The Beatles - This Boy [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Aug 8, 2020:
"This Boy" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney). It was released in November 1963 as the B-side of the band's Parlophone single "I Want to Hold Your Hand". Its composition was an attempt by Lennon at writing a song in the style of Motown star Smokey Robinson, and specifically his song "I've Been Good To You", which has similar circular doo-wop chord changes, melody and arrangement. The tune and arrangement also draws from "You Don't Understand Me", a B-side to a Bobby Freeman single. Paul McCartney cites the Teddy Bears' 1958 hit "To Know Him Is to Love Him" as also being influential.

Best of my Love by The Eagles
FearlessFly comments on Aug 7, 2020:
"Best of My Love" is a song written by Don Henley, Glenn Frey, and J. D. Souther. It was originally recorded by the Eagles (with Henley singing lead vocals), and included on their 1974 album On the Border. n 2009, J.D. Souther said of the writing of "Best of My Love": "Glenn found the tune; the tune I think came from a Fred Neil record... We were working on that album (On the Border) and came to London. The three of us were writing it and were on deadline to get it finished. I don't know where we got the inspiration." Glenn Frey recalled: "I was playing acoustic guitar one afternoon in Laurel Canyon, and I was trying to figure out a tuning that Joni Mitchell had shown me a couple of days earlier. I got lost and ended up with the guitar tuning for what would later turn out to be 'The Best of My Love.'"

Yesterday - The Beatles
FearlessFly comments on Aug 7, 2020:
"Yesterday" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and credited to Lennon–McCartney. It was first released on the album Help! in August 1965, except in the United States, where it was issued as a single in September. McCartney's vocal and acoustic guitar, together with a string quartet, essentially made for the first solo performance of the band. It remains popular today and, with more than 2,200 cover versions, is one of the most covered songs in the history of recorded music.

FearlessFly comments on Aug 7, 2020:
The ballad was co-written with lyricist John Lang, who was inspired by a book called Broken Wings. The song is a mix of synth, digitally delayed guitar, bass and drums. The song's hissing intro was an effect created by the sound of a crash cymbal played in reverse. Although the 1968 Beatles song, "Blackbird" contains an identical lyric, "Take these broken wings and learn to fly", Richard Page has described this as "a mindless unintentional reference" attributable to both compositions being influenced by the Gibran novel.

Prince - Little Red Corvette
FearlessFly comments on Aug 7, 2020:
"Little Red Corvette" is a song by American recording artist Prince. The song combines a drum machine beat and slow synth buildup for the verses and a full rock chorus. Backing vocals were performed by Dez Dickerson and Lisa Coleman and the guitar solo was also played by Dickerson. In the song, Prince narrates a one-night stand with a beautiful but promiscuous woman (the "Little Red Corvette" of the title); although he enjoys the experience, he urges her to "slow down" and "find a love that's gonna last" before she destroys herself. In addition to the title, he uses several other automobile metaphors, for example comparing their lovemaking to a ride in a limousine.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Have You Ever Seen The Rain (Official) - YouTube
FearlessFly comments on Aug 6, 2020:
Some have speculated that the song's lyrics are referencing the Vietnam War, with the "rain" being a metaphor for bombs falling from the sky. In his review for Allmusic website, Mark Deming suggests that the song is about the idealism of the 1960s and about how it faded in the wake of events such as the Altamont Free Concert and the Kent State shootings, and that Fogerty is saying that the same issues of the 1960s still existed in the 1970s but that people were no longer fighting for them. However, Fogerty himself has said in interviews and prior to playing the song in concert that it is about rising tension within CCR and the imminent departure of his brother Tom from the band. In an interview, Fogerty stated that the song was written about the fact that they were on the top of the charts, and had surpassed all of their wildest expectations of fame and fortune. They were rich and famous, but somehow all of the members of the band at the time were depressed and unhappy; thus the line "Have you ever seen the rain, coming down on a sunny day?".

In the 2013 documentary History of the Eagles, Henley said that the song was about "a journey from innocence to experience... that's all..."

