All my vegetable scraps from the kitchen go to one of those destinations. I've had the worm box for almost 10 years. The casting are very nutritious for the soil. Every spring I replace the castings for fresh bedding and mix the castings into the garden, and sometimes into the houseplant soil. The compost tumbler will get added to the garden soil as well. If you're curious read how to give a nitrogen boost to the compost pile, your son would be into that.

A Siamese kitten "followed" my brother home from work one evening. Mom and Dad said we could keep it, but she had to stay on the porch.... Well, when mom and dad weren't home we let her in. And then one day mom opened the door to get the mail and kitty walked right in. And she became an indoor cat. She usually slept on my bed. She was a talker, if I didn't go to bed on time she'd "scold" me. She was my first heart kitty.

@itsmeagain about 15 years ago I had to make final decisions for my aunt after she passed away. She never married or had kids,, and the only surviving sibling was far away and not mentally there anyway. Mary was frugal as hell, and I knew she wanted simple and cheap. It was like pulling teeth to get the funeral home to show us the cheap stuff. The funeral industry is a racket, I'm telling ya. I have one adult kid that has no kids, she will be in charge of me and settling my estate. I'm turning 65, I am going to get my stuff organized so if I do croak she knows where to find it and how to access it. Not that there is likely to be much left, but.... and we've discussed many times, I DON'T CARE. I won't be there. I prefer cheap but it is up to her and her sisters. They all know NO MINISTERS, no GoD, no hymns or dirges. Also, no heroic measures, when I'm fading away, let me go. Don't prolong the passing.
