Mother Nature has a wicked sense of humor. We've got snow, sleet, and rain; and temperatures are below freezing. So the Friday morning commute was a nightmare. I tried to go to my gym, but traffic was crap. Then after I got online I saw my yoga class is cancelled as well. I am thankful I'm not dealing with injuries or property damage this morning, and I've got plenty of stuff to keep me busy at home.

I wish I could sleep this good. ?

I avoid TV. I turned the cable off during the Iowa Primaries. I saw Ted Cruz in my living room and I was DONE! All the news I get is from websites and sometimes I don't check out the news for days. I also hear the news from the radio once in a while. I frequently have anxiety issues. I'm currently unemployed, and sadly can't retire yet. And I will be needing to replace my car, dishwasher, and possibly refrigerator. I deal with all that by getting exercise and meditating. There is an app for your phone my daughter's psychiatrist recommended when she had some postpartum issues. The app is called CALM. The first 7 days are free. Good meditations. I meditate daily, and sometimes more often. It has greatly improved the quality of my sleep.

I cannot give blood in the US because I lived in Germany in the 1980s and therefore could (in theory) be a carrier of Mad Cow disease. Moving from level 7 to level 8 took me a couple of months. Going from 8 to 9 took many months. I've been here 11 months, made level 9 about 3 weeks ago, I think. There are some that spend way more time here and post more than I do and have progressed more quickly. However, at the rate I'm going, I will be level 10 in about 3 years. I am OK with that, I am here because I find value in the relationships and conversations here.

I have had a plan in the past, but it was nebulous and very circumstantial. I knew that I had too much to live for and I'd never cause that much pain to those I loved.

Have you tried meditation? There is a great phone app called CALM that has guided meditations. It is excellent, I am sleeping much better since I've been meditating regularly. I'm still alone and self sufficient, but calmer about it.

I was at a Book Club meeting today, we are all secular Humanists, two of the members are also a members of Ag.com. Someone asked the question "have we all voted yet?" and we all had. Pretty much broadly we all voted a straight Democratic ticket, this is a group in Eastern Nebraska/Western Iowa, conservative central.

I was wearing my agnostic.com shirt in my gym. An older lady (I'm 60, so older to me is 80ish, she was tiny and appeared frail) approached me and asked if my shirt meant that I don't believe "in our lord and savior Jesus Christ?" I told her that No, I didn't believe or talk to imaginary friends in the sky. I thanked her for asking and wished her a good day, and headed off down the walking track. I didn't want the poor dear having a heart attack on me!
