If you like the benefits of honey, take a look at this... not real honey
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 10, 2019:
I used to get my honey from a local farmer, I worked with his daughter. Now they have retired and moved up north, and I'm hoping to make the honey last for a long time.

We grew rhubarb in our yard when I was growing up. I thought it was fascinating. My grandparents had it in their yard and kept separating clumps and sharing it. Had I not moved so many times I'd have had rhubarb and asparagus.
Yardbird question, in case anyone here knows about such things.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 9, 2019:
I love my instapot. I cook all sorts of stuff in it. I often use it for batches of quinoa or other grains that I freeze up serving size and then add to meals as needed. I use it often when the kids are coming over for dinner. I made a Tangine in it once, the house smelled delicious for hours. I use it for a slow cooker, I have made yogurt in it, sweet potatoes, and hard boiled eggs to name a few. I use it for a steamer.

Do you meditate?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 9, 2019:
I started meditating about 7 months ago when I parted ways with a job that was very stressful. I think meditation has made me calmer and a better person. I know it usually helps me sleep better. I started a new job 5 weeks ago, I have been lax in my meditation practice, but I know I feel less anxiety when I do meditate. There is nothing religious about it, though when I was a practicing xian I did some meditation then. I don't consider it a religious practice. I use an app called Calm. It is good stuff.

HippieChick58 comments on Apr 8, 2019:
In my last job I had a short term disability claim of a woman who had spasmodic dysphonia. Her job had been marketing/giving presentations/training of some sort. It ended her career. She saw all sorts of specialists, and we had to communicate totally by email. I spoke to her on the phone a couple of times, and email was actually faster. It took her too long to coordinate breathing and talking, and she had no volume. She ended up being rolled to long term disability, it is likely she will have to file for SSDI.

Nope, not open to moving. My mom died when I was 14. My kids never got to know my mom, and we were a military family, my kids moved too often, they really didn't get to know any grandparents. I now have two grandchildren, and I want to see them grow up and be part of their lives. On Saturday two of my girls, my granddaughter, and I went for a walk, granddaughter is almost 2.5. She was so excited to see birds and butterflies. When it was time to leave and I walked to my car and her mom took her to her car, she cried because I wasn't going with them. Yeah, my heart is pretty tied up in that tiny little girl and her somewhat tinier cousin.

No, it was abuse, and trauma, and totally out of your control. Your shrink sounds like a bad fit to say the least. Other responders have given you some good advice. Ego vs Eco. Do both exist? Can we choose one? What do you think?
HippieChick58 comments on Apr 7, 2019:
The Ego chart puts man at the top, and women on the same level as whales. As humans we think we're the top of the pyramid, but the reality is all those below us will be just fine if we cease to exist. Some animals that humans have bred for food only may be gone with us, but the rest will manage. Some species will rebound nicely after humans stop poisoning the earth.

I have just read the comments and I have to add one more thought. I "get along reasonably well" with my ex husband. We see each other almost once a month for something involving our kids/grandkids. We are amicable. I can get along reasonably well with almost anyone, but that doesn't mean we should have a serious relationship. Take your time, get to know him before you start thinking long term. I spent too many years in an unhappy relationship to wish that on anyone.

I had some good conversations with my daughters, we made plans for several upcoming birthdays and Mother's day. I was able to open windows in my house which amused the cats which amused me, plus brought in some fresh air. I have all my breakfasts prepared for the next week, and the supplies for lunches next week are assembled.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
