FearlessFly comments on Dec 23, 2019:
This was Lennon's only solo number 1 single in the United States during his lifetime, and Lennon was the last member of the Beatles to achieve his first American number one solo hit.

Squeeze- I Think I'm Go Go [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Dec 23, 2019:
Chris Difford said about the lyrics, "This was a song about touring, which could be a very strange experiences. It would get to the stage where I'd think 'I don't know where I am, I don't know which county I am in, what time we're onstage, or who I'm sleeping with.' 'I think I'm go go' was the turn of phrase in the band at the time."
Roky Erickson - You Don't Love Me Yet [youtu.be]
FearlessFly comments on Dec 23, 2019:
While best known for his snarling garage-rockers, some of Erickson’s most memorable songs were haunting ballads like “You Don’t Love Me Yet” and “I Have Always Been Here Before,” whose heart-wrenching melodies belied the torment hinted in the lyrics.

FearlessFly comments on Dec 23, 2019:
The lyrics consist of the narrator ruminating on places that he has never visited, but feels that he has some proxy experience of, via the music or other features of those places, or from having gone to similar locations. In the final verse, he observes that while he has "never been to heaven," he has "been to Oklahoma," where he was told he was born, thus implying a kinship between the two places. Hoyt Axton, who was born in Oklahoma explained that he originally wrote, "...in Oklahoma, born in a coma...." However, it was considered inappropriate; thus, the lyrics were changed to "not Arizona."

The Kinks - Father Christmas [youtube.com]
FearlessFly comments on Dec 23, 2019:
It tells of a department store Father Christmas who is beaten up by a gang of poor kids who tell him to give them money instead of toys, as toys are impractical; and asks that the toys be given "to the little rich boys." At one point, a child asks the narrator to give his/her father a job for Christmas—or, if he must deliver a toy, a machine gun.

"Sweet Thing" is a "surprisingly successful" cover of a song by Van Morrison, originally from Morrison's 1968 album, Astral Weeks. The Waterboys' version on this album is a medley; the song ends with the unplanned addition of verses from The Beatles' "Blackbird", which Scott impulsively sang on the spot. The Waterboys' cover of "Sweet Thing" also appeared on the second compact disc of the re-release of This Is the Sea.

Zappa described the album as a "stupid little story about how the government is going to do away with music." After being released from prison into a dystopian society in which music itself has been criminalized, he lapses into insanity.
