(from fatherly.com) “I did wrong but I meant to do right,” is the song’s sentiment, and the guys’ confusion at what they’ve done to earn their spouses’ ire is, as they say, Deeply Relatable. I may think it’s a stereotype that men are less emotionally sensitive and communicative than women, but even as a sensitive feminist dude, I’ve spent more than a few long nights tossing and turning and wondering what I did to earn the cold shoulder when it came time for sleepy spooning. Never mind the end of the clip, which reveals the women’s utterly legit reasons for shunning these particular dudes (constant cheating, credit card fraud, they actually broke up five years earlier); their clueless resignation to a night of sleep atop lumpy cushions and three remotes and under a too-small throw is spot on.

Johnny B. Goode" is a 1958 rock-and-roll song written and first recorded by Chuck Berry, it has been recorded by many other artists and has received several honors and accolades. The song is also ranked seventh on Rolling Stone's list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" Berry acknowledged that the song is partly autobiographical and that the original lyrics referred to Johnny as a "colored boy", but he changed it to "country boy" to ensure radio play. As well as suggesting that the guitar player is good, the title hints at autobiographic elements, because Berry was born at 2520 Goode Avenue, in St. Louis. The song was initially inspired by Johnnie Johnson, the regular piano player in Berry's band, but developed into a song mainly about Berry himself. Johnson played on many recordings by Berry. Some sources state that Lafayette Leake played the piano on this song, but others give the credit to Johnson.
Hi all.
FearlessFly comments on May 2, 2020:
The first line of the song, "All God's children need traveling shoes", is the title of a book by writer/poet Maya Angelou. Speaking about the somewhat obscure and enigmatic lyrics, Tikaram has offered different views on their meaning, but said it's mostly about the particular relationship with the world one feels when entering adulthood. "The song is really about not understanding - when you're 18, you've got a very particular emotional relationship with the world, you feel very isolated, and everybody else is so distant and cold. And I think I was singing about not feeling anything or not being moved by things around. I think this is a strong feeling when you're just after adolescence."

JOHNNY RIVERS - THE POOR SIDE OF TOWN .
FearlessFly comments on May 1, 2020:
It was a very important record for Johnny Rivers and represented a change from the musical style (characterized by a Go Go sound) that provided him with his early hits and acclaim. With "Poor Side of Town", Rivers moved into the pop-soul style. The melody is a soulful version of California-based pop, with some strong folk elements as well. Marty Paich provided the song's string arrangement. There are two versions of the song. The single edit version fades out earlier, in order to avoid repetition, due to its length, following the repeated lyric line: "Oh with you by my side". The longer version goes on, finishing up the verse, and following the repeated guitar riff, repeats the sung introduction of the scatting, before the song fades out.

FearlessFly comments on May 1, 2020:
Heavily influenced by 1950s doo-wop, "Drive-In Saturday" describes how the inhabitants of a post-apocalyptic world in the future (Bowie once said the year was 2033)[3] have forgotten how to make love, and need to watch old porn films to see how it's done. The narrative has been cited as an example of Bowie's "futuristic nostalgia", where the story is told from the perspective of an inhabitant of the future looking back in time.

Neat beats draws upon a wide variety of sounds and styles, citing groups such as Blockhead, Aphex Twin, Philip Glass, and Miles Davis as their influences. Although the combination of these and some of their other influences may seem like it’d only result in a sonic hodge podge, neat beats is able to adeptly to take these sometimes disparate sounds and mold them into something beautiful and unique.

"Montana" is a song composed by Frank Zappa for his 1973 LP Over-Nite Sensation. The last track on the album is one of Zappa's most famous and renowned compositions. It features backing vocals by Tina Turner and the Ikettes throughout the entire track, notably on the middle and ending sections. The structure of "Montana" is intro-verses-chorus-solo-middle section-verses-outro. The lyrics, sung by Zappa in a humorous manner, talk about a person who decides to go to Montana to grow "a crop of dental floss," mounting a pony named "Mighty Little." He dreams to become a "dental floss tycoon," by commercializing it. The verses are filled with pseudo-ranch pronunciation and are intended to be very lighthearted.

