"When the Levee Breaks" is a country blues song written and first recorded by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie in 1929. The lyrics reflect experiences during the upheaval caused by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927. "When the Levee Breaks" was re-worked by English rock group Led Zeppelin as the last song on their untitled fourth album. Singer Robert Plant used many of the original lyrics and the songwriting is credited to Memphis Minnie and the individual members of Led Zeppelin. Many other artists have performed and recorded versions of the song.

Written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, "I Got the Blues" is a slow-paced, bluesy song. It features languid guitars with heavy influence of both blues and soul feel. In his review, Richie Unterberger compares the Stones' take on their early influences, saying, "Musically, it's very much in the school of slow Stax ballads, by [Otis] Redding and some others, with slow reverbed guitars with a gospel feel, dignified brass, and a slow buildup of tension."

"Sometimes When We Touch" is a 1977 ballad written by Dan Hill (lyrics) and Barry Mann (music) on the album Longer Fuse. Hill was inspired to write "Sometimes When We Touch" from a previous relationship. In an interview with CBN News in 2017, Hill explained that the song was about being in love with someone who did not have similar feelings for him, "She was interested in another man, so that was breaking my heart. So I thought I needed to write a song that would capture her and win her over—that would be so passionate in a sense that she’d see that I’m the only guy for her."

ABBA.
FearlessFly comments on Apr 11, 2020:
The song is loosely based on the famous story of The Pied Piper of Hamelin. It is regarded by some ABBA fans as being very different from the more mainstream songs they had recorded until this time. In particular, the dark lyrics dealing with the seduction by fascistic leaders and a somewhat medieval sound (drums, flute, choral) are not seen in their earlier songs. It is also the only ABBA song where a part of the refrain is in Latin. The song has gained a small cult following among ABBA fans

The album version of the song starts with a slowed-down voice stating "Don't worry, I won't hurt you. I only want you to have some fun." Prince shares lead vocals on the track with members of his band The Revolution, namely Dez Dickerson, Lisa Coleman and Jill Jones. Originally conceived to be a three-part harmony, it was later decided to separate out the voices that started each verse. Some music critics have suggested Phil Collins' 1985 song "Sussudio" sounds very similar to "1999". Collins confirmed this claim, and remembers listening to "1999" frequently while he was on tour with Genesis

Good one hit wonder Safety Dance with a different mix of old time dancing.
FearlessFly comments on Apr 10, 2020:
The song was written by lead singer Ivan Doroschuk after he had been kicked out of a club for pogo dancing. The writer/lead singer, Ivan Doroschuk, has explained that "The Safety Dance" is a protest against bouncers prohibiting dancers from pogoing to 1980s new wave music in clubs when disco was dying and new wave was up and coming. New wave dancing, especially pogoing, was different from disco dancing, because it was done individually instead of with partners and involved holding the torso rigid and thrashing about. To uninformed bystanders this could look dangerous, especially if pogoers accidentally bounced into one another (the more deliberately violent evolution of pogoing is slamdancing). The bouncers did not like pogoing so they would tell pogoers to stop or be kicked out of the club. Thus, the song is a protest and a call for freedom of expression

Stormy Monday Allman Brothers [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 10, 2020:
"Call It Stormy Monday (But Tuesday Is Just as Bad)" (commonly referred to as "Stormy Monday") is a song written and recorded by American blues electric guitar pioneer T-Bone Walker. It is a slow twelve-bar blues performed in the West Coast blues-style that features Walker's smooth, plaintive vocal and distinctive guitar work. Brothers Duane and Gregg Allman began performing "Stormy Monday" with their early group, the Allman Joys, and it later became part of the Allman Brothers Band's repertoire. A March 1971 performance of the song at the Fillmore East concert hall in New York City was recorded and released on their At Fillmore East album in 1971. Their version is based on Bobby Bland's 1961 recording, but expanded to over eight minutes with improvised soloing.

