I am jealous!! On Sunday I don't go to my gym, sorta kinda my rest day. However, as I was driving home past the local mall, I decided to take a stroll through the mall. I had forgotten why I hate malls on weekends, and learned why mall walking will not work for me. There are too many people, it is cold here, so I had my coat, and I had a purse. So I'm schlepping all my stuff through crowds. Not the best walk I've ever had. I envy you your awesome location. And your weather.

I have done intermittent fasting for several months. I lost some weight really quickly which did not have the desired effect of losing fat, so I cut back on it. I didn't find it hard to do, I rarely noticed that I was hungry, and when I felt hungry I'd drink a large glass of water. I'd usually start the fast after a big dinner, and fast until the next dinner time. My advice is before you start fasting get sugars out of your diet. Sugar increases your appetite. Go sugar free for about a week, and then stay sugar free. Going sugar free has helped me lose over 50 pounds and keep it off so far for over 5 years.

I was raised that christianity was the default value. We were christian because we weren't jewish or muslim or anything else. So I grew up with the idea that when you died (unless you were a horrible person) you went to heaven. And all those who died before you were there in heaven waiting for you. My mom died when I was 14, and I lost a baby when I was 26. The thought that my baby was in heaven with my mom was very comforting. After baby died I became a really good Xian, well educated for a lay person. I had trouble with the notion of a loving god as I went along, the bible is full of crappy stuff. Years later when I came to the conclusion that religion is bunk I went through a period of mourning for the loss of belief, and it was like losing my mom and my baby again. I know that their atoms are all around, they are part of the universe, but it isn't as comforting.

I meditate more often than I do yoga, both are very good at releasing tension and creating relaxation. When I don't meditate or do yoga I have 100 monkeys jumping around in my head. After yoga/meditation the number is greatly reduced. I like to notice that the air I am breathing in feels cooler than the air that gets breathed out. And yes, it helps me to count. I use an app called Calm, it is a guided meditation. It is keeping me sane.

Last night I pulled out the laser pointer and played with the kitties for a few minutes before going to bed. My purpose was to tire their little butts out so I could trim their nails. It worked. My dining room has the table pushed to the side so we had a open space to play in, I don't think I've had the laser out since I got the baby more than a year ago. We will have to do that more often :)

I am frugal, was pretty much brought up that way. But I've refined it. I was brought up with the saying "Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without." However, I had many years of abundance and got away from that. Being on my own and unemployed for a while I got back into stretching the dollars as much as I could. I make my own Peanut Butter, I cook from scratch, I sell what I don't need, I grow my own when I can, I keep my house cooler in winter and warmer in summer, I plan my trips, I use the library instead of buying books, etc. I enjoy it.

Now we know why she has the smile! ?
