Never comfortable about writing about myself. Seems narcissistic. I have no idea what's applicable other than I'm a nonbeliever with a computer. 100,000 internet points to the first person to identify the background of my tag. Always looking to connect with like-minded individuals. Who reads these, anyways?
So. Seeing as I have 50 sustained visitors, the last question is being answered. For every 50 I'll post another pertainent fact about myself. If you have some burning questions IM me.
My first 50 fact is that I am an amputee. Right leg, above the knee.
As of this writing, I'm at 103 visitors. That being the case, I will field the first earnest question because I really don't know what you want to know.

What's your favorite spicy food?
Hicks66 comments on Apr 29, 2018:
Tex-Mex all the way. Jerk and roti are good too. Szechuan curried noodles take honorable mention.
Do you have a favorite decade of music?
Hicks66 comments on Feb 25, 2018:
Just one decade? Hmmm... The span I would choose from is 60s-90s. I'm going with the 70s because of the development of metal and prog rock. I know pop and disco were also prevalent but that's just coincident. Most of my favorite albums are from that decade. Remember concept albums? Who does that anymore besides maybe Mastodon?

What's the best live performance you've ever seen?
Hicks66 comments on Mar 14, 2018:
Well... the live performance where I had the most fun was Vicious Circle. They performed in the basement of a dive bar/hotel. They graciously took most of our requests while we moshed and slammed our way into the wee smalls.
So as summer starts to draw to a close this pressing question came to mind - Flip flips - yes or no?

I love western movies, so which one is your favorite?
Hicks66 comments on May 23, 2018:
A list of my favourites: The Outlaw Josey Wales True Grit (Both) Unforgiven Fist Full of Dollars (one time I rented this with Yojimbo and Last Man Standing not knowing they were the same damn movie) The Shootist Shane Tombstone Blazing Saddles (This is how the genius of Mel Brooks pays homage to a genre. Deal with it.) The White Buffalo I could go on. I love this genre. Even the crappy C grade stuff.
Any other Ibanez fans here?
Hicks66 comments on Aug 19, 2018:
I had an Ibanez P-bass copy. Black with a white pick guard. Traded it straight up for a BC Rich short scale which got stolen. I miss both.

How is this different from the election between Kang and Kodos? There is a prevailing thought that try-hards only achieve in politics when they can't in the private sector. The major motivation being personal gain.

Are you openly Atheist with your friends and family?
Hicks66 comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Doesn't seem to matter within my circle. Granted that could be projection on my part but no one seems to openly object when I express and patently atheist POV. Meanwhile matters of science and politics get challenged or affirmed in equal measure.
What is your biggest fear?
Hicks66 comments on Sep 4, 2018:

2 choices Italian food or Chinese?
Hicks66 comments on Mar 26, 2018:
Eew, toughie. Pasta and meat served in adult portions is really tempting. But Cantonese Chow Mein is just one way to settle a noodle craving. Now, we're talking about the Americanized stuff, right? I've had authentic Chinese. Black bean sauce and fish with the heads still on... a very salty pallet as I recall. But the various Chinese generals that have contributed to the preparing of chicken have earned my salute. And if you include Thai to the menu, then Chinese all the way. But I could subsist on a Bolognese diet quite readily too.
With or without music during sex?
Hicks66 comments on Mar 14, 2018:
I'm immediately reminded of that scene in Terminator when the robot "visited" Sarah's roommate and her boyfriend. It may have affected my choice to avoid music or just earbuds.
Bible’s purpose
Hicks66 comments on Feb 26, 2018:
More so to substantiate the exertion of control. For instance if I restrain someone it can be done with or without permission. But if both the oppressed and the oppressor share a belief in a god, the level of violence necessary to accomplish the oppression might decrease. So if one can convince someone else that God told him to lock her in the basement then her possibility of submission is increase. Self evident and creepy.

There are laws, ya know. Seriously though, I don't think I could fulfill the role of mentor very well if that's what she wanted. I don't know if I have the energy to keep up with some young go-getting lass. And I'm not hoping for a live-in nurse either. On the flip side, I dunno. Can I get back to you?
are you afraid of death?
Hicks66 comments on Jan 26, 2018:
Right now, yes. Death would suck. Annihilation is something I never looked forward to and would like to avoid. The prospect of an afterlife is attractive but unsubstantial. Read too much Lovecraft to trust the bipolar Heaven/Hell model. Staying centered in the here and now is how I cope.

Taking turns behind the wheel of a heavily customized armored Econoline packed to the rafters with state of the art weapons. We cruise the rain soaked streets righting wrongs and delivering the innocent from certain harm. All the time looting the ill gotten gains of evil doers. After a night of good work, we shed our armour and seek each other's embrace. The darkness scented with sweat and spent cordite. Then a shared bath.

Men don't like intelligent women.
Hicks66 comments on Feb 9, 2019:
I will not dispute the article's conclusion. But I see no real support for it either. The single cited study is behind a pay wall. I'm too cheap so it's veracity stays hidden to me. The article seems to be an indictment of "male fragility". I would posit that a strong capable woman has no need of a frail, emotional, dull and needy man. But swap the roles and the capable man would want to protect (dominate?) the willowy needy woman. It's an easier row to hoe for fulfilling a procreational agenda. For the capable ambitious woman, there are greater horizons. Motherhood might be but a small priority at the time she is making her sexual selection. It might affect how much effort she wants to devote to a relationship. Studies and career are time consuming for the genuinely ambitious. So two capable ambitious people would find it difficult to align schedules and the resulting frustration leads to second thoughts and cold feet.
Salty, salty, salty.

MEN: What would your reason be for asking a woman what she does for a living, upon meeting her?
Hicks66 comments on Aug 18, 2018:
I, for one, recognize profession as the tip of the iceberg when learning about an individual. If I were to discover someone who has a career rather than just a job, that is rare and fascinating to me. But to apply a mosaic of stereotypes based on profession, culture, race, religion or political bias is to miss the point of asking questions in the first place. IMHO.
