If you haven't found it already, I so highly recommend this blog for all things job related. AskAManager.org. The blogger is an HR person from way back, she gets questions from readers and answers them. She answers everything! And the blog is searchable. Resumes, cover letters, office cultures, office politics, management, job searches, lunch stealers, interviews, holiday disasters, salary negotiations. And frequently it is funnier than anything I've read during the day, especially some of the stories of lunch thieves. I read the blog every day. and miss it on the weekend when no new stuff is posted. She's been writing the blog for over 10 years, and even has a book out.

Deal Breakers for me: Too many toys, i.e. boats, motocycles, RVs, etc. One or two is fine, too many is not where I'm at. School age kids. If he has kids they should be in college or beyond that. Smokers. First of all it is yuck, and secondly, I've just taken a job where I will be tested for nicotine regularly. Even second hand smoke will show up, and I'd like to keep my job. NOT liking cats. Seriously how can you not love a cat? Addictions: be it drugs or alcohol or gambling or food. Having healthy relationships with all that stuff is a must. Intolerance - If he's racist, sexist, etc it won't work Conservative - I tried that once, didn't work. Ignorance - I read extensively, I love learning. I get excited by new information. I stopped counting holidays, because when I was married I had some horrible ones. So, just me, and I'm OK that way. I have my kids and grands, my cats, my hobbies, and I am good company to me. If I find someone it will be great, and if I don't it will still be great. Because I am great, having that relationship will not make me any different than I am now, except for having someone to blame stuff on besides the kitties. ;)
For those who may be sad and lonely today...

I had dinner with my kids, grandbabies, and my ex. My girls and I have dinner together every other Thursday, and we rotate homes. This week is the youngest's turn, and she lives with her dad. So, just another Thursday night in Omaha. The grandbabies were in rare fettle, cuddly and cute!! And yeah, the ex was there, we're civilized and amicable.
For those who find themselves single on this day, happy international book giving day.

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 14, 2019:
My late former father in law was a chemical engineer, he would save his urine and pour it on the compost heap. I asked him why he didn't just skip the measuring cup and go out to the heap, and he said, "neighbors." Apparently he would do it after dark, the measuring cup held the daylight hours output. TMI? ;)

So what do you think should happen to this girl?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 14, 2019:
She does not seem to have repented of her leaving nor of her support for the regime. She is looking out for the best interests of her baby, but she did make the decisions that led to the death of the previous babies. I don't think she should take priority over anyone else in any case. I pretty much feel like she made her bed, let her lie in it. What does the nation have to gain if they bring her back, and what risk does the nation take if they do? I don't see it as being a good bargain. Maybe humanitarian, but I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her. Is there anyone who is willing to take her in and be accountable for her? Does her family want her to come back?

I rode a funicular in Europe when my oldest daughter was about 18 months old. We were packed in like sardines! And if you've been around Germans, they think Americans are hung up on hygiene. What I remember most is that Sarah's pacifier went down the side of the mountain.... And when we got in the car she started to cry, I was carrying her. I had a spare pacifier in my coat pocket, but I couldn't easily reach it. You could feel the tension in the car as this little girl fussed. And when I finally pulled that plug out and gave it to her, you could feel the relief of the whole car. She fell asleep about 30 seconds later. I wish I remembered where that ride was.

What do you do for self care?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 11, 2019:
I have gotten good at self care. I journal, I meditate often twice a day. I do something for myself every day, something I enjoy that makes me feel better (aside from the journaling and meditation.) One of those is reading for pleasure. I also try to go to the gym as often as I can. I have been unemployed for a few months, and I have cleaned out my house. I have a bunch of eBay auctions going on right now, some are outrageously successful. But the decluttering is awesome. Yeah, the money helps. I stitch when I can. I've made 4 quilts in 5 months, and I have several smaller projects I work on from time to time. That and eating healthy is self care. I stopped eating sugar. I've lost over 30 pounds in the last 5 months. Part of what is being sold on eBay is the clothing that I shrank out of. My kitty girls are self care, they make me laugh and there is nothing so calming as a purring cat. I probably do other things, but the last thing I can think of is hot baths with Epsom Salts, Castor Oil, and organic baking soda, and sometimes other essential oils. I soak for at least 20 minutes. I have organic candles and soothing music on while I soak.
It's amazing..

I have dinner with my kids every other Thursday, and we take turns hosting. Our next get together is this Thursday, and my youngest is hosting. She, her baby, and her husband live in the house that my ex still owns and lives in that I lived in prior to divorce. So I get to have dinner with my ex on Vday. We're amicable, and I ignore lots of what he says. When he says grace I look at the ceiling. Of course, to see the granddaughter I'd have dinner with Satan himself. Two weeks from Thursday the kids will all be at my house, no ex :) For me it's just another Thursday.

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