Ian Stewart plays piano on this track (his only appearance on the album) while Bill Wyman plays autoharp. The lyrics include a number of drug and sexual references, including an invitation for "coke and sympathy," a reference to a "junkie nurse" and Jagger's suggestions that we all need someone to "bleed on," "cream on" and "cum on" them. However, to Allmusic critic Richie Unterberger, the song is mainly about "emotional dependency," with Jagger willing to accept a partner who wants to lean "on him for emotional support."

The band then re-recorded the song at a slower tempo to much greater success on their 1972 Sailin' Shoes album. The song tells a story of a truck driver traveling from Tucson to Tucumcari; Tehachapi to Tonopah and became a trucker anthem. (It's not known whether the lyrics, " . . . from Tucson to Tucumcari . . . " were inspired by the same line as spoken by the character "Turk", about halfway through the 1961 Sam Peckinpah film, "The Deadly Companions".) When Frank Zappa heard George sing a demo of "Willin'" as a Mothers of Invention song, he suggested that the guitarist form a band.

(from the Insider article) Followers of the Satanic Temple does not worship Satan. According to its website, at its core, the Satanic Temple seeks "to encourage benevolence and empathy among all people, reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice, and be directed by the human conscience to undertake noble pursuits guided by the individual will."

Metallica - Whiskey In The Jar ://youtu.be/boanuwUMNNQ
FearlessFly comments on Apr 26, 2020:
"Whiskey in the Jar" is an Irish traditional song set in the southern mountains of Ireland, often with specific mention of counties Cork and Kerry. The song, about a rapparee (highwayman) who is betrayed by his wife or lover, is one of the most widely performed traditional Irish songs and has been recorded by numerous artists since the 1950s. The American metal band Metallica in 1998 played a version very similar to that of Thin Lizzy's, though with a heavier sound, winning a Grammy for the song in 2000 for Best Hard Rock Performance.

James Blunt - Halfway [youtu.
FearlessFly comments on Apr 26, 2020:
(from xsnoize.com) Speaking on the single James said, “I originally wrote ‘Halfway’ as a solo performance, and the original version that appears on my album is just me on vocals. But after we recorded the track, it was obvious that this song was really meant to be a duet all along. Because the track has a real Americana vibe, I knew immediately that I needed the best Country singers I could find. I had to look no further than Ward Thomas, who really delivers a powerful performance on this duet.”

FearlessFly comments on Apr 26, 2020:
"Piece of My Heart" is a romantic funk/soul love song written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. The song came to greater mainstream attention when Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin on lead vocals) covered the song in 1968 and had a much bigger hit with it. "Piece of My Heart" remains most associated with Joplin and continued to get airplay long after her death. Berns never got to hear Joplin's version, dying of a heart attack on December 30, 1967

ARETHA FRANKLIN - A Change is Gonna Come [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 26, 2020:
"A Change Is Gonna Come" is a song by American recording artist Sam Cooke. It initially appeared on Cooke's album Ain't That Good News, released mid-February 1964. The song was inspired by various personal events in Cooke's life, most prominently an event in which he and his entourage were turned away from a whites-only motel in Louisiana. Cooke felt compelled to write a song that spoke to his struggle and of those around him, and that pertained to the Civil Rights Movement and African Americans. The song contains the refrain, "It's been a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come."

Eagles I can't tell you why
FearlessFly comments on Apr 25, 2020:
The song was written by band members Timothy B. Schmit, Glenn Frey, and Don Henley. Recorded in March 1978, it was the first song finished for the album and the first Eagles song to feature Schmit on lead vocals. Schmit sang the lead vocals on the song, with Frey and Henley singing counterpoint. Schmit also played the bass on the track, which has the distinctive bass riff believed by Schmit to have been devised by Frey. According to Henley, Frey came up with the counterpart on the song, and played the guitar solo on the song.

"Somewhere Down the Crazy River" is a 1987 song by Robbie Robertson, initially released on Robertson's debut solo album Robbie Robertson, with Sam Llanas on backing vocals. Robertson was describing his experiences of hanging out in his old neighbourhood of Arkansas with Levon Helm (fellow The Band member) during hot nights in which they were "fishing with dynamite" and had asked a local for directions to "somewhere down the crazy river"
