My folks didn't do road trips, we were too poor for vacations. Made a trip to Colorado one year when my dad had a job with paid vacation, he worked at an ordinace plant during the Vietnam war. We made another trip to Colorado a few years later. My mom's sisters lived in the Denver area.

Yes some changes were made, but what I think is happening is we have some gremlins today. Not all of us are having the same ones, so it is kinda weird. I am exclusively on a laptop when on Ag.com. I think some of the phone users have another set of issues. When they change one thing it can affect others, and they usually get it figured out in a few days. We just have to be patient, and I know how much that sucks. So hang in there, I am fairly confident it will be fixed, soonish.

My transition from xian to atheist didn't have any effect on any relationships. My kids were already non believers, non of my sibs are believers or were simply social xians. They went to church for community, not because they believed. My parents were not strong believers, and they have already passed on. My non belief strengthened post divorce, so there was no fallout from the ex's family.

I would say I am a realist, I have been bumped and bruised by life. I've been clinically depressed. I don't think I look at myself with rose colored glasses. I have very few illusions. My experience is that things do tend to get better. My mantra is "this too shall pass" and of course that includes the good stuff too. I also acknowledge that life is a bitch, and dying takes a long time. However, life is what you make it. There are moments of absolute beauty and goodness in your life if you look for them.I think life has great meaning. I think it depends on what you choose to focus on. My outlook is we're here, sometimes it is going to be hard, and sometimes it is going to be amazing. Focus on the amazing stuff and deal with the hard crud when it comes. I think in the end there is more good than crap.

Last year at former employer I had "Easter Monday" off. That was really nice. This year, new employer, fewer paid holidays. Last year I worked for an insurance company, this year for a Not For Profit hospital. New employer is more aligned with my own values, but I sure do miss the days off.
