Was it luck or something else? I had similar experience. I had not seen my highschool friend, in 60 yrsrs...and she located me somehow when I moved back here and invited me to a reunion of our basketball team. She was always a delight back in school...well, that was about the worst meeting for me, with my old teammates and even the coach! ALL, were evangelicals, using their religious words, to try and connect...I couldn't believe they were ever, part of my life! I never went back again...I WAS a bull in a China shop with them! I feel a little sad, as I needed them back in the day, but I can't go back...

That is so.apropo...my friend corrected me a lot in the past and i tried to bring her along with logic and now i think my friend would like to be where I am, but she cannot connect what i have become to some of OUR learning processes. As we aged, she became more closed off and I did the opposite!

My feeling is, that is doubtful! In fact we kinda got into a heated discussion about fear a couple of weeks ago! Just for example...years back when she was selling her house and locating to her present location, i.got on her roof to cut limbs that were laying on the roof...and she went into a panic mode, even though I was perfectly capable and there was no problem! I would say, thst she is fearful of my lack of fear!!! I felt like we have been teetering on a fence for some time. ..and I think she intends to sit there!!! lol

@Diogenes she has very responsible job, is very helpful, if asked, and smart, but she gravitates toward conspiracy theories and Fox...when in a discussion, she can repeat (with force and overtalking) their talking points, to support her position! I believe, that if you develop a habit of blocking out information that offends your senses, then the information you can only let in is going to be one sided. She is almost completely having a one pointed view! Since we pick up traits from our parents inadvertently, she must have picked up my 'controlling' parenting when I was responsible for 5 children, and had poor parenting skills! @Aenith ...in my experience with people on proving there is a GOD, these people can take every reason they are given that no God exist and twist it to prove that one does exist. They are taught that from Sunday school and the pulpit and all those Bible Study classes all over this country (every day at the Whitehouse, now). And, no science is included in their teachings.

I once joined a group that was to help people getting out of prison to acclimate back into society. It was made up of mostly Evangelicals, and as the group proceeded with meetings, the people with the most say, kept telling the rest of us that...it was a "gold mine' for people just waiting to be delivered to the 'Lord'...my friends and I had to drop out,...they are "overtaking', in their approach!

One thing that helped me the most in my whole life, was when I could examine me, as all that I am and excepted all of it as my 'truth'...and then left by the way side, actions that brought me little good! ( Some of my rough edges, I found out I could put to better use.)
