Fernapple comments on Apr 30, 2022:
I don't agree with. "I don't wanna face my sins." Atheism to me at least, means taking responsibility for your actions, even if not maybe, the supposed inherited sins handed down from Adam and Eve. However, I do like the irony of the title "Thank god i'm an atheist." and the "Its the worst kind of evil, when everybody thinks its good. " is just a great line.

Hello people, I need some advice.
Fernapple comments on Apr 30, 2022:
Depends a lot on size and your patience. The quickest way to clear the weeds is herbicide, but only if you are not organic, then after a couple of doses and three to four weeks, you may cultivate or not as you like. The second easiest is a black plastic sheet, but that will take several months. The third way would be cultivation, which if they are only annual weeds and smaller less deep rooted grasses, will take only a couple of months, but if there are deep rooted weeds then it may take you the whole first year. Without a photo and or more details, especially about the types of weed, it is not possible to say much more.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning. Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, So shall he descend to your roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth. • All these things shall love do unto you that you may know the secrets of your heart, and in that knowledge become a fragment of Life’s heart. But if in your fear you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, Then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, Into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears. Alone with depression
Fernapple comments on Apr 23, 2022:
The first and most important thing to do, is to understand that problems often do solve themselves in the most surprising ways. Human lives are long and things change, frequently in ways you can not even begin to guess. But the second thing to understand, is that, to give yourself the best chance of seeing things change, you have to be active and willing to adventure. The only people for whom nothing ever changes, is those who sit on their hands. The first thing to try, if trying to find a way out of aloneness is. If you want society, then make a contribution to society. Since the churches are closed to you, find a secular charity or two and become a worker for them, be it raising funds for cancer research, helping run the local museum, a wildlife sanctuary, taking old people out, the list is endless and there is something for every taste. You will soon find lots of sub-communities you can become a part of without going to church. And you never know, as you build a place for yourself in that world, you may get really lucky, and one day one of your co-workers may say. "There is someone you really should meet, you have so much in common." The second thing is understand there is a big world out there beyond the limits of Carolina. Travel and learn about it, then even move house, if you have to. Why should you not choose where you live for yourself, rather than leaving it to the accident of birth or the company you work for, to choose it for you ? Would you choose a marriage partner, by picking a name out of a hat ? Therefore why let your home and travel limits be chosen for you, just by chance ? And lastly understand that you are not alone, even if it sometimes seems that you are, there are a lot of connections to a lot of people, that you have made already, just count the comments below. And this is just one strand of life.
It is not about peace

Why do some people feel a need to always be insulting some other individual or group?
Fernapple comments on Apr 21, 2022:
Some people are not aware that they are being insulting. Some do it out of laziness because they do not care. Some are left with no other resort by their respondents. Some feel that telling the truth is more important than another's feelings. Some have been raised in sub-cultures where they are not taught any other response. Some feel that belittling others is a way to overcome their own feelings of inferiority. Some enjoy drama. Some want to gain attention. Some want to attract the attention or approval of a third party. Some want to attract attention to what they feel are neglected ideas, which will not get attention unless spiced with drama. Some feel that other human groups are not worthy of respect and that giving them such belittles the respect they give their own group. Some want to attract violence to themselves, as an act of self sacrifice. Some do it to manipulate the mental state of the insulted. Some don't do it, but are thought to have done it. And probably a lot more reasons.

REGARDING THE RECENT ARCANE DIALOG ABOUT NEAR EASTERN AND SOUTHERN EUROPEAN MYTHOLOGY.
Fernapple comments on Apr 20, 2022:
"White entitlement" is not an example of Orwellian "new thought", but quite real. I know this for the very simple reason, if for no other reason than, that, being white, I have enjoyed the benefits of it though my whole life. Since I am confident that I would certainly not have enjoyed my limited success, if I had been exactly the same person, but with a darker skin coloration. That is only a single example, based upon no more than personal experience, so it is technically a very weak argument, if you wish to dismiss it, you are welcome. Where people are unable to enjoy equal levels of entitlement, then it naturally follows, that they will suffer higher levels of, "criminality and social disintegration", both in real terms and in the biased judgments that the entitled pass upon them. But that is a symptom of the injustice caused by false entitlement, probably even a proof of that entitlements existence, and the very opposite of a proof of any natural trend towards "criminality and social disintegration ". And now to the "ad hominem" part of the argument, so that you can dismiss me cheaply. Which is to say that I do not really know why I wasted time on this, and so far as it goes, I am quite content that my argument is based on the weak, generalization from the particular, fallacy, and no better than that. Because if you can dismiss the good clear points made by TheMiddleWay, towkneed and before being goaded into it Flyingsaucesir, below as mere ad hominem attacks, then I am sure that you can find spurious reasons to dismiss any argument, and I am therefore quite content to have only given a second rate statement.
I need to remind myself of this often.

Fernapple comments on Apr 17, 2022:
Maybe there is a lot of truth in that. But there is a lot of evidence and history which indicates that it was, in the main, much more brutally simple than that. The South European cultures especially the Roman and Greek simply had a cultural history of colonization, knew how to do it well, and when the Roman Empire failed as a military power, the churches, both Greek and Roman, simply carried on with the cultural imperialism. They could do that in part because of the prestige of the former empire, was seen as both a military and national ideal, and also as a prize to be won, by many they wished to colonize. Which made the conquest easy, since the ruling classes were all too willing to be colonized, and then to force their adopted culture on to the much more reluctant, and slower to uptake, people. Especially since the Southern cultures still enjoyed the better climate, plus access to the trading routes of the Mediterranean sea etc.. And many think that you win the cultural wars, by adopting the most prestigious culture as well as its trade for yourself, often the reverse of a military conquest. So that the mythology of the Norse, Germanic and Slavic, were simply the ones who lost the culture wars and got colonized, by the imperial churches. In part because the leaders of the of those lands were willing to sell out their gods for silks, wines, some fancy titles and paintings.

It is best to use a desktop, for most of the complicated stuff, since they usually cope with updates far better, and the worst thing that happens is that they slow down for a bit. I used to have a card swipe machine, to take payments in the business, and every few days, it would crash completely for an hour or more when an update came through. Always of course, when you were serving a customer. Very embarrassing.
