I was coughing when I read that, damn I almost choked!! However, I feel your vibe!! My radio station switched to an all Christmas music format on Friday. I "knew" it was coming, they have done it for years. But I was still pissed. I have now switched stations, and it will likely be March or so before I switch back to the one I left. In a well ordered universe there would be no mention or celebration of Christmas until at least after Thanksgiving, and IF I had my way it would be not earlier than December 1st. Don't even get me started on Black Friday starting on Thursday. NO, BAD. I do not shop for Christmas gifts on Black Friday. One year I broke my phone on Thanksgiving day and I shopped for a new phone on Friday, but that was a necessity. I don't see commericals at home because I don't have cable TV.

My dad used to do the laundry. I had three older brothers, and he would do all the t-shirts and tighty whitey's in one load. Then my sister and I would have to fold them, sort them, and put them away. I have no sons, and I did their dad's clothes with mine. Until my girls started living with a male, I'm pretty sure they never did laundry or folded underwear for another person. I hated it!! Let the boys do their own darn clothes! I taught my girls to do their own laundry when they were about 10.

For those of us who like to grow flowers, are there any colors you prefer not to grow?
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 12, 2018:
I prefer pinks, purples, blues, but I'm good with almost any colors. My least favorite would be orange. You won't find much orange (if any) in my house, closet, or yard. My ex did not like white flowers either, I never understood that one. It's not like the whole yard is in white, but a few whites add to the whole.

Human Connection is fundamentally difficult.
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 12, 2018:
I am not someone who has lots of friends. I tend to like many things that are solitary, and I am not one for parties or big groups of people. I have a few good friends, my family, and lots of acquaintances. I generally have something in common with those who are friends, as it is for all of us. Many of my friends are females my age that sew, or have grandchildren, or read, or have cats, or are Humanists and Liberals. (I just read how boring my life is!) In my area, and in my age group, most of the single men are not liberal, or humanists, or (sadly) readers, or stitchers. I figured out a few years ago that finding a partner in my area is going to be extremely difficult. I'm OK with that. I'm not making an effort to look, but I do make an effort to get out of the house and participate in activities where there might be or are single men. I know some really great Humanists men, most of them are married and I like their wives too. So, I'm getting on with my life, if I connect with someone it will be a plus. If I don't, I'm ok with that. I'm not sitting at home waiting for him to show up, I've got 19 books and 3 quilts to finish, and grandchildren to spoil. Sometimes I don't know if I have time for a relationship, but I can tweak things a bit.
For sure that happened!
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 12, 2018:
Although this is funny, I had a cat that had swallowed yarn that got stuck in her intestines. Surgery was required. This was before she became my kitty. Supposedly they also spayed her while she was at the Vet. Well, as I was rushing to get to work one morning, she was giving birth in my closet. I had to miss the miracle of birth to avoid an Article 15. Still pisses me off, the Army not the cat.

401 pm, pouring down raining, cold and raw. Getting dark already. Why do people live in the north?
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 12, 2018:
Everybody has to live somewhere. South has got too much heat and humidity, and skeeters the size of B52s. I live here because at some point in history German immigrants were offered cheap land and my grandparents ended up here to farm that cheap land. Though I have lived elsewhere including Europe and Japan, I ended up 50 miles from where I was born.

I wish I could snap my fingers and make anxiety go away.
HippieChick58 comments on Nov 12, 2018:
All the damn time. The best non medication I've found for anxiety is meditation. I am amazed at how much better I'm sleeping and dealing with the uncertainty in my life. (Yeah, I call it "retirement" but it is actually unemployment and I'm really not in a hurry to find a job, but money, y'know.) I've dealt with anxiety for years, and years. I've done meds, they had some interesting side effects. I have an app on my phone called "CALM". It was recommended to my daughter by her psychiatrist when she was having panic attacks just prior to, during, and after childbirth. CALM is a guided meditation, and wow. It helps so much!

HippieChick58 comments on Nov 11, 2018:
When my youngest daughter was 4, and her sisters 7 and 11 we got a Golden Retriever puppy. His puppy and adolescent days were hard, but he grew into the BEST DOG EVER! I loved training him. My troubled and troublesome child told him all her secrets, he was better than a therapist for her and I so wish I could have planted a recorder on him. He was the son I never gave birth to, and the best brother the girls ever had. I'd like to get another dog one day, but not something that big.

She stopped, looked at the yard, and at her feet, and at me standing in the door. It was like I could see the wheels turning. She bolted back for the door where I was, enough of that cold white stuff! She found the nearest warm surface and cuddled up.
