Your descriptions sound very familiar. It is good to hear someone else with spinal fusion and shoulder damage describe those spasms. My pain periodically floors me and sends me to the ER, and EMTs always remark - in friendly jest - they don't know what box to check for my spasms.

It's kind of silly, but ... when I do pilates in the pool, one of my stretches beforehand is specifically to open my shoulders up for that position. It's always felt like a fun, dirty little secret - especially since I do the stretches and pilates in the senior heated lap pool. ?
