What could the parents of shooters have done to prevent school shootings?
HippieChick58 replies on May 28, 2022:
@yvilletom Possibly. Not knowing about the shooters upbringing it's hard to say, however from past shooting there were breakdowns in the family life in some cases. in many of the school shootings the shooters have been bullied or not had a good home life. I haven't heard anything about the recent shooting yet. However, it seems reasonable that well adjusted people do not shoot up elementary schools. It was possibly mental illness, or family dysfunction. But the one common denominator is that the shooters had access to weapons and ammunition.

I saw through the BS after a while and totally left about 10 years ago. As a family we did get some good support from the church, but ex went totally brain dead and he is still ultra conservative xian, the kids mostly turned out non religious.

The parents need to make sure their kids don't have access to guns and ammunition. They need to know what is going on in their kids' lives. Yes, take jr to the firing range and let him play commando or whatever it is they do, but then lock those weapons and ammo up at home. The parents take a huge amount of responsibility for this tragedy.

I used to hear Morse code in my sleep, I never tried to decipher it. I still know most of it, and as of a few years ago I would have been able to transcribe it. I haven't tried it in a few years. I suck at sending it because I never got any practice with that. We received only, or more strictly speaking we eavesdropped and copied. I always thought I should have had sons, because Boy Scouts used to have a merit badge for Morse code. My ex and father of my children was an Eagle scout. Alas (or luckily), we had only girls.

I will continue to take precautions because I'm no longer a spring chicken, don't remember if I ever really was, and I'm not willing to take that risk. I continue to wear masks when I'm out and about. Next week I start two weeks of training in person at work. I have been waiting for this training for several months, and I just don't want to wait any longer. Previous training was done remote via Teams. (There is a raise that comes with the training, and it was supposed to have been done 5 months ago.) I am going to do it, just slightly under duress, I'd much rather not be in person. I will be vocal if there is not enough social distancing. The offices have been closed at least three times in the past year when someone has tested positive for Covid. I have a new grandbaby due in 9 weeks. I'd like to be around to see her and the rest of the grands grow up, so I'm not happy about putting myself at risk in any way. (OK, except driving, in a previous life I must have been a race car driver.) But WFH I don't have to drive :) I have a good supply of masks and no I won't take it off except to eat, and if necessary I will eat my lunch in my car.
