This is scary! Did anyone have anything like this to play on?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 25, 2019:
There was an old country school near the town where I grew up. We used to drive country roads in the early summer looking for wild asparagus, and when we were near this school the folks would let us play on the playground They had a swingset that was the tallest I had ever seen. I am sure the slid was at least 15 feet tall. And OMG metal slide in the summer sun was hotter than blazes. And no gravel or shredded tires underneath, it was hard packed dirt. Kids had to be tough back then.
Artistic bathroom. What do you think?

Even if everyone went vegan right this minute the planet is still in peril. Until big business stops cranking out crap we're all going to perish with the planet. Vegan might help, but in the long run it is not enough to turn the balance. If you come out as a militant vegan you will alienate more people than you convert.

I've been noticing cars slip sliding away on my street, so I am waiting for a snow plow to come along before I decide to go out. We had a hell of a storm yesterday with rain, followed by freezing rain, followed by snow and wind. What a mess!! I had my second TB tine test on Friday and I need to stop by future employer to have it read sometime today or tomorrow morning. Yes second TB tine test as per CDC guidelines for health care workers. I will have limited to no exposure to patients, but that is their policy. They serve the most fragile of the population so I am happy to follow the guidelines. And besides, now it is documented that I will not be taking any germs to the grandbabies.

What kind of "hidden agenda" do people have when they're searching for somebody to date?
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 24, 2019:
I don't hide my "agenda", I pretty much put it right out there. I have adult kids and grandkids that are the world to me. If you can't deal with that then we won't suit. And cats. If you don't want to live with cats, pass me by. Non smoking, I am plump but active. 420 friendly, non smoking. I read lots of books. I don't feel like I have time to waste weeding out the deal breakers, so I put them right up front. I want transparency and full disclosure.
Bernie Sanders’s biggest strength for 2020 is his ability to thrive on chaos - The Washington Post
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 24, 2019:
Bernie Sanders has spent the past two years losing steam. He ended the 2016 primary with 43 percent of the national vote, but now he’s polling below 20 percent nationally. His preferred candidates generally performed poorly in down-ballot Democratic primaries in 2018. And, unlike Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney and other past second-place finishers, he hasn’t been able to scare off politicians like Elizabeth Warren who might try to compete for his voters. But Sanders just might have an advantage that some of his opponents don’t: He’s well suited to capitalize on chaos. Sanders might not be able to win a one-on-one fight with a well-known, establishment-backed, consensus-building candidate like Clinton, but his particular mix of strengths and weaknesses could make him a solid candidate in a completely bananas multiway brawl. Sanders outperformed expectations in 2016, but he was, in some ways, always destined to lose. Clinton started the race with a better organization, more backing from the establishment, a longer history with the Democratic Party and more experience running a presidential campaign. Sanders built a solid coalition of millennials, progressives and anti-Clinton hard-liners, but that’s not enough to get to 50 percent plus one in a somewhat ideologically diverse and increasingly racially diverse party. Clinton could have tried to bury him with negative ads or roll out more opposition research, but she never felt threatened enough to do that. She had the luxury of taking the high road because she was always winning. And if she had really started losing or was disqualified by something like a health event anytime before Super Tuesday, another consensus Democrat like Joe Biden probably could have jumped in, gotten the party’s support and won the nomination. The 2020 primary could become that sort of clean two-person contest, but right now it doesn’t look like that. It looks more like the 2016 Republican primary, where everybody is running and nobody is the heir apparent. And Sanders has a few advantages in that sort of an environment. Unlike most of his competitors, Sanders has a real and established base. He’s currently in second place in the polls, and it’s safe to assume that at least some of these people are part of the 43 percent he had last time around. And he could grow his 2020 base by simply targeting some of the people who voted for him last time around. Having a base is a huge advantage in a crowded primary. These sorts of races sometimes have a boom-and-bust feel to them — an unknown candidate grabs some media coverage, catches fire and then withers under scrutiny or just flames out as voters move on. That happened to Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Herman Cain at various points in ...

I had a number that was entered under my Son In Law's name, that was not my SIL. (My SIL had done some work in my kitchen and replaced my roof.) I texted some pictures of problems with my kitchen ceiling to him at that number and I got a reply that he was not Mike but Cornelius, and asked who Mike was. I replied "my contractor." Cornelius then asked if I wanted to meet. I kinda sorta remember a Cornelius, but chances are if I didn't have the right name I wasn't interested in going out with him. Everyone that I had a number for that I don't care to see again has been not only deleted but blocked. And I get texts frequently from weird numbers, but many are political messages. I'm sure I'm going to regret that as well.