R. L. Burnside (November 23, 1926 – September 1, 2005) was an American blues singer, songwriter and guitarist. He played music for much of his life but received little recognition before the early 1990s. In the latter half of that decade, Burnside recorded and toured with Jon Spencer, garnering crossover appeal and introducing his music to a new fan base in the punk and garage rock scenes. His drone-heavy style was more characteristic of North Mississippi hill country blues than Delta blues.

That means you need competent law-enforcement agencies, which the U.S. has. The second part of being able to track serial killers is once the killer is identified, it has to be announced by law enforcement and made available in prison records. The information has to be available to the public." . . . in other words -- YMMV :P

It's about a young girl with dreams who wants to find her own identity. She needs to break free of the small close-minded town she grew up in. It's all she knows, but she's willing to leave to follow her dreams - and be somebody in this world. But unfortunately, what she once dreamt of has now turned into a sad spiral of addiction and defeat. The only thing she's left with are broken dreams and a devastating reality of how hard life can be. A side note: Symbolically, the narrator could be seen as God and the young woman seen as an imperfect human going through life. With God giving spiritual encouragement to 'hold on', knowing she will one day find her way in life."

Why You Should Never Say "It's Just A Theory" - YouTube
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
I just noticed that Professor Daves' 'science video' (30 sec. in) got Isaac Newtons' birth year WRONG (it shows 1643) . Newton was born in the same year Gallileo died -- 1642 ! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Newton
Found out 76% of the world’s serial killers come from the USA. Why is that?

. . . not necessarily doubting that, but IMO, reliable source(s) should be provided.
Moonlight Mile Rolling Stones [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
"Moonlight Mile was all Mick's. As far as I can remember, Mick came in with the whole idea of that, and the band just figured out how to play it.[5] - Keith Richards, Life magazine The lyrics are elliptical and mysterious, but touch on the alienation of life on the road: The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind Just another mad mad day on the road I am just living to be lying by your side But I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road

Mick Jagger performs lead and backing vocals with Keith Richards. Richards and Mick Taylor perform the song's guitars. Bass and drums are provided by Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts, respectively. Piano is provided by Stones' recording veteran Nicky Hopkins. Saxophone is by Bobby Keys and both trumpet and trombone are by Jim Price. The album's producer, Jimmy Miller, provides the maracas. It is not known who plays the steel drum.

In April 2016, Paul Simon endorsed the cover. Additionally, on April 1, Simon sent Draiman an email praising Disturbed's performance of the rendition on American talk show Conan. Simon wrote, "Really powerful performance on Conan the other day. First time I'd seen you do it live. Nice. Thanks." Draiman responded, "Mr. Simon, I am honored beyond words. We only hoped to pay homage and honor to the brilliance of one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Your compliment means the world to me/us and we are eternally grateful."
A little bit of Grateful Dead Not fade away Smoking! [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
. . . is Dead God :) "Not Fade Away" is a song credited to Buddy Holly (originally under his first and middle names, Charles Hardin) and Norman Petty (although Petty's co-writing credit is likely to have been a formality[3]) and first recorded by Holly and his band, the Crickets. The Grateful Dead first performed "Not Fade Away" on June 19, 1968 at the Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco, California, and subsequently performed it more than 600 more times before the group disbanded in 1995, following the death of lead guitarist Jerry Garcia. The surviving members reunited and played the song for the time as the Grateful Dead as the last song of the second set (before the encores) on the last night of Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of the Grateful Dead where the song signified that the fans' love of the band and the band's love of the fans "will not fade away."

