As far as I am concerned that applies to all living beings. My current pup pack range in age from 3 to almost 13. My horses are 10 & 18 (the 18yo was 6 & abused when I got him - fyi I was offered $40,000 for him when we were showing but I knew he would be abused again - he has a few issues). My African Grey will be 26 April 13 and I have had him since he was 7 weeks old. Yes, they are forever when they come into my life.

I am from the coast of NC, currently live in the mountains of NC - the only down side is religion & politics but maybe one day that will change - one can hope, right? I have lived in CA. (San Diego & Irvine), CO. (Summit County), OK. (Carter County - 1/2 between OKC & Fort Worth), TX (just outside Austin), VA (north western) and WA (Poulsbo - across the sound from Seattle). Each place has wonderful aspects - you just have to find one that fits you. I love to try new places - my theory, you can always move! But you have to give each location at least 2 years.

Oh my gosh - my dad & I were just talking about this! He stopped & helped a mom with 3 kids when they had a flat tire - after HE changed the tire she wad over there thanking god - wth! god wasn't there doing anything.... smdh.

This is Wall-E. The previous homeowners left a couple cats here and he has adopted us.

I have moved quite a bit not only with my pups (all 8 ) but also with my horses & my 25 year old bird. As long as they are with me they could care less. One of my dogs just turned 12 and is blind. She learns her area and manages great. With all that said you don't necessarily have to put your plans on hold. I have been away from my 'kids' for the past 10 days helping with the hurricane damages and it is killing me. Especially since one of my boys is super bonded to me and he has been very sad since I left... So I understand your feelings of guilt.
