I do not recall a single word of instruction on sex in my childhood. It seemed taboo, except at Church you heard how sinful ‘fornication’ and ‘adultery’ was. Many women (and men) have revealed to me abuses and rapes that they were telling for the first tine in old age! It was kept hidden in the past, and we were all ashamed to say anything, because it seemed we somehow deserved it. And, in my case, I thought it was just the way life worked. It was the price we paid to be with other people. When I grew up, we lived out in the country and most of the people were poor and even uneducated. I cannot recall the better educated people associating with us. Just like country neighborhoods today, people mostly kept to themselves! Children were easy prey, for old men and older boys. And a girl knew that she would not be believed. Even in my mother’s youth, the child was not believed and even punished for suggesting sexual abuse! (My daughter does that and with her back to me.) this is just a lazy way to communicate. Now, I believe my daughter does it, because she has so many things to do on her agenda, she has no time for living in the moment! Too many things must get done! My guess is...in my daughter’s case...one day she will just kill over from a heart attack! That’s not normal living.
Take heart, if it really cannot be managed to your best ‘health wise,’ it would be better to retire at 62. My other daughter did exactly that! A stressful job, works against our health! And it is all that we have going into our old age! I have been watching ‘Ted’ on the research that has been done on cortisol (stress hormone) and what it does to our bodies. It is very damaging!! There will be a way for you to manage, you have managed life up to now...no reason to think that skill will disappear! I hope that things iron out...keep your friends close to help you, when you get snagged! My best!

@HippieChick58 maybe you should have told her that is what it took to get her attention! Here is another story similar to your situation. Now I have some kind of different understanding than I had in my 40s-60s. (I knew very little on this issue back then.). But my neighbor (now 70) was a supervisor at the IRS, before she retired. And she admits, that she had no patience for ‘slow’ and needy people. (And she is still one of the least understanding and tolerate person). And, at one point I said to myself that had ‘she been one of my supervisors back when I worked at the IRS, I would have killed myself!’ Lol...She is a clear narcissist and I cannot imagine what she was like as a supervisor! But it could not have been good! These people get to these positions because they are smart in learning details and the mechanics of things, but emotionally they are also mechanical...their understanding of feelings do not come from empathetic feelings! Just words that describe what they are displeased about and there it ends. Hang in there... keep seeing through her, as her approach is probably not based in ‘smarts AND humility!’ These people chafe at seeing any resemblance of real (frustration etc) emotions in other people. I surmise that they ‘dare not,’ go there...because at some point in their development...this personality type, put up a block to their (soft) emotions and it has been like that for so long, even a ‘peak’ (when other people display a real frustrsted emotion in their presence), this seems to bring on panic for them. Why else would they ‘blow’...so to speak! I know you did not ask for this story...but this is my neighbor and she leans on me and I want to make sure, I ‘see her’ in her truest behavior! She is ‘hard work’ when it comes to the ‘calm living’ side! Lol. And yet we are neighbors and she would come in a jiffy, if I needed help! I need to understand...I want to keep myself together!

The trouble is that the electorate is being given the finger by their MPs. A majority voted in 2016 to leave the EU, but the majority of MPs do not agree with the decision .... so MPs are working to prevent the UK leaving the EU

I know it is best to get a ‘win win’...but to say that ‘it is not good democracy’...I don’t know? The majority in this Country voted for Clinton, but the electoral college voted differently...so is that good democracy? I wonder? It seems to me that there was ‘indoctrination,’ that countered ‘good democracy’...across Europe and the US, with no good intent. In other words, it appears to me it was ‘for the lessor good’ and was not driven ‘for the good of mankind!’ Narcissistic thinking and motives would not benefit democracy and it appears to me that this behavior is found more in this movement! Getting something going ‘their way,’ just for the ‘hell of it’..or, I want, what I want! And I do know as fact, that people like the Mercers put their money behind spreading their kind of narrow vision of mankind's betterment...and IT is not democracy! Do we wait and use war to straighten out the ‘demise,’ of a country that started with other errant people?
