Adventures in cooking.
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 20, 2019:
I like the smell of vanilla. If I started to list all my kitchen blunders I'd be writing a book. I've had plenty of oopsies that ended up straight into the trash can. I've pretty much slowed down on the amount I cook in recent years, being single and eating very simply does that for you.

I am amazed and overwhelmed at how much I love my grandchildren. I would do anything for them. Fun biology fact, when a baby girl is born all the eggs she will ever have are in her ovaries. In other words, when a woman is pregnant she is actually carrying the next two generations. So my grandbabies actually started in my body, they are literally part of me.

The owners of Trader Joe's and Aldi's are brothers, and Germans. From Wiki: Theodor Paul "Theo" Albrecht (German: [ˈalbʁɛçt]; 28 March 1922 – 24 July 2010)[1] was a German entrepreneur, who in 2010 was ranked by Forbes as the 31st richest person in the world, with a net worth of $16.7 billion.[2] He owned and was the CEO of the Aldi Nord discount supermarket chain. In the US he owned the Trader Joe's specialty grocery store chain. His brother Karl Albrecht owned the Aldi Süd discount supermarket chain. The two chains originally were a single family enterprise until a friendly division of assets in 1960. Aldi Süd operates the Aldi groceries in the United States. Aldi and Trader Joe's, while owned by the brothers, have separate and distinct ownership and operations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theo_Albrecht

I have had tinnitus for a very long time.
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 18, 2019:
Just the unknown. Looking back on it I see that my hearing loss may have created some problems with my last job. In my new job (started March) my supervisor noticed I didn't seem to understand something she said, and as she says, she's loud. So she was able to put the clues together and my office INSISTED I get my hearing tested. First they checked to see if I could get it done at the hospital. I work for a Children's Hospital. Um, no, as I am an adult they couldn't do that. So, yesterday I saw an ENT, had a test, and yes I have "not insignificant" hearing loss, or moderate. Oy vey! I was in the Army for 6 years, handled radios and weapons. So I'm also checking to see if I can get a service related disabilty. From my research the technology is really cool. I'm kinda excited.
Just picked up mine yesterday.

OOOOOhhhh, I just had my hearing tested today and I have a "not insignificant" hearing loss. Costco is booked up to until August 28th to be fitted. I was advised to check with the VA as it might be considered service related. My supervisor pulled me into a meeting with her boss on July 5th, and they told me that I **had **to have a hearing test because it was apparent to the Supervisor that I am not hearing well. I work in Customer Service for the billing department. They did some checking of what I needed (I work for a hospital, but hospital for children and they couldn't do the testing.) So mine are coming. I am starting a new group for those of us with hearing loss and hearing aids. I am waiting for Admin approval to get that going.

HippieChick58 comments on Jul 17, 2019:
I was the big sister to my sisters, however we have three older brothers. I only saw one of my brothers rather irregularly, but we'd invite him for Thanksgiving, he's about 50 miles away. I'd also take him to lunch when I was in his town. He'd stay at my house for Thanksgiving night, and I'd drive him to my daughter's house for the dinner. So a couple of years ago he chose to complain about my driving and a few other things by email, very condescending. I let him know he was a poor guest, never said thanks for what we did for him, and thank you I've been driving for years without your help. He told me to shove it and I haven't heard from him since. One of the sisters also noticed he never said thanks or any politeness. I used to be his emergency contact with the VA as he has no kids or SO. He ended up in the hospital and I didn't get a call. Fine, I'm to busy to worry about him.

22 Bible Verses on Welcoming Immigrants | Sojourners
HippieChick58 comments on Jul 8, 2019:
Most "christians" have never read all the bible. They might read select verses, but essentially they do what they think they have heard preached from the pulpit. Most of them are timing the sermon, it should not last more than 20 minutes, and after 17 minutes will be trying to catch the preacher's eye to signal him/her to wrap it up. And then there are the versions of the bible, many translations, no one can agree on what the ancient language actually means so they're putting their own spin on it.
And those are his friends!

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
