Ex-KGB Agent Says Trump Was a Russian Asset. Does it Matter?
Druvius comments on Apr 12, 2021:
Huh? Relations with Russia hit new lows under Trump in every respect, including more sanctions, and Trump sold tons of weapons to Ukraine. If he was a Russian asset, Putin got exactly NOTHING from him. Worst buy he ever made.
Druvius replies on Apr 12, 2021:
@barjoe LOL, motivated reasoning and cherry picking illustrated. You're giving Trump WAY too much credit, and ignoring my point. Relations with Russia deteriorated under Trump, there was no gain for Putin.

BIDEN BACKS UKRAINE'S CONFRONTATION WITH RUSSIA, THIS COULD GET UGLY: [united-cats.com]
wordywalt comments on Apr 9, 2021:
Are you implying that we should stand aside and let Russia continue its aggression and territorial expansion????? If we had acted in that way at the end of WW II, all of Europe would have come under Russian control.
Druvius replies on Apr 10, 2021:
No, my point was that the last two times we pushed Putin's line, IE he protects Russia, Russians, and its allies ... both Bush and Obama were outwitted. And thus encouraging Ukrainian aggression probably isn't the wisest move on Biden's part. Putin won't do anything if the millions of Russians in Ukraine aren't attacked, but Trump sold Ukraine all sorts of weapons, and now Biden is egging Ukraine on. Putin has zero interest in occupying Ukraine, western propaganda to the contrary, but if pushed he might well set up a "safe zone" in eastern Ukraine for Russians living in Ukraine.

Is it really a good idea to pursue more reactors when we still can't figure out what to do with all the spent fuel?
Druvius replies on Apr 3, 2021:
The airborne waste from burning coal and oil kills millions of people a year, the amount of nuclear waste is beyond minuscule compared to that. And ways to process it are already well along, all radioactive isotopes are very valuable. And as Fearless fly said, modern nuclear reactors are cleaner and safer than ever, and thorium reactors will take it even further. It's vastly safer and greener than the oil and coal power it would be replacing.

Israel has made zero concessions, they have never offered the Palestinians anything more than a token state utterly subject to Israel. And it's Israel that's constantly waging war on its neighbors and its own occupied territories. Israel doesn't want peace. Granted seems like a terrible long term strategy, but it's the one Israel has chosen from the beginning when they ethnically cleansed what is now Israel proper.

What laws did he break? Amazing that liberals are worried about Trump, but Biden has over 50 executive orders now. He did once say that only a dictator rules by executive order. He now holds the damn record. Funny shit.
Druvius replies on Feb 13, 2021:
"What laws did he break?" Well, I'm pretty sure that inciting a mob to storm a building with murderous intent breaks numerous laws. However, this isn't a criminal trial, it's an impeachment trial and there is no requirement to cite any broken laws. So your point is irrelevant. Trump was the record holder for executive orders, no comparison. Biden undoing Trump's executive orders isn't being dictatorial, it's undoing Trump's dictatorial tendencies. If Trump had wanted to make permanent changes he would have worked at getting laws passed, not writing executive orders that can be undone with a signature by the next administration. That would have required actual work though,. did Trump get ANY laws passed? A MAGA mob stormed the Capitol, five dead, and you think it's FUNNY? I don't see anything amusing in the situation at all.

No, I know some Trumpers who are quite smart. Trump has a whole raft of media outlets supporting his con, the problem is a lot more complicated than "his followers are stupid." Still, recent events have pushed me over the edge: You can support Trump, or you can support America. You can't do both.
Druvius replies on Jan 9, 2021:
@SeaGreenEyez No, he has multiple degrees, his IQ is well above average. By objective standards he is smarter than the average bear. He was a senior engineer for a state agency. I think it's more related to maturity than smarts, parts of him somehow never grew up. Or regressed. He uses his brain for confirmation bias and motivated reasoning, and quite cleverly. IDK, me and his now ex wife watched in horror for decades as he started listening to Alex Jones et al and slid into this alternate reality. I agree that the lower the IQ, the easier to fool. I think it's more more complicated than "these people are stupid" though. The human brain is wired for pattern recognition, not logic, and it can easily be led astray no matter how "smart" it is. Define smart too, that's part of the problem; smarts and good judgement/wisdom are not necessarily correlated.
