@Fred_Snerd "That's being a friend" I have a very strict definition of friend -- someone I can say anything to and hear anything from without losing my temper or self-confidence. Perhaps no one totally meets that ideal. I have heard a similar one -- someone who knows everything about me and still likes me anyway. I try to use the word 'friend' ONLY when it actually applies. I'm not sure how to interpret your last question. I'm dubious that folks online get that "intimate" (or expect it). Does that make honesty a continuum (rhetorical) ? Should The USA Be Considered a Democracy?
dermot235 comments on Aug 10, 2020:
The US is not a functioning Democracy and it's getting worse every year. Voter Suppression Gerrymandering The Electoral College, And then Alaska with it's 600,000 people gets 2 Senators and California with 39 Millions People gets 2 Senators also. WTF Please don't export your democracy ...

Storm1752 comments on Aug 10, 2020:
Yes. Well...no not really. It's not 'one man, one vote,' which if it isn't SHOULD be the standard. The Electoral College is an anachronism with should be abolished, but that would take a constitutional amendment, which ain't gonna happen. Plus there other reasons to say with justification our ...

"should be abolished" -- too much power to the large population states, candidates would never visit the smaller ones.

@AnneWimsey Just putting "IS" in an assertion doesn't confer veracity. Your anecdote (although good for you) is not data. Even if a large percentage of "payment system" users don't have problems doesn't mean there aren't significant issues/problems. https://money.howstuffworks.com/paypal.htm#pt7 If convenience is the (your) metric, things are wonderful -- until they are not. Why shouldn't/ISN'T it be possible (and widespread) to pay online securely/trustfully/privately/legally like cash ?

I've thought for a long time that all that space junk should be harvested by shuttle missions, then deposited on the moon for future re-utilization at an eventual lunar outpost. Short of that, a shuttle like the US used to have would be a good platform for collection and return.

@Allamanda "you make it" -- I object to the (false) accusation. I can't MAKE it/whatever. I try to, and hope to have influence. I contend that misunderstanding is typically incredibly easy and real understanding is typically incredibly hard. I think it then it follows that words matter. If we can't/don't use better words (consistently) with ourselves, isn't it hypocrisy to expect it from others ? I don't see CT as 'rigid', I do think it is important.
