bottom line is that if none of this sways Moscow Mitch and the Trump GOP it will never go anywhere in the Senate. We are dealing with people who could actually watch someone get shot on Fifth Avenue and then claim that they didn't see anything.
I'll throw this out here like I did unsuccessfully on CL.

Does anybody else wonder why "believer" is an option on an agnostic dating site?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 20, 2019:
Not really. What I wonder about the most is that so many appear to think that you might change your mind tomorrow. Maybe it's the same thing.

I have a view on this and simply cannot get others to see it. Imagine for a moment that you pray and want god to use this food for the nourishment of your body. Every prayer over food goes something along that line as you "thank god for the food." Now imagine you live in a world without refrigeration. Praying over food takes on a whole new meaning. Let this be nourishing and also do me no harm.
What about the good parts?

Isn't it interesting that there are so many Christian songs about being in the Lord's army?

Feel alone?
DenoPenno comments on Nov 18, 2019:
Certainly I feel alone. My religious friend since age 12 acts like he thinks this is a phase I am going through. He often says in discussion "you know what it is." It seems to fly right over his head that knowing is why I no longer believe today. Others claim that at my age I should take up religion because "I don't have much time left." Ignorant people all think we are at a meeting some place "taking logic and reasoning" classes and even the most sincere of them all do not understand why "we just cannot accept the bible." Not a one of them understands that once you have seen behind the curtain you can no longer believe in the Wizard of Oz. Yes, I feel alone. For starters this wonderful book, the bible, came along some 300 years after the time of Jesus. No wonder it has so many mistakes.
Today I was traveling with a friend to a few wineries.

The big problem with these statistics is that the believer still sees them as people who can be converted. Nobody sees that a great many of us were also once religious as well. Nobody understands that you can no longer believe in the Wizard of Oz once you have seen behind the curtain.

The Backfire Effect [theoatmeal.com] (Why we are resistant to new ideas)
DenoPenno comments on Nov 16, 2019:
I resist a lot of new ideas because to embrace them means it is no longer my world. An in home medical evaluation recently had the examiner telling me I am a very angry person, and she thought it was because of my ex-wife. I said, no, I am angry with those who tell me I have to be angry with my ex-wife. They do this because they are secretly racists. Let me put this another way on my perceived anger. MeTV has a lot of older programs that interest many people. I like MeTV and I liked "Happy Days." At my age today I am aware that my happy days have come and gone. They are most likely not coming back again. I don't think a councilor or therapist can make me see this any differently. This is the "anger" that you think you see.

I do not believe in afterlife nor do I have faith of any kind. I think it is all bullshit. An in home consultation recently advised me to make final legal arrangements and I said that was all worked out with a funeral home about my cremation. I was asked if it was agreed to by my family and the woman wanted to know what I would do if my family decided differently. My reply was that I would not do anything because I would be dead.
