Happie Hippie Tuesday!!!!! Its snowing in NY -inside for the day.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 12, 2019:
Omaha, NE. Upper 20s. We had snow yesterday, the sun is out today, talk about glare! I have been to the gym, and now I'm catching up w/FB and Ag. And then I'm going to fill out paperwork for the new job I just accepted.

Being told how sexy you are in the first few messages. What do people think about this?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 12, 2019:
When someone hasn't met me in person I really don't want to hear it. He doesn't really "know" me. I take it as just empty words, usually from someone who is going to ask me for money in the next few messages.

FUNICULAR.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 12, 2019:
I rode a funicular in Europe when my oldest daughter was about 18 months old. We were packed in like sardines! And if you've been around Germans, they think Americans are hung up on hygiene. What I remember most is that Sarah's pacifier went down the side of the mountain.... And when we got in the car she started to cry, I was carrying her. I had a spare pacifier in my coat pocket, but I couldn't easily reach it. You could feel the tension in the car as this little girl fussed. And when I finally pulled that plug out and gave it to her, you could feel the relief of the whole car. She fell asleep about 30 seconds later. I wish I remembered where that ride was.

What do you do for self care?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 11, 2019:
I have gotten good at self care. I journal, I meditate often twice a day. I do something for myself every day, something I enjoy that makes me feel better (aside from the journaling and meditation.) One of those is reading for pleasure. I also try to go to the gym as often as I can. I have been unemployed for a few months, and I have cleaned out my house. I have a bunch of eBay auctions going on right now, some are outrageously successful. But the decluttering is awesome. Yeah, the money helps. I stitch when I can. I've made 4 quilts in 5 months, and I have several smaller projects I work on from time to time. That and eating healthy is self care. I stopped eating sugar. I've lost over 30 pounds in the last 5 months. Part of what is being sold on eBay is the clothing that I shrank out of. My kitty girls are self care, they make me laugh and there is nothing so calming as a purring cat. I probably do other things, but the last thing I can think of is hot baths with Epsom Salts, Castor Oil, and organic baking soda, and sometimes other essential oils. I soak for at least 20 minutes. I have organic candles and soothing music on while I soak.
It's amazing..

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 11, 2019:
I have dinner with my kids every other Thursday, and we take turns hosting. Our next get together is this Thursday, and my youngest is hosting. She, her baby, and her husband live in the house that my ex still owns and lives in that I lived in prior to divorce. So I get to have dinner with my ex on Vday. We're amicable, and I ignore lots of what he says. When he says grace I look at the ceiling. Of course, to see the granddaughter I'd have dinner with Satan himself. Two weeks from Thursday the kids will all be at my house, no ex :) For me it's just another Thursday.

We hated it because it was so poorly planned. It is held up as an example across the nation as to what NOT to do.

I don't know that I'm downsizing, but I'm doing my "death cleaning." Swedish Death Cleaning, it's a thing. Basically getting rid of stuff you don't want/need so your kids don't have to. I have many eBay auctions running right now. I have lost almost 40 pounds and I have turned over my wardrobe, so all the clothing that is still in good shape is being sold or has been sold on eBay. The stuff not so good has gone to charity. I've cleaned closets and found stuff I haven't touched in 9 years. It has been sorted and sold or donated. Except for the light bulbs. I have 25 60W LED light bulbs. I have no idea why I have so many. I have a bone china teacup collection, and some other pieces of china. Most will be sold eventually. At least one piece will be going to the post office on Monday. I hate running garage sales, and it is bitterly cold here, NO ONE has or goes to garage sales in winter in Omaha. eBay lets me do it from home in my pajamas as I have time. I have some pieces of furniture that will go to Goodwill or other charity, and I have a large piece I will be offering on Freecycle. Less is more.

I strongly suggest you ignore the compatibility scores. It doesn't tell you if you will have any chemistry with that person or not. I am acquainted with a local guy who is 100% compatibility score. We've dated previously, and we belong to the same Humanist group, I see him pretty often. He's a nice guy, but we're not interested in each other, no chemistry at all. Another local guy I know well, 81% score, and no interest in him as a boyfriend. Compatibility scores tell you how many superficial things you have in common, they have no way of calculating if there is going to be any attraction. People are far more complex than any compatibility score.

Call in and explain your situation. I had just come home from the hospital with a newborn after a C-section that I was nursing, and I was handed a summons for jury duty. I told the deputy what the situation was and he followed up on it and I was excused. Or if you have to go in for a day make sure you express opinions that would not be acceptable in the case, as in adamant against the death penalty, or what ever, or that you have knowledge of or know the individuals in the case. I knew a lady who was called for jury duty. She had shared a cabin with the defendant at summer camp 20 years before. She was excused.

We don't go door to door trying to win converts. We don't visit the airports handing out leaflets. Atheism as far as I can tell sucks at being a religion.

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