Bumped into an ex of mine today.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 22, 2019:
It isn't pathetic. I've been divorced for 10 years, we have adult children and now grandchildren. We both live in the same town, and one of the kids even lives with him, and the kids like to do "family" celebrations. I see my ex not less than once every 8 weeks, but in reality it works out to about once a month. The good part is the fond memories have been identified and labeled. We created some awesome children who turned into amazing adults. I see him often enough that I am pretty well immune to his pettiness and obtuseness, although I still am amazed that I put up with his shit for as long as I did. 5 months is just the blink of an eye. 5 months is just long enough for the hurt to have scabbed over, and now the scab has been pulled off and the wound is exposed again. The good news is the healing will be quicker this time. When you think of her make an effort to think of the bad stuff,t he stuff that caused the end of the relationship. That will bring healing quicker each time. Yes, it is hard, but your not pathetic at all. You're totally human, and being human is hard.

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 22, 2019:
One of my son-in-laws had cats when he met my daughter, the daughter I almost disowned because "she did not like cats as much as dogs." LOL! Now she is the first defender of the female cat that they have, whereas her husband is the male cat's defender. THe cats are Charles and Elizabeth, and let me tell you I love cats, but Elizabeth is a bitch. One of my uncles also was a cat lover. He had 4 cat for a long time, 3 were exotic breeds and one was just a cat. The "just a cat" was the most fun of all of them.

I mean this as kindly as I can, but I've never seen such a prolonged discussion of the hair of a male. I've always been told that women are way too hung up on their hair, and you have just busted that gender myth all to hell, which I appreciate. I think I'd kill for your hair. My hair is fine, thin, and curls like a damn poodles. It grows to just about to reach my shoulder and stops, and frizzes. The only thing I like about my hair is I don't have much gray, far less than my younger sisters. I had a friend that was upset because his daughter dyed her hair blue. I told him first to love her and remind himself as often as needed that hair grows. Whatever hairstyle she has now is temporary. So Kasmian, enjoy your hair, play with it, flaunt it, obsess over it or not. I'll be over here admiring it and cursing the fates that gave me my mop.

HippieChick58 comments on Feb 20, 2019:
A U.S. Coast Guard lieutenant and self-identified white nationalist was arrested after federal investigators uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition in his Maryland home that authorities say he stockpiled to launch a widespread domestic terrorist attack targeting politicians and journalists. Christopher Paul Hasson called for “focused violence” to “establish a white homeland” and said, “I am dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on the earth,” in one of his letters that contemplated launching a biological plague, according to court records filed in U.S. District Court in Maryland. Though court documents do not detail a specific planned date for an attack, the government said he had been amassing supplies and weapons since at least 2017, developed a spreadsheet of targets that included House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and searched the Internet using phrases such as “best place in dc to see congress people” and “are supreme court justices protected.” “The defendant intends to murder innocent civilians on a scale rarely seen in this country,” the government said in court documents filed this week, arguing that Hasson should stay in jail awaiting trial. Hasson, 49, of Silver Spring, is expected to appear before a judge for a detention hearing in federal court in Greenbelt at 1 p.m. Thursday. Hasson was arrested on charges of possessing illegal weapons and drugs on Friday, but the government said those charges are the “proverbial tip of the iceberg.” Officials with the U.S. attorney’s office in Maryland outlined Hasson’s alleged plans to spark chaos and destruction in court documents, describing a man obsessed with neo-fascist and neo-Nazi views. “Please send me your violence that I may unleash it onto their heads,” Hasson wrote in a letter that prosecutors said was found in his email drafts. “Guide my hate to make a lasting impression on this world.” A magistrate judge ordered the federal public defender’s office to represent Hasson; that office declined to comment Wednesday. Hasson has been working at the U.S. Coast Guard headquarters in Washington since 2016, according to court documents filed by prosecutors. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps between 1988 to 1993 and in the Army National Guard for about two years in the mid-1990s, the filings state. Agents with the FBI field office in Baltimore and the Coast Guard Investigative Service arrested Hasson on Friday, FBI Baltimore spokesman Dave Fitz confirmed. A Coast Guard spokesman, Lt. Cmdr. Scott McBride, said Wednesday that Hasson no longer works at Coast Guard headquarters. “An active duty Coast Guard member stationed at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., was arrested last week on illegal ...

I don't think life sucks. I think life is difficult, and sometimes/often frustrating, but life is still good. Now cancer sucks big time. Chemo is a choice and it is one I think I will not choose, but that depends on type of cancer, etc, which is a bridge I will cross only if I absolutely have to. But for now, one hug from SamSam and life is beautiful. Everyone needs a SamSam in their life.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
