We are all different. I hear my words in my brain as words said but I do not hear them in a voice or my own voice. They are just thoughts that are there in sentence form. This is how I think. I have another mode that I call survival mode. No thoughts just actions and more animalistic. I prefer the thinking mode.

DenoPenno comments on Feb 7, 2020:
I have seen this too and I agree with you fully. Trump lies. Most people are scared shitless of Donald for one reason or another but he can say anything he wants to. Then his supporters try to tell you what he really meant or said. This is worse than fabrication or falsehood.
A convoluted argument hard to grasp for agnostics, but if it were to succeed...? []
DenoPenno comments on Feb 7, 2020:
"Creation care." WTF is creation care? What is hard to grasp here with environment and issues of our environment involves the Christians. The reason is that our environment does not matter because god is taking care of that and why should we worry because we are not going to remain on the Earth for that much longer. That's right. This last bunch of believers are **so special** that god is going to remove them so they do not have to go through what all before them have endured. They believe their bible says that. Then you have people like Bill O'Reilly who says of god "he's still up there, he's still in control." This goes over Fox Noise and is absorbed by so many not to smart people. It means that Koch Industries and those of like mind are setting you up to rape your environment without a single care about you or your healthcare. They are also setting up political action groups to change everything in their favor so as to do this. It is trickery backed up by religion and every bit of it is used against us. This is what is behind Trump and his new Executive Order on our environment. In fact, this is also the major group that is behind Trump. Believers do not care about tomorrow if the world is ready to end. In fact, they will do anything to make it hurry up and happen. Look at the rants of Michelle Bachmann and others on this. Look at the many idiotic rants of popular Evangelical preachers today in Trumpland. Koch, Mercer, DeVos, et al. They all want to trick the farmer into leaving the hen house door open. This is what it is all about.

DenoPenno comments on Feb 2, 2020:
The comments that you are showing here seem about as lame as all the nonsense of Trump supporters. If you could investigate the background of these people you might find they are not active Christians but they do have the religion somewhere in their background. It reminds me of the real case where a believer ended up killing his atheist friend over a god argument. Some will take it differently but this would be about the angst of someone denying you the belief in an invisible man in the sky. It's anger. It is not about proving your point by sending your friend to god. Your thoughts may be correct here but let me explain "us vs. them" in another way. It is a basic belief of the bible according to the preacher. (Good vs. bad, etc.) This is also the theme of many successful movies and TV shows. You might even go to work daily looking at your job this way - "us" against the world. We come to see that our survival depends on this type of thinking. As to a future where we live in harmony with those who are believers I'm not thinking it is more likely to be any more peaceful than it is right now. In fact, it could get worse and become just like your Reddit post. A lot of this depends on who the national leaders are and what drum they are beating.
What are everyone’s thoughts on the ACA?
DenoPenno comments on Feb 2, 2020:
Recently the ACA had a big shakeup and several people are not there any longer. Jen and Traci among them and I liked both of them. I watch the Atheist Experience every Sunday. Some of this shakeup had to do with the LGBTQ people and where this show was going. I can accept that many of them do not believe also, so I do not understand this and I like and support Stephen Woodford. He did nothing wrong and it appears they threw him under a bus. It stirred up a big storm. Imagine the outcome here for a moment - the ACA supports LGBTQ people and community but now none of this is discussed in any light whatsoever. As for Matt, my logic is very similar to his and I'm with him on most things, but he is currently the president and I'm sure he wants to stay there and also protect himself as well. Matt has his divorce and a lawsuit with Silverman going, and info on that can be looked up and should not be discussed on the show. I agree with Matt about 98% of the time on most issues. I was also into the ACA Facebook page and then they threw me under the bus also. I'm on a desktop computer and nothing handheld where you can get instant messages. I made a remark that someone's logic on a certain subject was "sort of lame" and that did it. Suddenly I am making fun of people who cannot walk or have difficulty walking, etc. This is not what was said or what I meant. "Lame thinking" has nothing to do with crippled people or a 1611 translation KJV bible. I do not know any "lame" people. Horses go lame but in modern times not people. Anyone could see that I am not making fun of crippled people but the board of the ACA had spoken and I was banned from that Facebook page for not correcting my statement in time. My best thought here is that it makes you wonder who is on the ACA Board of Directors and what have they been smoking?

