For me..,the reason I have wanted to know why people can do such evil things as in killing/raping other people...I needed to understand! And I have never applied my search to specific ethnic or social groups. I wanted to know why and how could they? But, if I go back to my own childhood, there was an anxiety surrounding men and boys...they could harm and there was no way to know who might be that person...so I tried to keep a distance...not just physical distance but emotional. I saw things that I did not understand, but I was able to stay mostly unharmed! But, this distance could be the reason that I have always felt that my whole childhood was so sad for me! I cannot remember much love, fun or affirmation! Just trying to survive...all kinda on my own! And my mother’s attitude weighed heavy on me (even through as a child it was just something I felt, but tried not to be aware of). When I looked back from my grown up self, I knew my mother’s pain...I wanted to help her, but she also kept me at a distance. (No safety there either.) And, her psychopathy did get worse as the years passed! Why am I bringing this into this discussion, I think it is all tied to how can people be so cruel or kill one another! (And there were killings in my childhood.). It’s stamped into one’s psyche, when there is so much uncertainty in a childhood! To survive I started to prepare (not consciously) on how can i could ward off this kind of danger...maybe if I go deep enough into the study of it, I will know danger...if I ever run into it?
