Jan 2022 Media Bias chart is out. Where do your favorite news sources fall on this chart?
Julianrpe comments on Feb 12, 2022:
Very interesting post. Thanks for sharing. I don’t think every news source has to be portrayed as left, right or middle, tho
HippieChick58 replies on Feb 12, 2022:
A few years ago (or more than a few) I was married. My now ex was/is addicted to Fox News, and I couldn't stand Fox News, they just made me agitated and upset. It took me a divorce, distance, and some deprogramming to figure out why. I tend to work on projects while the TV is on, like crochet or needlework, so I'm not fully focused on what they are saying, but the message seeps into your system. I find their message wholly repugnant. Every news source has a message that they are peddling, a target audience that they want to pander to. Yes, EVERY news source will have a slant to left, right, or middle. My now adult children want to take a "family" vacation the summer of 2023, stay in a house on the Great Lakes for a week. All the kids, all the partners, all the grands, and the creators of this cluster; the ex and I. I have set down a couple of cast in concrete stipulations. One being NO FOX NEWS. The kids and partners are on board with that 110%. Haven't heard what the ex thinks of this, and I don't care.

I have cats because they are lower maintenance than dogs. I'd have to fence my yard or take the dog for frequent walks, cats can use a litter box and they never go outside. If or after I retire I will consider getting a small dog.

HippieChick58 replies on Feb 6, 2022:
@CuddyCruiser You're totally correct. One of my kids has chosen not to to have kids. She's 33. Her dad (white, trust fund, religious) is having hissy fits, and told her he's leaving more of his estate to her sisters because of that. She's the one that has the time to take him to his appointments and made sure he had groceries during the lock down. She has a baby, HIM. And she also takes care of me as needed. Two of my kids have kids, and it's tough at times. They frequently don't have any vacation time accrued because of time off to take care of sick kids. I see a tumultuous few years ahead as we wrest power back from the rich white morons.

When I got HAs 3ish years ago, my employer discovered my hearing loss and part of staying employed was to get HA. It made an amazing amount of difference. I don't "like" wearing HA, but I do like a) being employed, and b) actually being able to hear and understand those I'm talking to. @ASTRALMAX That tells me that I should be OK, I don't have a big house. It isn't more than 30 feet from the modem/router to the work computer, however the bedroom is pushing it. This confirms that I need to move the router/modem to a more central location. It also confirms that my ex was a horse's a** keeping the modem/router in the basement near his computer but not centrally located in the house for access from the kid's bedrooms and where I had my work room. His status has been confirmed many times, and mostly water under the bridge now.

Lets see, to go to college I would have required my dad's signature on the papers in 1976. He said he wouldn't sign because it might cost him money. I joined the Army to get the hell out of his house, he still had to sign the papers but he didn't have a good excuse not to. My daughter wants to get her tubes tied, she doesn't want children ever, but the doctor won't because she isn't married and someday her husband MIGHT want to have children with her... @TomMcGiverin My baseline is never, ever lie. Especially if it is something that can easily be exposed. If I find I've been lied to I'd never trust you again. You might try avoiding the question and see if that changes the outcomes, that is not telling a lie. I don't know if "hide" is the best word, just not bringing it to the forefront. When I was actively on dating sites, the issue was not so much whether there were kids connected, it was mostly political/religion. I won't hide that I'm liberal or non religious, and in this part of the cornbelt that's the death knell.

@TomMcGiverin OMG NO! Most women have experienced that their ex's kids are brats and very over protective of daddy, or afraid of daddy's bucks/attention being diverted. I know a woman married for 24 years (2nd marriage for both) her ex's daughter hated her for various imaginary reasons. This lady was sticking with her husband despite his several strokes and having to retire early. His daughter persuaded daddy that the wife wasn't supportive and he moved out just recently. With a ton of help, but he moved out. He's in a wheelchair. The lady was upset, and then she realized she didn't have to take care of him, deal with his reluctance to follow his treatment, and worry about him any longer, and it was a load off her mind. She is a stylish, very attractive woman, she will have no shortage of attention if she chooses to go back on the dating scene. I had a step mother when I was a teenager, my mom died when I was 14 and my dad remarried 6 months later. If that witch thought any of us were going to take care of her, she approached it the wrong way, and if Dad told her we'd be good he was sadly mistaken. She was a bitch from the get go, and alienated all of us. She is a huge part of the reason I joined the Army. She and Dad had a miserable marriage, they were married for nearly 25 years. All of this makes me very wary of men with kids, and most women I know are the same way.
This should be the slogan of mature dating.

@TomMcGiverin On paper that looks good. BUT, life isn't paper. Most women with kids are going to be involved with their kids, and if you don't want to be around her kids and possibly grands that could be an issue. I think my grands are adorable, and yes sometimes they're brats, but that is typical of small children. I'd be very hesitant to take someone not used to kids to meet my kids and grands. Kidlets aren't for everyone. There is so much more to life than money.

Today we're about diametrically opposed on sooo very many issues. My divorce was not caused by politics, but so many other things that go hand in hand with opposing political and life views. January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