FearlessFly comments on Aug 6, 2020:
"Over the Rainbow" is a ballad composed by Harold Arlen with lyrics by Yip Harburg. For their work together on The Wizard of Oz, Harburg claimed his inspiration was "a ballad for a little girl who... was in trouble and... wanted to get away from... Kansas. A dry, arid, colorless place. She had never seen anything colorful in her life except the rainbow". Arlen decided the idea needed "a melody with a long broad line"

It’s that time to say goodnight to you again and tonight it’s Sting with .
FearlessFly comments on Aug 5, 2020:
The "You" in the song's title is not identified by Sting, as he explained he felt it was important not to point out what it is specifically so that the listeners could connect more with the song: The song is in two distinct parts. The first part is about the things I've lost faith in. It's quite easy to be precise about the things I've lost faith in - politics, media, science, technology, the things that everybody has, and yet I along with most other people have a great deal of hope, and a feeling that things will and can get better. So what do we place our faith in I can't define that as easily as I can define what I don't believe in anymore. So I haven't defined it, I've just said if I ever lose my faith in you, and "You" could be my producer, it could be faith in God, it could be faith in myself, or it could be faith in romantic love. It could be all of those things, I don't define it. I think it's important not to define it, because once you can define something it evaporates. I think it's important in this day and age when we are dictated to by music television what a particular song is about, that the old ambiguity that songs had can be retained.

Fantastic cover of "Heart Shaped Box" performed by Hannah Williams & The Affirmations [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Aug 4, 2020:
(from joyofviolentmovement.com) Much like countless other bands across the world, Williams and her Affirmations have been enjoying connecting with their fans and followers in a whole new way during the past few months of COVID-19 imposed quarantines and lockdowns. Putting some of their musical direction in the hands of their loyal following for the first time, the band put a cover song choice to a vote — and the result was the challenge of covering Nirvana’s classic, smash-hit “Heart-Shaped Box.” Naturally, because the acclaimed JOVM mainstays operate in a completely different genre and style than Nirvana, they craft a slow-burning, horn-driven take on the grunge rock classic that retains the brooding and uneasy quality of the original — while putting the song into a contemporary context. Of course, what the Hannah Williams and The Affirmations cover should remind the listener of a fundamental fact: great compositions and great songs can translate across different genres and styles if embraced and adapted with care, so that the intent and purpose of the original isn’t messed with or altered too much.

Slade - Gudby T' Jane [youtube.com]
FearlessFly comments on Aug 4, 2020:
It was written by lead vocalist Noddy Holder and bassist Jim Lea, and produced by Chas Chandler. The idea for "Gudbuy T'Jane" came to Lea while the band were on an American tour. He first had the idea for the song while sitting by a pool in San Francisco, and then completed the song in the toilet on the plane flight home. Holder, who finished the lyrics, originally changed "Gudbuy T'Jane" to "Hello T'Jane", however Lea felt his original idea sounded better. The titular character was based on a real-life woman who demonstrated a sex machine on an American TV show on which the band appeared. In a 1980 interview with Sounds, Lea said of the band's past hits: "I didn't even like some of those old ones. We all hated "Gudbye T'Jane" when we made it. It was knocked up in half an hour at the end of one of our studio sessions." In a 1981 fan club interview, drummer Don Powell cited "Gudbuy T'Jane" as one of his favourite Slade songs.
Just before I go out for the evening....Franz Ferdinand. - No You Girls. [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Aug 4, 2020:
"No You Girls" is a song by Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand. It was released as the second single from their third album, Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, on 6 April 2009. The song is inspired by Alex Kapranos' first time he ever kissed a girl (whose name was Katherine) and "how awkward it was and how we misunderstood each other". "No You Girls" is how the story would be exaggerated or told as an anecdote and "Katherine Kiss Me" is about how it would be remembered more affectionately.

Is the concept of morality man made? How can we distinguish between moral and immoral activities?
FearlessFly comments on Aug 4, 2020:
The idea that murdering small children is not moral is universal suggests that some 'morality' is innate.

"If the theory is right—and that has yet to be determined" From a scientific perspective, this is NOT a theory, but a HYPOTHESIS. :O How can anyone persuade others who think/say evolution is "just a theory" if the scientific use of the word is "bastardised" ?

It was written and co-produced by band members Annie Lennox and David A. Stewart. The song was briefly played as background music for an engagement party scene in season two, episode 12 of The Sopranos, "The Knight in White Satin Armor", and then meaningfully used as background for the closing scene and credits of that same episode. It was also used in the diner scene and over the closing credits of Norwegian film Lønsj.

If a social-media user (you? ) BLOCKS some-other-user, is THAT censorship ? PBuck0145: To block from one's on viewing is acceptable. To block others from viewing is censorship. FearlessFly: @PBuck0145 "block others from viewing" -- Blocking others from viewing YOUR posts AND comments, then, IS censorship. HOW MANY have YOU censored ?
