Trump is out of control. [nbcnews.com]
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 4, 2019:
We live in interesting times. My anxieties are partying on and I have given up sleep for lent. Someone needs to neutralize or neuter Drumpf or I may never sleep again.
Already been posted?
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 4, 2019:
I haven't seen it before, and if it has already been posted I figure GMTA (great minds think alike). We don't all see all the posts, so it would be new to someone. And I think the more the merrier!
I was talking to a friend the other day about anxiety.
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 4, 2019:
What causes me anxiety. If I list it all I will be here all night and I have an event to attend. Causes of Anxiety: Attending events, even social events, especially if I have to eat in front of others. Finances - will I be able to retire above the poverty line before I drop dead at my desk (if I have a desk to drop dead at.) With the Republithugs playing with Social Security.... FML Job - currently unemployed, but working on it. And see finances as my savings evaporate Interviews: cause me to lose sleep the nights before. Will I be a good fit, what is my competition? My car - 12 years old, paid for, funny noises from the back end. I know I need a new car but see job and finances. House - I own my home and I need a new dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator. See job and finances. Also still paying for the new HVAC and water heater. And I live in tornado alley, new roof in 2016. That doesn't mean I won't get hail damage again this spring. That is just the top layer of anxieties. I could list many more. However, I do have to admit since I started walking about 5 miles a day and meditating, the anxieties are not as loud.

HippieChick58 comments on Jan 4, 2019:
Try meditation. I use an app called Calm. It has helped immensely. Also, Benadryl is not only an allergy medication, it is the main ingredient in Sominex. Two will put you out. Wine works for me. I also use a variety of teas, including Valerian and chamomile. Yogi teas makes a sleepy time tea, I just throw one of each of several varieties in a pot and let steep. And if you aren't exercising during the day, that will help also. I also try to read before I turn out the light, and I journal as part of my bedtime routine. And some nights nothing helps, but it is better than it was.

Do any of you have some optimism for 2019 - like more people will start thinking and get woke?
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 3, 2019:
The optimism I have is that I'm really bad at predicting the future.... I've rarely been right. Soooo, I haven't got a clue, and I've got to believe things will be ok somehow. I use the saying: "Everything will be OK in the end. If it's not OK, it's not the end."

HippieChick58 comments on Jan 2, 2019:
Yeah, math is not my favorite subject, but now that I have a calculator in my pocket almost all of the time... 2019 + 81 = 2100. The year 3000 - current year 2019 = 981 years. Those damn pesky details. I am 99% positive I will not live to see 3000, and I'd prefer not so see 2100. I do remember being with my siblings when we were children, fascinated by the fact that we'd likely be alive in the year 2000. This must have been in the mid 1960s. It seemed so far away then. And now here it is, 19 years past 2000, and we're all (my siblings) still alive, and worse yet, we're old!

I use a similar metaphor. You can't find yourself because you aren't lost. You create yourself. Everyday, every decision, you create who you are going to be.
Something happened the other day which upset me very much.
HippieChick58 comments on Jan 2, 2019:
It is hard when you're outside of the cultural norm. Sometimes you just have to forgive people for only being able to understand through their experience. They truly have no idea what you are going through. Yes, people like to give advice so they can feel like they made a contribution. No one wants to admit not having a clue. Just like people listen just enough to know when they can start talking again, not so they can understand.

We have general posts, and then we have groups. Some groups you have to level up before you can join. The posts you're seeing you can respond to, and the more you respond or post the faster you level up. The levels just help to keep out scammers, we do get a few now and again. Welcome to the site, I've been here just over a year. I LOVE it here, great folks great conversations. Did you have a greeter when your joined up? Your greeter is a great person to ask questions of. And you've done well in figuring out how to make posts. You can find an explanation of the points and other stuff under the FAQs under the Learn tab. I hope this helps, and I hope you enjoy Ag.com.

HippieChick58 comments on Jan 1, 2019:
When I was working full time and over time, there were lots of posts on FB that I just did not have the time or mental energy to get back to. I'd plan to circle back, but there just were not enough hours in the day. So, my guess is that your posts to your friends just did not rise to the level of needing to be responded to for whatever reason they have. The question for you is do you feel a need to rock the boat and confront them with the possible outcome being they unfriend you, or can you live with the status quo of not being near the top of the priorities list?
In the end I will not waste anymore time on trying to keep someone around.

HippieChick58 comments on Jan 1, 2019:
Wow, SaucyCheryl, being a step parent is HARD! I had one from age 15. She was not a good parent, or for that matter not a good person. Teens are hard. One of my kids was headed in a really bad direction and we got her involved with a Caregiver Night Out program. The program provided crafts and entertainment for young adults with disabilities while their caregivers got some time to themselves. My challenging teen had to be threatened to go in the first night, and when I picked her up she was SO EXCITED!!! She had a fabulous time and went eagerly after that. I think that was the point of change for her. She still had her moments, but today she is an amazing person; grounded, compassionate, and kick ass and take names for the less advantaged. Good luck in reaching and guiding your challenging children. Mothering is the best job I ever had.