I'm not sure when Jesus died and I'm also not sure he was "the Christ." It is certain that he did not spend 3 days dead if we assume he did live and died by crucifixion. Somebody cannot count time and "days" very well. At best, I agree with those who say he had a bad weekend. Consider now that god hates sin and all the sins of the world were put upon Jesus. Some claim this is why he died so quickly and they forget that god allows him to "sit at his right hand." This is like a having a kid who fell in crap and you keep him beside you without cleaning him up. WTF? As for America as a Christian Nation, believers of this nonsense forget that many types of people came to America and not everyone came here wanting freedom of religious practice. Dive into it all and it's a lame claim. If the myth is made "true" by government process your government has more control of you.

DenoPenno comments on Jan 29, 2020:
I agree with you. Your last sentence nailed it all. The basic idea is that Christians think they are oppressed because their book says they will be oppressed, and we all know that book is correct. LOL They tell you that school shootings happen because we no longer let god in our schools and it is absurd. I'm 73 years old and I do not remember god in our schools. At one time teachers said those that want to can have one minute of silent prayer as the classes started. O'Hair's lawsuits stopped that. This leads me to conclude that the disgruntled student who shoots and kills others in public schools today is very pissed off about that missing minute of prayer. On closer look the whole idea of this is ridiculous. As far as your bible beliefs being taught in public schools, it never happened. Never ever! Regardless of what they try it is not likely to happen, or at least not the way they want it to happen. This is what religious institutions are for. Don't worry a lot about Facebook. I'm there too and I see Jesus arm wrestling a red Devil sometimes. What is that about? We need a lot of likes here. My Trumper relative tells me that the current impeachment is all about Joe Biden and what his son did. Taking those billions of dollars illegally and he was not qualified for that job. I point out that Biden was not a president asking for someone to investigate his rival. As for siblings and job qualifications, how about Ivanka and Jerad Kushner. Two overpaid NY Democrats who haven't got a clue what they are doing. On top of that nobody cares and it all shows so badly. Facebook plays games and they want you to play also. They want all your information. They already have way too much information. If all of this goes bad on you just change your FB identity and be your alter ego. Play that game right back at them.
The founders feared a man like this becoming President.

I'm still surprised by the comment of the idiot in You Tube who wanted me to "give him proof" of why I no longer believe. I do not have to have proof for changing my mind due to lack of evidence. However, if you pray while standing on one leg and have your tongue in your cheek, then hop around a bit and try not to fart, maybe god will bless you. If he did not you still have some sin in your life, or it is because of something that you father did.

