"The Logical Song" was written primarily by Roger Hodgson, the lyric based on his experience of being sent away to boarding school for ten years. It was a very personal song for Hodgson; he had worked on the song during soundchecks, and completed the lyrics and arrangement six months before proposing it to the band for the album.

Heart. - All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You. [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on May 11, 2020:
It was composed by veteran songwriter and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange and released as the lead single from the band's tenth studio album, Brigade, as well as their first hit single of the 1990s. The song was first recorded as "All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You" by Dobie Gray in 1979, though with different lyrics. The Heart version tells the story of an unbalanced woman who sets out to seduce a hitchhiker in order to become pregnant because although there is a man in her life, he is impotent. The lyrics go into the sordid detail of the planned affair and show how the woman gave little consideration for the man's feelings.

Baked A La Ska - We’ll Meet Again (Vera Lynn cover) [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on May 11, 2020:
"We'll Meet Again" (AKA: We’ll Be Together Again) is a 1939 British song made famous by singer Vera Lynn with music and lyrics composed and written by English songwriters Ross Parker and Hughie Charles. The song gave its name to the 1943 musical film We'll Meet Again in which Dame Vera Lynn played the lead role (see 1943 in music). Lynn's recording is featured in the final scene of Stanley Kubrick's 1964 film Dr. Strangelove - with a bitter irony, as the song accompanies a nuclear holocaust which wipes out humanity. It was also used in the closing scenes of the 1986 BBC television serial The Singing Detective. British director John Schlesinger used the song in his 1979 World War II film Yanks
David Bowie with his classic.....Starman. [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on May 11, 2020:
Bowie recorded the song on 4 February 1972 at Trident Studios in London with his backing band known as the Spiders from Mars – comprising guitarist Mick Ronson, bassist Trevor Bolder and drummer Mick Woodmansey. The song was a late addition to the album, written as a direct response to RCA's Dennis Katz's response for a single; it replaced the Chuck Berry cover "Round and Round" on the album. The lyrics describe Ziggy Stardust bringing a message of hope to Earth's youth through the radio, salvation by an alien 'Starman'. The chorus is inspired by "Over the Rainbow", sung by Judy Garland, while other influences include T. Rex and the Supremes.

FearlessFly comments on May 10, 2020:
Greensky Bluegrass is a five-piece American bluegrass/rock band founded in Kalamazoo, Michigan in mid-2000. The band has evolved over the years, growing from 3 to 5 members, adding electric effects and touring with a full light show. "The whole notion of “traditional bluegrass” strangely remains a sticking point for plenty of the genre's faithful. Partly because of their name, many articles written about the band addresses the fact that what Greensky does is “not quite” bluegrass.
Greensky Bluegrass - Do It Alone [youtu.
FearlessFly comments on May 10, 2020:
(from greenskybluegrass.com) “Do It Alone” feels equally at home on a festival stage as it does blaring through your soundsystem. Backed by a robust groove, the song transforms traditional bluegrass instrumentation into a rich sonic backdrop highlighted by a mandolin awash in a trio of effects as well as rich echoed vocals and emotive lyrics. “I’d been trying to write a windows-down rock ‘n’ roll tune for a while,” explains Hoffman. “I got out an old guitar of mine, re-strung it, and immediately spit the song out. It’s meant to be an anthem. I ask myself, ‘Why do I do it alone?’ It’s because I’ve got a whole room of thousands singing at the top of their lungs with me. Whenever I write something emotional that might be difficult to sing, I’m reminded of the fact the crowd is there. Hopefully, it’s a reminder for other people as well and we all have something to chant together.”

"We're All Alone" is a song written by Boz Scaggs, which became a 1977 top-ten hit for Rita Coolidge in the US and the UK. Scaggs introduced it on his 1976 album Silk Degrees. The song was first a hit for Frankie Valli.

I am a fan (and a big beneficiary) of capitalism, but I will argue that for Health care, it has huge shortcomings (as well as for Education, but that is another 'soapbox' ). I have never understood the 'logical' connection between having (and losing) a job and having health care benefits. Imagine you have an 'accident' in which, for example, your arm is broken (ouch). In the ambulance you say "Take me to hospital X, they are having a special on broken arms this quarter" -- doesn't fit the 'capitalism' picture does it. Although the Valiants' version was released first (in 1957), Little Richard had the hit, reaching #4. Happy 71st birthday, Billy Joel. Just the Way you are. [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on May 9, 2020:
Joel shared that the melody and chord progression for this song came to him while he was dreaming. In an interview on the Howard Stern Radio Show on November 16, 2010, Joel revealed that the inspiration for writing the name of the song and how it sounds in the chorus was directly taken from the last line in the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons song "Rag Doll"; which incidentally was also a larger inspiration for Joel's later song, "Uptown Girl". The song, which Joel had written for his first wife (and also his business manager at the time) Elizabeth Weber, was not liked by either Joel or his band, and Joel had originally decided against making the track a part of The Stranger, but at the request of both Linda Ronstadt and Phoebe Snow (both were recording in other studios in the same building at the time), he agreed to put the song on the final mix.

