@273kelvin I don't even watch Jennifer Anniston, although I have watched every episode of FRIENDS. I only see Disney when the grands are over. I don't have cable TV, so I don't watch much TV at all. Recently I've been watching old TV shows that I get on DVD from the local library. While I watch TV I am also crocheting or knitting. I can't crochet or knit and read a book, and I dislike audio books because I zone out. I am currently working on a blanket for my grandson that needs to be done before next winter. It will be 66 X 90 inches when done. There is lots of work to be completed, so I am watching lots of old TV or sometimes movies. But no horror, no violence. I am not into sci fi, so no Dr. Who. I have watched Bridgerton on Netflix, it is a Regency era romance type of series, I am vaguely amused by the plot lines, but I love the period clothing. I used to read Regency Romances for many years and then I OD'd on them. I will watch documentaries sometimes. Never Hitchcock. Truthfully I'd much rather read, I just finished Obama's new bio, and a book called CASTE that was the Oprah book club pick about the caste system in the US and India, and Nazi Germany. Good book. I am going to pass on Dr. Who for the time being. Too much else on my plate. I will keep your offer in mind if I do decide to watch.

I live alone, so anything that gets done is mostly done by me, except for the yard work. I have a mowing team that comes during the growing season. My yard has a killer slope. And some things my kids don't want to me to do, some things my son in law helps with, he cleans my gutters when needed. HippieChick58 replies on Mar 11, 2021:
You must be taller than average. The problem is most kitchens are built for "average" people. I'm not average height, I don't know many who really are. I'm considering a stool in the kitchen, except I'd likely trip over it and break my neck. As for washing dishes, I fully believe that is what a dishwasher is for. I prefer not to hand wash, and only hand wash a very few things that cannot go in the dishwasher, and then only use those items or wash those items reluctantly.

After that I'm doing another HST project. I keep browsing pintrest and finding ideas. Then cut on the line and press. I do have pictures of several of my quilts on my profile. There are several variations for making HSTs, a google search will find them. Phonology.
HippieChick58 comments on Feb 8, 2021:
One of my kids had speech therapy for sibillant S's. And just now I made a sibillant s sound towards my kittie, she looked like she wanted to pounce on me! Phonics is fun. as is phonology!
HippieChick58 replies on Feb 8, 2021:
@Behind-the-dog The one we saw was very nice, very good with kids. My daughter's sibilant s's were because of horribly misaligned teeth. She had several years of expansion and braces and has great teeth today and perfect speech. And now her son has the horribly misaligned teeth... Genetics is wonderful.

@Gwendolyn2018 I would never try to sell my quilts. I make them for my pleasure and give them away when I see fit. To make a profit from quilting you'd have to sell for hundreds of dollars, and people just don't see the value in them. My kids and grands all have quilts, and I know as they grow the grands will get additional quilts. I make them to make me happy, and hopefully the recipients happy. To sell them would turn my hobby into work, and that is the last thing that I want or need.
And now, for something completely different.

HippieChick58 replies on Feb 5, 2021:
@Gwendolyn2018 I started doing some smaller projects just to fill the void. I have done pot holders and placemats. Now I'm working on what will either be a throw quilt or a wall hanging. It is a Thanksgiving wreath. I'm hoping it is done by next Thanksgiving. For the most part I'm avoiding fabric stores (and other stores as well) so I'm using up the stuff I have on hand. I don't like to give the public utilities much of my money, so I keep my thermostat pretty low. While I'm working I have a throw quilt on my lap, and I have several quilts on my bed. I sleep better under a pile of quilts and blankets.

HippieChick58 replies on Jan 16, 2021:
Google says: Denouement: the final part of a play, movie, or narrative in which the strands of the plot are drawn together and matters are explained or resolved. "the film's denouement was unsatisfying and ambiguous" the climax of a chain of events, usually when something is decided or made clear. "I waited by the eighteenth green to see the denouement" and anagnorisis the point in a play, novel, etc., in which a principal character recognizes or discovers another character's true identity or the true nature of their own circumstances. "we see the tormented figure of Oedipus come to recognize the truth in a classical moment of anagnorisis" So, not the same thing but similar. And I'm sure that could be debated.

@Flowerwall "benefitted some of the population" means that there were significant members of the population that the status quo has passed by. Low mortgage rates mostly affect white folks and especially in the suburbs. Redlining is a real thing, makes it harder for blacks to qualify for those low mortgage rates to get loans. And yes, lack of jobs and biased hiring practices affect so many. With my children having small children and busy schedules I'm not going to agitate. Those few times the ex and I have to be together we're civil. If he does get obnoxious two of the daughters will rip him a new one. We ended up in a car together one time, he tried to tell us xian reasoning, and the son in law took him up on that debate and beat him to shreds. I thought it was kinda amazing.

The only person I encounter with any regularity that I'd rather not see is the father of my children, my kids like to do "family" celebrations. We generally are civil but it can be "interesting". Helps that most of the kids are atheist/agnostic. I understand your frustration, the status quo has only benefitted some of the population for a long time.
