I grew up in a strict Southern Baptist home. I started questioning God when my father died 2 weeks before Christmas in my 8th year of life. I say questioning, I hated god for taking my daddy away. When I was a teen I started dabbling in Paganism. That lasted for years while I went to a Christian church and tried to pretend to be one of them.
When I met my current husband (who is an atheist) I became a non-religious person. It wasn't until I read a book by a Humanist named Sir Terry Pratchett that my true belief, or rather unbelief was cemented. The book is called Small Gods. It is a fantasy/humor book, but it spoke to me of the farce that is religion.
