THE ROLLING STONES "Bob Wills Is Still The King" (Live) A Waylon Jennings song.
FearlessFly comments on Feb 28, 2020:
"Bob Wills Is Still the King" is a song written and performed by American country music artist Waylon Jennings, as a tribute of sorts to the Western swing icon Bob Wills. The exact meaning of the song, which also alludes to Jennings' fellow outlaw country star Willie Nelson, has been the subject of considerable commentary. Nonetheless "Bob Wills Is Still the King" continues to be a staple at classic country radio stations and the satellite radio channel Willie's Roadhouse, for example, plays both versions of the song. The live version is included in Classic Country Music: A Smithsonian Collection, a multi-volume set of recordings released by the Smithsonian Institution in 1990 that contains 100 tracks deemed to be significantly important to the history of country music.

FearlessFly comments on Feb 28, 2020:
Guitarist Tom Cochrane wrote the song after becoming concerned about a resurgence of anti-Semitism in the 1970s, and was also inspired after reading a book about Raoul Wallenberg, who rescued Jews from The Holocaust during World War II. Some sources[example needed] have incorrectly cited the murder of John Lennon as the song's primary inspiration; Cochrane had already written the song before Lennon was killed, but recorded the song's first demo the evening of the murder.

FearlessFly comments on Feb 28, 2020:
When Bee Gees manager Robert Stigwood was producing a movie about a New York disco scene, the working title for the film at that time was Saturday Night. Stigwood asked the group to write a song using that name as a title, but the Bee Gees disliked it. They had already written a song called "Night Fever", so the group convinced Stigwood to use that and change the film to Saturday Night Fever.

COLLECTIVE SOUL "Shine" (Live)...
FearlessFly comments on Feb 28, 2020:
Due to the song's lyrical themes, particularly the mention of "heaven", Collective Soul was often early on regarded as a Christian band. Ed Roland elaborated, "I remember around the time ["Shine" came out] getting into an argument with a writer who said, 'You're a Christian band.' I said, 'No, we're not.' 'Well, you have the word heaven in your song.' And I said, 'Well, so does Led Zeppelin. I don't remember anyone saying they were a Christian band.'"

On the second side of the album, three songs ("Ride Across the River", "The Man's Too Strong" and "Brothers in Arms") are lyrically focused on militarism. Pulling Teeth - Green Day
FearlessFly comments on Feb 28, 2020:
Pulling Teeth is a tongue-in-cheek story about an unusual abusive relationship where the female beats up the male and not vice versa. The one thing that is quite typical is that the abused person is in denial - he screams "oh God, she's killing me", yet tells himself "she takes good care of me, just keep saying my love is true". Scared of the violence, he still doesn't want to end this relationship. The song is, of course, not a tragic tale of domestic abuse, but more of a friendly joke. It is said that Pulling Teeth has been inspired by a strange occasion in Mike Dirnt's life - after a pillow fight with his girlfriend he ended up with both elbows broken. Armstrong found that funny and wrote a song about the 'violent' girlfriend.

It is a classic of the band's repertoire and has been consistently played at live shows ever since its release. Written and produced by Mike Scott, the subject of the song has inspired some speculation. The song began as a "scribble on the back of an envelope on a wintry New York street", after Scott's girlfriend asked him if it was difficult to write a song. Like The Waterboys' first single "A Girl Called Johnny", the song is a tribute to an inspirational figure or figures. In each line, the singer describes his own perspective and immediately contrasts it with that of the song's subject, summarizing the difference with the line "I saw the crescent / You saw the whole of the moon".

Written by Yes members Jon Anderson and Chris Squire, it was first included on 1971's The Yes Album and has appeared on several later albums. As with many progressive rock songs, the track consists of multiple distinct movements spliced together to form a cohesive longer work. The first movement, titled "Your Move", was released as a single. It became a top 40 hit in the United States, which helped the group build momentum. Later, album-oriented rock stations would frequently play the entire nearly seven-minute track, including both "Your Move" and the second movement titled "All Good People"; this version remains a staple of classic rock stations to today. The tune uses chess as a lyrical metaphor for navigating interpersonal relationships, and contains several allusions to the music of John Lennon.
THIS IS LOVE - GEORGE HARRISON .
FearlessFly comments on Feb 27, 2020:
Harrison co-wrote the song with Jeff Lynne, who also co-produced the track. In June 1988, it was issued as the third single from Cloud Nine. The original B-side for the single was going to be "Handle with Care", a collaboration between Harrison, Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty recorded at Bob Dylan's studio in Santa Monica, California. When executives at Harrison's distributor Warner Bros. Records heard the track, they decided it was too good to be released as single "filler", a decision that resulted in the formation of the Traveling Wilburys, and the album Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1, with "Handle with Care" as the lead track and single.

The video was shot in Fort Worth, Texas at the Bodega bar by longtime friend and videographer Dustin Dow and our new friend, Larry Hinson, whom we met on the ‘Defy The Sun Tour’ with Otherwise. “‘It Won’t Last’ is about the fleeting feelings of a hookup. You have this intense connection with someone for such a short time, but then in the morning, you realize it was just an intoxicating moment.

A musical written by Barnsley-born poet Ian McMillan based on Thackray's songs and their characters, Sister Josephine Kicks the Habit, premiered in 2005 and toured the north of England. A rewrite by Alan Plater was due to tour the UK in 2007, but was put on hold following the death of executive producer Ian Watson.

The song was first recorded for their self-titled independent cassette in 1992. It was re-recorded in 1993 for their debut album, Bargainville, with a few changes to the lyrics, including the replacement of some authors with others. This second version is the one best known to fans, and also the one performed live by the band, as on their live album Live Noise.

FearlessFly comments on Feb 25, 2020:
"I Think We're Alone Now" is a song written and composed by Ritchie Cordell. The lyrics of the song speak of parental prohibition, especially against sexual activities, and have both the narrator and the person being addressed "trying to get away into the night" to avoid, evade, or defy such prohibition. The first few words of the song, "Children behave! And watch how you play when you're together," makes this quite clear.
