-3 out of 4 abortions were performed at ≤9 weeks’ gestation. Nearly all (92.2%) were performed in the first trimester
-Case Fatality Rate of legal abortions is rare: 0.44 deaths per 100,000 legal abortions. So, on average, 0.44 women die out of 100,000 abortions.
***Why do women get an abortion?***
The reasons are complex, as more than 60% of women report multiple reasons. More than 900 women in a U.S. study were asked why they got an abortion. The scientists categorized what they heard into 11 broad themes. They were:
1. Financial reasons (40%): “[It was] all financial, me not having a job, living off death benefits, dealing with my 14 year old son. I didn't have money to buy a baby spoon.”

That was caused by the several bullet holes that were drilled into him. I left the state in January 1984 with a 6 week old baby. I was so glad to get out of that state.

Her sisters were reluctant to discuss their health... and now they are all gone. I know I have lost some inches, my shortest daughter is now my height, which she enjoys except when she thinks about what that might mean for her future. My doctor has never suggested osteoporosis might be a concern, but it might be time to bring that up in discussion.

Now I have lived 18 years beyond my mother's life span. I have children that are established in their relationships and careers, and I have grandchildren. All of that was denied to my mom. Yes, getting old is a privlege. Never forget that. Not everyone gets to live a long life.

A childless friend of mine who is older than I am and has some health issues has great concerns for end of life issues. I have one kid that is already "momming" me, though she backs off fast enough when I give her "the look." I enjoy my kids, I created them. They do have their own lives. My kids grew up as military brats, we moved frequently and rarely lived near family. My kids have stayed in the area to give their kids the opportunity to get to know the rest of the family. I love it. I am close enough to help out when needed. And such as it is, I have my own life and my own activities. I think we have a good equilibrium.

She takes her dad to appointments as needed, and during the height of the pandemic was schlepping groceries to me and her dad. I enjoyed that because I saw her at least weekly that way, usually I see her every other week or so. But really, I prefer to get my own groceries, and other purchases. I grew up thinking I'd be a mom one day, and truthfully I enjoy my kids greatly. They are awesome people. And if you can't tell, I love being a grandmother as well. Delta Variant getting bad in Missouri. I'm fully vaccinated and no longer wear a mask but I have one in my car. If asked to wear it, I will. If this gets worse my corporation will again require us to mask up.

I was out and about today, Costco and other grocery shopping. I am fully vaccinated, and I still wore my mask. I am not taking chances. This is a Republican state and I don't trust my fellow citizens.

I don't live in fear. I listen to doctors and scientists and follow their advice. I live with respect for the threats around us. I also lock my car doors whenever I leave my car. I also lock my house at night and when I'm gone. I stop at stop signs and stop lights. I wear seatbelts and my car has airbags. As a kid I went to the library every weekend and spent hours there. The library was within walking distance and my stepmother would not have been caught dead in one, so I got a respite from her. I don't think I ever saw her read a book or newspaper. Or a recipe. The library was my haven.

I made a quilt for the grandson when he moved into his "big boy" bed. His mom is planning for him to take that quilt with him when he moves into a dorm.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