It was written and composed, as a collaboration among all the members of the band, for their second album A Rush of Blood to the Head. Built around a piano riff, the song features cryptic lyrics concerning themes of contrast and urgency. It features a repeating piano melody and a minimalist, atmospheric soundscape of synthesizer pads, drums, electric guitar, and bass guitar. Martin applied an ostinato, with emphasis that imitates a three against two polyrhythm, as well as a descending scale on the piano chord progression, which switches from major to minor chords.

[youtube.com] New from Bob Dylan!!!! Awesome lyrics!!!!!
FearlessFly comments on May 8, 2020:
Rough and Rowdy Ways will be Dylan’s 37th studio album, coming 57 years after his debut LP. (from brooklynvegan.com) New single “False Prophet” (track two on the album) is a little different than the last two and more of a rough-edged blues rock song, with Dylan marrying his gravelly voice to riffy electric guitars. And it’s a little more traditionally structured lyrically than the other two songs, but this is Bob Dylan, so he’s always sneaking in depth.

It has often been described as a lullaby. It was initially recorded by his sister Kate Taylor for her 1971 album Sister Kate. The song has been covered by many artists, including Carly Simon, Linda Ronstadt, Maureen McGovern, Richie Havens, Sheryl Crow, Sting, Eddie Vedder with Natalie Maines and the King's Singers.
I almost let the day go by without acknowledging Robert Johnson 's birthday.
FearlessFly comments on May 8, 2020:
The song was originally released on 78 rpm format as Vocalion 03416 and ARC 7-03-56. Johnson performed the song in the key of A, and recorded two takes, the first of which contains his only recorded guitar solo. Both takes were used for different pressings of both the Vocalion issue and the ARC issue. The first take (SA-2580-1) can be found on many compilation albums, including the first one, King of the Delta Blues Singers (1961). Take 2 (SA-2580-2) can be heard on the later compilation Robert Johnson, The Complete Recordings (1990).

Lobo signed with Curb Records in 1977, releasing the single "Afterglow", co-produced by Lobo and Gernhard, and in 1978 "You Are All I'll Ever Need". No full-length album materialized from these sessions.
A good song, and a good singer covering it. [youtu.be]

"Seven Bridges Road" is a song written by American musician Steve Young, recorded in 1969 for his Rock Salt & Nails album. It has since been covered by many artists, the best-known version being a five-part harmony arrangement by English musician Iain Matthews recorded by the American rock band Eagles in 1980. 2001 – Dolly Parton on her album Little Sparrow. Parton was a fan of the Eagles' version, especially liking its harmonies; for her version Parton sang harmony with sisters Becky and Sonya Isaacs.

FearlessFly comments on May 8, 2020:
Its contrasting movements were reportedly composed separately by Clapton and Gordon. The piano part has also been controversially credited to Rita Coolidge, Gordon's girlfriend at the time. The song was inspired by a love story that originated in 7th-century Arabia and later formed the basis of The Story of Layla and Majnun by the 12th-century Persian poet Nizami Ganjavi, a copy of which Ian Dallas had given to Clapton. The book moved Clapton profoundly, because it was the tale of a young man who fell hopelessly in love with a beautiful young girl, went crazy and so could not marry her. The song was further inspired by Clapton's then-unrequited love for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his friend and fellow musician George Harrison of the Beatles. Clapton and Boyd would eventually marry.

FearlessFly comments on May 8, 2020:
The rhythm of the introduction is constructed from metallic clicking on a snare rim and cymbal stand, which is tapped out by drummer Jim McPherson. The recording contains a musical tension amounted from the drum and bass hooking up while a slithering guitar lick skips above before being overtaken by crunching guitars. The quirky musical arrangement has a relentless, rolling momentum that features frequent dynamic pauses and stuttering, start-and-stop transitions before evening out into an infectious, melodic hook layered with sweet vocal harmonies.
The Spencer Davis Group - Gimme Some Lovin'. Stereo [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on May 8, 2020:
"Gimme Some Lovin'" is a song written by Steve Winwood, Spencer Davis and Muff Winwood, although solely credited to Steve Winwood on the UK single label, and performed by the Spencer Davis Group. As recalled by bassist Muff Winwood, the song was conceived, arranged, and rehearsed in just half an hour. At the time, the group was under pressure to come up with another hit, following the relatively poor showing of their previous single, "When I Come Home", written by Jamaican-born musician Jackie Edwards