Any particular reason why people say "you scared the hell out of me?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 27, 2020:
To scare the hell out of you is an odd expression but keep in mind this is literally what early preachers did to get converts. They would scare you with hell. Things like this were so strong in the early days of Christianity that people were all asking what was and was not a "sin." Over time the expression was simply used to mean "you scared me a lot, or surprised me." One I always liked was RIP (rest in peace.) Everyone thinks it is so wonderful and comforting that you want the dead to rest in peace. This saying comes out of times that people believed the dead did not rest in peace because they might come back and bother you. There were various ways of making sure the dead rested in peace and it gave the living peace of mind. Today we have a bit less superstition in our world. Just yesterday on social media a believer is not excepting my statement of no longer believing in gods. He demands that I give him proof, as most believers will do. I did not claim there are no gods. I stated that I no longer believe in gods. The burden of proof is upon him because of his demand. I make no claim for gods of any kind.
Why Religion Is Not Going Away and Science Will Not Destroy It
DenoPenno comments on Jan 26, 2020:
My take on this is a bit different. It is true that time only marches forward. We go the other direction only in our minds and our lives are made up of random events that have happened in our forward journey. We remember our past in random fashion along the way and we all seek security and explanation. These events vary from person to person but politically we can be manipulated by them. We tend to feel safe if we have all the answers. This is why it is so easy to persuade people. This is why politics and religion are both so damned stupid. There is no "free will." It is an illusion caused simply by being alive and being a part of society. There is no scientific cure for this and never can be. I would go so far as to say this is why some claim that "history repeats itself." Within my own being I have used the above thinking to see exactly "why" I do things. I can associate my actions with past and current action in pinpoint reality. I can see why I said something today that came out of past belief and know that the future is likely an extension of my past in some way. Limited free will is present in either doing something or not doing something but an examination of what you did might often produce the answer of why you did it. In being an agnostic atheist you have only broken somewhat free of this cycle and it cannot be "cured" except in death.
Discrimination and human rights.
DenoPenno comments on Jan 26, 2020:
Nobody has that right, and to claim they do is a form of control. Men in particular do not have a right over use of the mind and body of women. Biblical men thought so because a woman was property. **After all, it was the** **woman who made the man sin.** (Yes, I did bad things and it is your fault.) This is why women who wear provocative clothing have caused their rape. It is also why ignorant men around me claim I should hate my ex because she decided to leave and live somewhere else. For the record, I avoid those with this sort of thinking.
Why don't people control vicious dogs? Yesterday's Rottweiler attack.
DenoPenno comments on Jan 26, 2020:
I agree. My thoughts on this are simple. I am a dog lover but not a current dog owner. If the dog is menacing and unruly it is because the animal has an ignorant owner. Dogs adapt to the personality and wishes of the owner. Most dogs react to and carry out the voice commands of the owner. Dogs that are in control tend to like what the owner likes.

They would know in advance that the DNC is against anything progressive, so this posits the idea of Biden being Trump's main 2020 opposition. If Trump is re-elected it helps Putin and the Koch Industries outfit.
How educated are people when it comes to deciding their theistic beliefs?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 25, 2020:
Most people don't have a clue about theistic and religious differences and simply make up their minds from words of others, doing this without any study at all. Some atheists just dismiss the whole idea without looking into it. People decide what they believe in mostly on what their parents believed in, and they only change their beliefs as they get older and look at things more closely. It is not a matter of which religion is the right one out of a whole world of religions. It is a matter of why any religion would be the right religion. There is also the question of why would you need a religion? If Jesus died for your sins why do you have to repent? If god cannot stand sin of any kind why is Jesus sitting at his right hand in heaven? I ask this because all the sins of the world were put on Jesus. Where did those sins go?

Have you heard the good news?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 25, 2020:
That looks like a good book. I'm going to see if I can get it in epub. I usually do this and let my computer read to me. (I'm lazy.) A big problem I'm having right now is all those in DNC that claim we **do not** need to go progressive. Just keep it normal in GOP and DNC politics. It sounds to me like they already know who is going to run against who, and this goes right into Trump being impeached because he wanted dirt on Biden. If we do not shake things up it means the powers that be are causing Trump to be re-elected. Also, Hillary wanted to do it all her way, was so cool and calculating, etc. and apparently not a Bernie fan. Well, Hillary lost!

The cost of honesty
DenoPenno comments on Jan 23, 2020:
There have always been honesty issues but I found that honesty went out the door totally when Trump got the White House. My Trumper relative says I'm wrong and that all started with Obama. How so? She has nothing to show except racism and white supremacy remarks. I find this funny coz she is Mexican. Since Trump was elected the phone scams that bother me have tripled. I'm not kidding. I also see adds for TV antennas that will pick up for 999 miles, etc. It is lies. Every bit of it is lies. I suppose that if Trump can do it, then anybody can do it. Religious honesty is yet another thing also. It turns my stomach.

