From long experience I know my life could be much worse. Yes, it could be better. I will be content if 2020 is at least as good as 2019 has been. Some of it is going to be attitude, some of it just work, and some will be chance. I am going to play the cards I've been dealt, I'm going to deal with my shit, change what I can or what needs to be changed, and never let the rotten bastards know when they've pissed me off.

I remember when I was a kid, my youngest brother was in the room I shared with my sister, and we figured out how old we'd be in the year 2000, and thought that was pretty darn old. Now 20 years later, just blows my mind how the world has changed, and not all for the better. I haven't spoken to that brother in several years.

Few details, but does claim to be a non believer. One post that is reasonably written, and my guess is copy paste. But it is interesting and fitting for this site. He is following 38 members, including me. Mostly following females, there is one guy in there. They are from all over the place, mostly US. I see many hallmarks of a scammer. I'm not ready to say flat out scammer, but bears watching.

Back when we lived on Military bases we'd see it so often, they wouldn't take the pets along. It broke my heart. My furbabies are my children with fur. Where I live they will live. The pets my kids have are my grandbabies as much as the human babies.My kitties are their fur siblings. The dog we had when the kids were growing up was the son I never gave birth to.

I work in customer service for the billing office of a hospital... when my caller wishes me a Merry Christmas, I usually respond with "Thanks and same to you." I usually use "Happy Holidays," I don't want to offend anyone and we deal with a multi-ethnicity population. And then back in the day I was a "Happy Christmas and Merry New Year" type of person. I can be contrary and I will be :) as long as it gets a chuckle.

I gave up on decorating because it is too much work. Last year I dragged everything out of storage and let the kids take what they wanted. This year I made a xmas tree quilt. So I do have a tree, the cats actually like to sleep on it and they can't destroy it. Next week I will fold it up and put it in a closet, and next year I will spend a week or two trying to remember which closet it is in.

My youngest lives further east, and we have the family Christmas at her house tomorrow. We're doing breakfast brunch and will open presents, and enjoy the babies. On Christmas day we will be back at her house for the granddaughter's 3rd birthday. This is later in the day, more Birthday dinner rather than Christmas. Then New Years day at oldest daughter's home, then my birthday 5 days later, then youngest's birthday 8 days after that. We started this busy season with Thanksgiving on Nov 28th and then oldest daughter's birthday on Dec. 5th. We're kinda tiring of the party season right now.

Jeebus, even with "good" insurance you can rack up some big bucks. Or you insurance company can dick you over, deny, and drag out payment. I talked to one woman that BCBS denied over $50,000 in infusion bills. Her kid has cancer. They blamed the hospital, we produced our records, we did EVERYTHING they told us to and told her we were negligent. She is about to go to collections, well partially she is so stressed out she can't even think about it. She has a kid with cancer and she's too stressed to deal with the bills. It has been escalated to my supervisor because she said the magic word, negligence. She will likely have to hire a lawyer and sue BCBS. I see and hear such amazing crap in my job.

I went back to work in March, but it has not gone well. Hard to answer phones in customer service when you can't understand the callers. I have some hearing loss. My supervisor still isn't pleased with my progress. I expected to be fired today, so I would have happily re-embraced retirement. She canceled the damn meeting. So it looks like for the forseeable future I'm still employed... I turn 62 in 18 days. Not like I'm counting. Ideally I'll be employed at least til I'm 65 if we still have Medicare.

I have posted more than one controversial post, and learned what a great sisterhood/brotherhood this site can have when there is controversy. I also got blocked by several people and did some of my own blocking. @RavenCT you always had my back. I grew up with mean older brothers, and my dad was no picnic. I no longer let other people define who I am or what I am worth. I don't let the opinions of people I don't know or respect influence my idea of my self worth. And this is a huge reason that I don't drink while my ex is around, and even rarely when my kids are around. Dirty laundry is just that, and your advice was spot on. Not only live in the present, but make peace with your past so it doesn't screw up your present. None of us have mastered perfection yet, and likely never will.
