There is a condition that can cause one to laugh or cry inappropriately. Though I can't recall the name of it, I believe I may have a touch of it and I hear it can get worse with time. Pseudobulbar affect ....PBA

I would not worry on it, to much! We all have something that’s a little off!!! At least it isn’t a character flaw!

It's just like an orgasm it's a release, in this case of emotions. I would be ashamed of it. I still cry when I watch Old Yeller or Girls Gone Wild The Movie.

Oh, how I love that movie! And, it still makes me cry! But, I parted with it, when I downsized and gave up all my movies! Now, I am sad for that!!!

Tough question! When I was younger I thought only weak people cry. As I get older (I'm 40) I find myself becoming more sensitive to the world around me... and yes this big hairy guy cries... although I do it when I'm by myself. A song will on the radio and make me think of my grandpa and I'll cry ...

Really depends. Some exercise crying to influence others. In this context, crying is not a weakness, it is a tool. I don't openly cry but do (on rare events) become teary-eyed. This response is evoked when realizing the suffering (profound loss) of others.

Crying can also be an indication of depression. I have been there, done that!

@FrayedBear the posters will create more anger in the people they are referencing! They are being made fun of! I remember ever so clearly, a very dear friend, saying to me, after she heard Clinton call people, ‘deplorables,’ ‘I am one of those deplorables, and I am voting for trump!’ There is a fine line, when calling people out and trying to motivate them to consider other angles on any matter! I have enough experience with trump supporting family members...if they feel the least bit, talked down to...they want hear a word from that point on! They will only get more determined to defend their position!

Freedompath replies on Oct 27, 2018:
@Stepmomofdragons well, don’t worry about bothering people here...that is what WE do here. Keep ‘wading out into the fray,’ you will learn new things and even some will be about yourself (all of which can be put to good use). At least I have learned things here, that have been most helpful. Plus being in the ‘mist,’ of people who share my ideas about ‘no god,’ might be a god, and I could care less about it one way or the other, feels right to me! Freedom to think about things is what I need and sometimes I want to do that with other people! ‘The journey of a thousand miles, starts with the first step!’ Best of luck!

@Science-guy i try and relate clearly and honestly with every person that I meet! I know first hand about mental illness! There is no short term fix...took me at least 25 or more years of therapy to get my own head straight! Because, we live in our own minds, it seems normal, and even when others complain or point out our distorted thinking and behaving, most people will just resist! What was my great motivator? It was watching and being part of this insanity, I wanted more than that!

Everything is at the end of a long causal chain. In hindsight you can always find "if onlys" that seem like turning-points, but who knows.
