What do you embrace most about being an Atheist?
Paul628 comments on Dec 2, 2017:
I've never experienced the new freedom others have by shedding their religion because I've never been religious. I do love not having old, perhaps lingering, habits from my religious days working back into my consciousness.
EmeraldJewel replies on Dec 2, 2017:
I'm so thankful I didn't grow up in a religious home. It gets annoying.
What would you do if God spoke out to you through the sky and it was to where everyone could hear ...
El-loco comments on Nov 30, 2017:
This will not happen. I realise that it's a hypothetical question. Why does it matter if it was where everyone could hear it?
EmeraldJewel replies on Dec 2, 2017:
To know I didn't lose my damn mind. Ha ha ha!

How comfortable are you with the word "Atheist" ?
DragonFZ comments on Nov 30, 2017:
I believe it is just a way of grouping and dividing people. I'm not comfortable with the word "Atheist" and what it implies. I have to catch myself correcting or justifying my position. Now, I just attack Christianity... LOL
EmeraldJewel replies on Dec 2, 2017:
Christianity deserves to be attacked. The God of that belief system is downright hideous!

Exactly! I think I'm going to slow down going around them since they wanna always show thanks to their invisable friends. Ugh!

Dougnostic comments on Dec 2, 2017:
I think it's silly, too, but like you, I don't subscribe to religious dogma. If I'm at somebody's house and they start praying over their food, I'll just look at my plate and remain silent for the duration of the incantations, just out of courtesy.

Sadly it was around family. Since it's closer to holidays, I figured I'd go around to visit family and friends.

Why did their supposed god make the damn bible so confusing and hard to understand then? If it can be interpreted a hundred different ways, what good is it anyway?
EmeraldJewel replies on Nov 24, 2017:
Either that God didn't want to be understood or the people who wrote it wanted to make it to where it'd be impossible to enter heaven, due to how complex the bible is. Either eat, the bible is trash cause God set humanity up to fail from day one.
If Jesus came back today, what would you do?
ScubaWags comments on Nov 24, 2017:
I would admit that he exists. I would then hope to have a conversation with him in order to find out which Jesus he is. Is he the Jesus of the Bible? If so, Is he Matthew's, Mark's, Luke's, John's, or the Apostle Paul's Jesus. He is described very differently in the different books. I would then ...
EmeraldJewel replies on Nov 24, 2017:
Lol me either when it comes to worshipping! Not at all the worshipping type, but I've been hearing so many people talking about his return soon and had to ask a silly question. If everyone waited on Jesus to return, they'd been then waited their life away!

I'd say "Dude, do you think you could have tried to be a little more convincing about making a huge sacrifice for humanity by remaining dead a little longer than a weekend?"

How could you prevent your child from becoming brainwashed by religion?

Teach your daughter about evolution. Teach her how we humans and the other forms of life we share this world with came to be as we are. Tell her that even though we look so different, size, shape, colour of skin, hair and eye colour etc. We are all 99.98% genetically 'exactly the same'. Education ...

silvereyes comments on Nov 23, 2017:
2 cents for you: Teach her to question. Ask her open-ended questions. Don't expect a specific right or wrong answer. Let her think through it. Keep asking questions that challenge her to think. Make sure she learns science and is exposed to other forms of education. Then trust that ...

Teach critical skills from day one. Why would you ever marry someone with such a widely different view on life?
EmeraldJewel replies on Nov 23, 2017:
Sadly he didn't turn all into religion until afterwards, and we're not married. I decided not to do that.
Is it me or does it seem some religious people are obsessed with death?

What is your take on this?
MsOliver comments on Nov 22, 2017:
Actually, the story of the Tower of Babel, while used as an excuse for divisiveness by Christians and Jews alike hundreds of years is probably one of the stupidest stories in the Bible. Not only is there no evidence the tower existed, there is no evidence that at that time 'all of humanity spoke one...

What do you think the world would be like without any religion?
matt42 comments on Nov 22, 2017:
It depends on what we worship next. Humans are always looking for a savior; someone or thing to get us out of the shit. So, if we trade the Christian God for the Money God (which we're well on our way to doing) than it could get pretty ugly. But, maybe we can awaken to the realization that we have ...

I agree! I totally hate Christianity! I think teaching children about that belief is alright because that is the only way hey can decide for themselves to what sounds not right., but I think teaching a child to question everything is crucial. I disagree with having it shoved down your throat! ugh!!!
Religion vs Race

Christians cant follow their own bible. Lol, yes, I've gotten that one, too. I worship Satan. I don't even believe in any of that. The whole bible sounds like I'm reading a dark fantasy book.

SteveB comments on Nov 20, 2017:
He kinda reminds me of the gods in the movie Cabin in the Woods (2012), the Josh Wheedon version. Evil gods that demand sacrifice of humans that must play certain roles and be killed in gruesome ways.
