As I said on one other thread...people bonded with trump as a entertainer and especially, with that...’you’re fired,’ part! People who work at jobs that give little joy, and that have not been able to develop something outside their work that gave their life meaning...bonded with that ‘tough guy’ approach! That is how a lot of these people found/find meaning after work, it is in their TV. They, do not see his true colors laid out in black and white..,by HIM! His other history is imbedded in their minds. You can see this in an abused family unit...even when a member gets help and can see things that are hurtful to THEM, they will keep going back and getting tangled up with the ‘sickness!’ It takes time and work to not be drawn backwards! It is familiar and not being familiar in our own life, is scary for all of us! I know lots of people who use their pass-time watching tv...and not the kind of programs that forces you to see the world in ‘real time!’ They will tell you...’I couldn’t watch’ so and so...because ugliness is not easy on the eyes nor the emotions! And ‘avoiding’ can become a way to live in this world...and it is never emotionally healthy! That is just my evaluation from people around me!

People must learn new coping and relating skills. And, narcissistic behavior is especially hard to treat and change! Sociology and psychology and even neuroscience cannot predict outcomes! They can shine some insight on the problems, but too much depends on the people with the problem...how much effort will they put forth to fix what is out of kilter! I myself have devoted years of study, aside from my treatment and the probability for success is most likely very low. History shows how long it takes to recover, when wars are over! They seem to be in some kind of ‘frozen’ pattern and once-in-a-while, one or more will speak out and then ‘dead air!’ I hate talking points, but the GOP, must pass out their talking points and nearly everyone will be saying the same thing! Apparently, the ‘masses’ need this sort of urging to be motivated! I can only hope that only their base is being moved by their inhumane actions! The Democrats could surely counter in a similar fashion with ‘logic and reason’ on a regular wide spread basis? Surely, the people in this country can take to ‘heart,’ serious issues...other than just entertainment!

@Earthling50 in truth that has not been my experience. What I did get over many years, was helpful therapist that guided me to find my lost self and that in turn helped me to put both physical and emotional distance between my toxic environment. My other source of support was from average friends that shared love with me. But, I do not have a recollection of a single person of wealth or stature, giving me a hand-up! Actually, it has been quite the contrary! Maybe, it was my personality...I was never a ‘yes man’ not a fraternizer. I am not motivated by money, but ethics and morals! But, I did make sure I could pay my own meager way, which was often a challenge!

I eat lightly and only things I like, mostly fruits and vegetables, although I eat meat when I am in the mood! I do lots of physical things for excerise! Do I do these things like a religion...NO! That is just where I place my focus. Once after I was sent for physical therapy, after having difficulty walking and pain, I was advised to join a fitness center, which I did.
