I was married to a religious conservative for too many years. He was (operative word being was) one of the smartest guys I'd ever met, had great critical thinking skills. He was also a condescending dolt. I believe he chose to turn off his critical thinking skills to become more religious and more (so much more) Republican and conservative. It blows my mind now. Now I operate from the point of view of life is too damn short. I like to discuss politics, so if I am going to spend a great deal of time with someone, I don't want discord. I think Republicans/conservatives have sold their souls and sold out the country.

My late former father in law was a chemical engineer for Monsanto for his entire professional career. He saw what they were doing with animal feed and it concerned him. I think he would be disgusted by them now, he was pretty aggravated with them at the end of his career. They made him "retire" early, and then asked him to come back as a contractor. But he managed it well and they paid him very well, and that paid for my kids' college educations. However, I do not use any Monsanto products ever.

For a class I had to give a presentation on a disease, I chose Herpes, and I had a slide with a picture of a penis with a Herpes lesion on it. That is what comes to mind when I see dick pics. Unsolicited dick pics are annoying, I don't want that on my phone where a snoopy grandchild could find it.

I am fasting today. I feasted tooooo much for the last few weeks with holidays and birthdays. So last night I finished my lunch from yesterday, and my next meal will be dinner tonight. Then I will be back to my normal eating plan. I have meditated today, and been to the gym. Also had a job interview, the first step in the process. I am making changes in my home to make it better fit my needs, I have finished sewing projects and other projects, I've tossed stuff I no longer want/need. I am healthier now than when I stopped working on Sept 7th, and I will continue to improve my health.

I am way past bearing children, and my children are all independent adults. I have some pension funds that are tied into my ex husband's earnings because I was a stay at home mom for most of our marriage. Therefore, marrying would create a financial penalty for me. Unless future spouse is really really rich and really really demands marriage, nope not for me. Now for your questions re: minor children. The law is pretty good about child support if your name is on the birth certificate. The question of mom not working will need to be addressed by a lawyer and each state will have different rules. Property ownership will be the same way. Do you recall several years ago a Hollywood Palimony case? I don't remember the individuals, I just remember the term Palimony being kicked around. College for the children is never a given. I've known too many women left with little when the husband decided to take off, so marriage is no guarantee. EVER.

There was a publication for the military members and families available at the Exchange (department store) and the Commisary (grocery store) called Shopper's BiWeekly News. It had personal ads in it. In a crazy moment I answered several, and one replied to me. We met, dated, fell in "love" got married, moved, I got out o the service, had kids, moved, moved, and divorced after 25+ years.

I have considered Ecuador, I've read lots about Cuenca, and I think it would be awesome. I have enough pension income now that I could qualify to move there, they have an income requirement. Good for you!! I started my Swedish Death Cleaning several weeks ago. No, I'm not dying any quicker than I ever have been, at least to my knowledge. I am getting rid of the stuff I don't need or use so my kids won't have to get rid of it when/if I actually do die, or have to downsize. It is like losing weight, you just feel so much better! I am a fabric hoarder, and I had fabrics I don't remember buying. I had fabrics I bought for a projects that I don't want to do now. My kids came to dinner on Thursday, and I sent them home with nearly all my Xmas decorations from their childhood, and a few other things. I'm selling some stuff on eBay, and other stuff is going to local charities. Less is the new more.