Thoughts on extraterrestrial life?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 23, 2020:
Are there other intelligent life forms? It would be ridiculous to assume not. As for what people are seeing, I am not sure. My mind goes more along the lines of craft that is being tested in some way and people end up seeing some of this. Of course, authorities will deny any testing but from time to time this denial comes out as a coverup. I myself have seen strange moving lights. As for types of craft being seen by the general public, this evolves in image right along with our perception and imagination of possible crafts. This could be something right along with my idea above, or it is some inner working mechanism within our minds. Chances are that extraterrestrials have not dropped in. Often too many known aircraft seen right along with the unknown, or in close proximity.

DenoPenno comments on Jan 22, 2020:
A funny situation for me was many years ago as a child where I'm praying with the preacher's son and kids get stupid ideas. I came up with believing that if I left that room the devil would kill me. It was sort of like "step on a crack and break your mother's back" sort of thing. The preacher showed up and his son told him of my fears. The preacher then said he would pray with the adults and his son should stay and continue to pray with me. The point I want to make here is that a concerned preacher would be telling his congregation how dumb ideas like this are and how it is ridiculous. Maybe they do not do it coz they don't want to lose people from the church.

Most religious people think that if you are an agnostic and they are a believer it means you can believe too once they explain their god and religion to you. Of course, only their religion is true. All the others are some sort of nonsense. To them. being agnostic simply means you have not heard enough god arguments to make up your mind.

DenoPenno comments on Jan 21, 2020:
This isn't just Hillary. Nobody in the DNC wants to back anyone who is progressive. This is how Bernie lost out the first time. Hillary thought she had it all sewn up and Donna Brazile wrote a book about it. Zuckerberg even offered help and Hillary said no, I got this. Bernie started looking pretty good after Hillary lost but people don't care. The DNC doesn't care. So, it's no wonder to me that Trump asked the Ukrainian president for help with info on the Bidens that he could use in his re-election. Trump knows that the DNC does not want to back progressives and that makes Joe Biden the main contender against the Trump presidency.

We have the "what is spiritual?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 21, 2020:
I've said it before and I will say it again. Spirituality and "being spiritual" can mean almost anything that you want it to mean. That's it, cut and dried, end of story. Why is this so? Mostly because the terms are used by both believers and non-believers in so many various ways.

Baby Jesus gets a bath?
DenoPenno comments on Jan 20, 2020:
This is cute. Of course we all know that walking on water is just something that gods do. Maybe they do it when they are bored. In my church days they had a sermon that was preached claiming Peter could not do it because he "did not keep his eyes on Jesus." People would snivel and cry when they heard that. I cannot remember Jesus ever wanting to teach others the trick and saying you had to watch him closely.
Truly cursed.

“I’m not perfect, I’m just forgiven” is the most enabling statement ever made! Christians...
DenoPenno comments on Jan 20, 2020:
I know that parenting is a hit and miss idea and that our parents were not perfect in the way they raised and disciplined us. Some parents tell you that as you get older. It does not stop us from seeing all the harsh and bad things we think they have done in bringing us up. Did anyone ever think that "I am not perfect, I am just forgiven" might be a big thing in religion because we needed this from our parents long ago? We never felt perfect. We never felt forgiven even if we were. In religion you get a second chance at this with your heavenly father. Do what he says and he is the perfect father and not like your earthly one. God so easily replaces the parents.

DenoPenno comments on Jan 20, 2020:
That would solve everything. :) Notice his remark that he has done more than any other administration. He tried that earlier at the UN and they laughed at him. Later he claimed it was a joke and the media mostly played his clip and cut out the laughter. People need to get this. He is totally serious and he is the joke. Get this asshole out of there by any means possible.

DenoPenno comments on Jan 20, 2020:
He scares the hell out of me but almost daily I hear others say Trump tells it like it is and he will shake things up. Don't these people give a damn about their own welfare? In religion we find that god seems to hate the same things that you do. In Trump politics and with his followers they want Trump to do something bad to those that they hate. Why do we hate? What is wrong with people?
