FearlessFly comments on Jun 26, 2020:
"Can't Stand Losing You" features lyrics which, according to Sting, is "about a teenage suicide, which is always a bit of a joke." Sting also claimed that the lyrics took him only five minutes to write. The original single was banned by the BBC because of the controversial cover (an alternative cover was released in some places). As Sting described: "The reason they [the BBC] had a problem with "Can't Stand Losing You" was because the photo on the cover of the single had Stewart standing on a block of ice with a noose around his neck, waiting for the ice to melt."

It was used in the end credits of Firewatch Etta James wrote in her autobiography Rage To Survive that she heard the song outlined by her friend Ellington "Fugi" Jordan when she visited him in prison.[3] She then wrote the rest of the song with Jordan, but for tax reasons gave her songwriting credit to her partner at the time, Billy Foster, singer with doo-wop group The Medallions.

FearlessFly comments on Jun 23, 2020:
According to the AllMusic review of the song, "the lyric takes the cool, laidback image of the low rider — the Chicano culture practice of hydraulically hot-rodding classic cars — and using innuendo, extends the image to a lifestyle". The song's most distinguishable features are its driving bass line by B. B. Dickerson, which is present almost throughout, and the alto saxophone riff by Charles Miller. It also ends with a siren-like noise that then becomes a saxophone solo. Saxophonist Charles Miller also takes the lead vocal.

FearlessFly comments on Jun 23, 2020:
At a televised performance of VH1 Storytellers, Idol said that he had attended an event where Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones were taking swigs from a bottle of "Rebel Yell" bourbon whiskey. He was not familiar with the brand, but he liked the name and decided to write a "Rebel Yell" song. The song was co-written by guitarist Steve Stevens. The instrumental introduction, which sounds like a combination of electric guitar and electronic keyboard, is performed by Stevens on guitar alone, who intended it to sound this way. Stevens states that he was inspired by acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke's style.

The song has been covered by many artists, including Jamaican singer Tinga Stewart (1977), Mike Anthony (1982), Sade (1984, on its debut album Diamond Life), Joan Osborne, Steve Winwood (2003) and Maria Muldaur (2009).

"Crying in the Rain" is a song written by Howard Greenfield and Carole King and originally recorded by The Everly Brothers. The song was the only collaboration between successful songwriters Greenfield (lyrics) and King (music), both of whom worked for Aldon Music at the time of the song's composition. On a whim, two Aldon songwriting partnerships decided to switch partners for a day – Gerry Goffin (who normally worked with King) partnered with Greenfield's frequent writing partner, Jack Keller, leaving King and Greenfield to pair up for the day. Despite the commercial success of their collaboration, King and Greenfield never wrote another song together.

The song was one of the first pop singles to use flanging, an effect that can be heard on the drums in the bridge section after each chorus.[8] Most sources credit the use of the effect to Olympic Studios engineer George Chkiantz who showed it to the Small Faces regular engineer Glyn Johns; he in turn demonstrated it to the group, who were always on the lookout for innovative production sounds, and they readily agreed to its use on the single.
Rattle That Lock.
FearlessFly comments on Jun 21, 2020:
Rattle That Lock is the fourth solo studio album by Pink Floyd singer and guitarist David Gilmour. It was originally released on 18 September 2015 via Columbia Records. The title track "Rattle That Lock" was inspired by and makes use of the SNCF jingle, composed by Michaël Boumendil. Gilmour heard and recorded the jingle on his iPhone at Aix-en-Provence station while travelling to visit friends. When Boumendil first got a phone message from Gilmour, he thought it might be a prank, so didn't return the call. The lyrics for the track were written by Gilmour's wife and long time collaborator, Polly Samson and are based around the themes of Book II of John Milton's Paradise Lost. The musicians Mica Paris and Louise Marshall, together with the Liberty Choir, perform on the track.

THE COWSILLS - THE RAIN THE PARK AND OTHER THINGS A good hit from 1967 by this American Band.
FearlessFly comments on Jun 17, 2020:
"The Rain, the Park & Other Things" is a psychedelic pop song with music and lyrics co-written by Artie Kornfeld and Steve Duboff. It was recorded by the pop band The Cowsills, and included on their 1967 album The Cowsills (MGM E/SE-4498). In the song, the narrator states that he saw a flower girl sitting in the rain, said hello, and took a lovely walk in the park until, when the rain stops and the sun breaks through, she disappears. However, the narrator still feels happy about the flower girl, and asks in the final verse: "Was she reality, or just a dream to me?" The song was used in the Lloyd fantasy scene in the 1994 film Dumb and Dumber.

Def Leppard - Love Bites, 2017 remastered. [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Jun 16, 2020:
When Robert John "Mutt" Lange originally brought the song to the band's attention, it was a country ballad, which the band thought sounded like nothing they had done before. The band then added power rock elements and emotive backing vocals similar to those used in R&B ballads at the time. The title "Love Bites" was originally used for a very different song that was eventually re-titled "I Wanna Be Your Hero", and which appeared as a Hysteria B-side and later on the album Retro Active.

Arlo Guthrie, "Shenandoah" [youtube.com]
FearlessFly comments on Jun 16, 2020:
"Oh Shenandoah" (also called simply "Shenandoah" or "Across the Wide Missouri") is a traditional American folk song of uncertain origin, dating to the early 19th century. The song appears to have originated with Canadian and US voyageurs or fur traders traveling down the Missouri River in canoes, and has developed several different sets of lyrics. Some lyrics refer to the Oneida chief Shenandoah and a canoe-going trader who wants to marry his daughter. By the mid 1800s versions of the song had become a sea shanty heard or sung by sailors in various parts of the world. In the fall of 1975 during a benefit concert in Massachusetts, Arlo Guthrie performed with his band, Shenandoah, in public for the first time. They continued to tour and record throughout the 1970s until the early 1990s.

Impressive video. I'm the original owner of a 1998 Toyota 4Runner. After it being 'totaled' (for insurance purposes) in November 2008, I did all the repairs myself and am still driving it as my primary vehicle.

With the exception of the use of lethal force, I think the 'DUI' cop was following all procedures needed to make the legal case for impairment. It could be that the body cam just 'came-off' of the officer during the 'struggle'.
Snow Patrol.
FearlessFly comments on Jun 16, 2020:
The lyrics were written by Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody and the music was composed by Lightbody and the other two members of Snow Patrol at the time, Mark McClelland and Jonny Quinn. The song was described by The Times as "a wonky indie number that is refreshingly rough around the edges". Irish Central called it a "dirty glam masterpiece".

FearlessFly comments on Jun 16, 2020:
"Some Girls Do" is a song written by Mark Miller, and recorded by American country music band Sawyer Brown. It was released in March 1992 as the second (third if "The Walk" is counted) single from their album The Dirt Road. The narrator states that some girls don't like boys like him, but "some girls do.". The song begins with a potential object of his affection turning up her nose at his Cadillac as a way of rebuffing his attentions. Another woman witnesses the exchange from her front porch as she's painting her nails. She hints that it takes more than that to attract a woman, and they hook up with one another.