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Powderfinger [youtube.com]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
"Powderfinger" is the first song of the second, electric, side of Rust Never Sleeps. Allmusic critic Jason Ankeny describes the song, following the album's mellower, acoustic first side, as "a sudden, almost blindsiding metamorphosis, which is entirely the point — it's the shot you never saw coming." The lyrics are the posthumous narration of a young man who attempts to protect his family against an approaching gunboat. He realizes that all of the older men are unavailable, leaving him "to do the thinking". After initial indecision, he eventually takes action, and is ultimately killed. He describes his death with the gruesome line "my face splashed in the sky."
Red red wine Bob Marley ( I like his version the best) [youtu.
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
(from thegrapesunwrapped.com) Combing through my knowledge of his music, along with the help of the internet, there are so many references to Marley singing “Red Red Wine”, which all appear erroneous to me. The song was originally written and performed by some guy named Neil Diamond, and was covered by a Jamaican reggae singer, Tony Tribe, in 1969. When the best known version of the song, by UB40, was released in the ‘80s, the band said they thought they were covering Tony Tribe, and not Neil Diamond.

Mike & The Mechanics - The Living Years [youtube.com]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
"The Living Years" is a ballad written by Mike Rutherford and B. A. Robertson, and recorded by Rutherford's British rock band Mike + The Mechanics. It was released in December 1988 in the United Kingdom and in the United States as the second single from their album Living Years. The song addresses a son's regret over unresolved conflict with his now-deceased father.

FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
(a bit pedantic perhaps) but the "nothing to hide" assertion : a) based on a false premise -- if there are things one would rather not be widely known, one MUST be doing something WRONG :P b) this assertion is virtually always made by a person who is FULLY CLOTHED ! :O
Look closely -- on the tree branch. Not something I would see every day.

"You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" is a rock song written by Randy Bachman and first performed by Bachman–Turner Overdrive (BTO) for the album Not Fragile (1974). The lyrics for the song tell of the singer meeting a "devil woman" who gives him love. The chorus of the song includes the song's famous stutter and speaks of her looking at him with big brown eyes and [saying] 'You ain't seen nothin' yet. B-, b-, b-, baby, you just ain't seen na, na, nothin yet. Here's somethin' that you're never gonna forget. B-, b-, b-, baby, you just ain't seen na, na, nothin yet.'

Rab Noakes was brought up in Cupar. He has performed with Lindisfarne, who recorded his songs "Turn a Deaf Ear" on their first album, Nicely Out of Tune, and "Together Forever" on their second, Fog on the Tyne. Barbara Dickson also recorded "Turn a Deaf Ear" on her album Do Right Woman, on which Noakes also performed. Noakes also sang backing vocals and played guitar on the first solo album by Gerry Rafferty, Can I Have My Money Back, and became an early member of Stealers Wheel, although he left them before they recorded their first album.
Springtime in Alaska Johnny Horton [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
The song takes place in Fairbanks, Alaska in the springtime. The narrator/singer is a prospector making a trip to Fairbanks after two years in the wilderness; he decides to visit a saloon and hears "redheaded Lil" singing the title words. He and Lil spend the evening dancing, but the singer is unaware that Lil is "Big Ed's wife-to-be." Big Ed discovers the two dancing and throws his knife at the singer, who predicts that he will not survive his wound: "When it's springtime in Alaska, I'll be six feet below."
The next pandemic is already starting.

"The Sound of Silence", originally "The Sounds of Silence", is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. The song was written by Paul Simon over several months in 1963 and 1964. Aretha Franklin. - Say A Little Prayer. [youtu.be] An all time favourite!
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
"I Say a Little Prayer" is a song written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick. Franklin and background vocalists The Sweet Inspirations were singing the song for fun while rehearsing the songs intended for the album when the viability of their recording "I Say a Little Prayer" became apparent, significantly re-invented from the format of the Dionne Warwick original via the prominence of Clayton Ivey's piano work.
I ran across this in my saved videos, and for some reason, it just feels appropriate today.
FearlessFly comments on Apr 9, 2020:
(savingcountrymusic.com) The disc also includes 3 Shades of Black, which climaxes with a bloodcurdling scream, and Stoned & Alone, a country ballad. “My dad’s version of that song would be The Pressure Is On,’ he said. “I still live for the road; I don’t live for a lady – I guess that’s part of the problem.”
