A salute to everyone who spends this day alone for whatever reason!
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 23, 2018:
I spent the majority of the day alone, and kept quite busy. I joined my daughter, her partner, his family, and (cough) my ex for dinner at daughter's partner's house. It was a fabulous meal and I'd walk across glass to spend time with any of my kids. I'd even tolerate my ex's presence.

HippieChick58 comments on Nov 23, 2018:
I was in Kindergarten. The principal came into the classroom and told us the president had been shot. He was crying, the teacher started crying, and a whole bunch of 5 years olds got totally freaked out!! So, I got home and the parents were crying. My dad NEVER cried. More freak out that went on for days. And then I noticed the calendar had only ONE MORE PAGE on it, and I was totally convinced the world was ending. A few days later my mom put up a new calendar.... I asked how she could do that, and I learned about calendars. I was so relieved!! I'm convinced my mom thought I'd lost my mind. I think that was the defining moment of my childhood.
I sure do remember these.

Anybody cooking tonight?
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 21, 2018:
We had a family Thanksgiving on Sunday. Tomorrow my daughter and her partner will have his family over, and my daughter invited me, and also her dad. My daughter will have worked out a timeline for when every step needs to be done, she did not get that organizational skill from me. I will be taking a side dish, sweet potatoes, cranberries, and apples with a sweetish crunchy topping. It is quite good, really, and vegan as some of the partner's family keeps vegan. I am sure there will be enough food for half an army.

HippieChick58 comments on Nov 21, 2018:
I am contributing a vegan side dish to my daughter's Thanksgiving meal. I needed a few groceries and my preferred grocery store is close to my gym. So after my gym visit I made a quick stop. I can't say I was cool, though it was pretty cold outside. But I was in and out and on my way pretty quickly. I kept my coat zipped up so hopefully my sweat was not pungent.

Ladies, what is the first you notice upon meeting a man for the first time?
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 21, 2018:
One of the first things I notice is the teeth. Not sure why. If the teeth are not cared for, ewwww. They shouldn't be snow white, that is just not natural. It's ok if they're crooked, not everyone could afford or really needed orthodontics. Teeth won't be a deal breaker, but it is something that gets my attention.
Happy Thanksgiving, have fun and let the games begin.
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 21, 2018:
We had our family Thanksgiving on Sunday. Tomorrow my middle daughter and her partner are hosting the partner's family, and daughter has included me, and her dad too. So twice this week I get to spend time with my ex, however I will bear it for our daughter. Some of the partner's family is vegan, so I am making a vegan side dish to add to the table. There will be booze available, and it is late enough in the day that the ex should not hang around too long. I don't think there will be any little kids. The "kids" (partner's nephews) are 20ish, and beautiful specimens of young manhood, and vegans.
It's taken me a while to post these photos.

You could be ticketed for leaving your car unsecured and your sponsor (military member) would have to have a discussion with his commander. I am careful to lock my doors where I live now. Most often they're all locked, I usually come and go by the garage with an automatic opener.

Why Not Date Men That Have Already Grown Up? Not Everyone Has a Peter Pan Personality.
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 19, 2018:
I have rarely met a guy that gave me an urge to tell them to grow the hell up. In fact I can think of two that I have dated in the past 9 years, and it only took a few dates before we or I realized it wasn't a viable relationship. This guy above, yeah he's pretty, I can't say he looks grown up, just doesn't ring my chimes. Why would you continue a relationship ship with a man who isn't grown up? I generally feel that when I meet men they're telling me and showing me who they are. They are as grown up as they are going to get. If they aren't "grown up" enough or otherwise suitable for me, I'm not going to beg them to change, and I'm not going to change for them. I'm going to walk away (or run if he is bad enough). The only time you can change a man (or a woman for that matter) is when they are in diapers.

HippieChick58 comments on Nov 18, 2018:
I had Thanksgiving with my family today. Oldest daughter and husband hosted, and they fixed turkey. I brought a dish that was really simple and delish. Sweet potatoes, apples, and cranberries, with just a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar, and coconut oil baked until tender. Thursday I have a second dinner with other family and a request that I make something vegan as several of the guests are vegan, so I will make that again.
‘Nothing on this page is real’: How lies become truth in online America - The Washington Post
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 18, 2018:
By Eli Saslow November 17 at 7:40 PM NORTH WATERBORO, Maine — The only light in the house came from the glow of three computer monitors, and Christopher Blair, 46, sat down at a keyboard and started to type. His wife had left for work and his children were on their way to school, but waiting online was his other community, an unreality where nothing was exactly as it seemed. He logged onto his website and began to invent his first news story of the day. “BREAKING,” he wrote, pecking out each letter with his index fingers as he considered the possibilities. Maybe he would announce that Hillary Clinton had died during a secret overseas mission to smuggle more refugees into America. Maybe he would award President Trump the Nobel Peace Prize for his courage in denying climate change. A new message popped onto Blair’s screen from a friend who helped with his website. “What viral insanity should we spread this morning?” the friend asked. The more extreme we become, the more people believe it,” Blair replied. He had launched his new website on Facebook during the 2016 presidential campaign as a practical joke among friends — a political satire site started by Blair and a few other liberal bloggers who wanted to make fun of what they considered to be extremist ideas spreading throughout the far right. In the last two years on his page, America’s Last Line of Defense, Blair had made up stories about California instituting sharia, former president Bill Clinton becoming a serial killer, undocumented immigrants defacing Mount Rushmore, and former president Barack Obama dodging the Vietnam draft when he was 9. “Share if you’re outraged!” his posts often read, and thousands of people on Facebook had clicked “like” and then “share,” most of whom did not recognize his posts as satire. Instead, Blair’s page had become one of the most popular on Facebook among Trump-supporting conservatives over 55. “Nothing on this page is real,” read one of the 14 disclaimers on Blair’s site, and yet in the America of 2018 his stories had become real, reinforcing people’s biases, spreading onto Macedonian and Russian fake news sites, amassing an audience of as many 6 million visitors each month who thought his posts were factual. What Blair had first conceived of as an elaborate joke was beginning to reveal something darker. “No matter how racist, how bigoted, how offensive, how obviously fake we get, people keep coming back,” Blair once wrote, on his own personal Facebook page. “Where is the edge? Is there ever a point where people realize they’re being fed garbage and decide to return to reality?” Blair’s own reality was out beyond the shuttered curtains of his office: a three-bedroom home in the forest of ...

Jan 2019. Quilt for 2 year old granddaughter, just learning her colors. Her mama wanted it to be a rainbow quilt.

January 13, 2021 My newest and smallest grandchild. She arrived 5 weeks early and is now 2.5 weeks old and is less than 7 pounds. I've never held such a small baby before. She is quite perfect and very amazing. I love being a Grammy.
